At $1.2M, Obama Set to Become Most Expensive Ex-President

Former President Barack Obama's budget request for 2018 came in at $1,153,000, poised to make him the most expensive president to taxpayers, The Washington Times reported.

Obama's official allowance eclipses George W. Bush by $100,000 and Bill Clinton by $200,000, the Times reported, citing a Congressional Research Service memo.

Former president George H.W. Bush will get $942,000 next year, followed by Jimmy Carter at $456,000.

The allowances for an office and expenses — and pension for Obama — originated from a 1958 law, the Former Presidents Act, which provides for presidents when they leave office. It stemmed from Harry Truman's difficulty generating income, the Times reported.

Of course now, Obama and former FOTUS Michelle Obama left the White House as multi-millionaires, plus he hits the private speaking tour, making $400,000 per speech, minimizing the need for such an allowance, but one he takes anyway.

Michelle Obama commands $200,000 on the speaker's circuit, just as much as Bush 43.

Thanks Obama?

Don't worry, I'm sure Trump will ease up on spending when he gets done. Believe me:yes:

He's already started.  No need to wait until his presidency is over to see the good.

No salary.  Again.

It is amusing how people here are complaining about how much Obama's security will cost the country, yet turn a blind eye to Trump who spends every other week in his mar a Lago estate at the tax payers expense, while being followed around by the secret service, in golf carts rented from Trump's Mar a lago estate.

That's the way the right rolls. Isn't it amazing how each former President costs more than his predecessor? A rational mind would think it is due to increased costs of just about everything, you know, like how the cost of living goes up every year. But that's a rational mind, something the right usually lacks.

Man you're cynical. I can't believe anyone would ever accuse our president of not carrying through on his promises.:jest:

Even more amazing is that they let him drive the carts in the putting green
