CR-1 visa, applying to jobs before POE?

Hi,
I know that the cr-1/ir-1 visa allows us to work right away once we are in the USA and have our passport stamped, and I know we'll have to wait for our SSN to be able to get paid, but I am wondering if it is legal to look for a job and apply BEFORE entering the US. I have the visa in hands but not the stamp yet, so I'm wondering if it's okay, or if it's a grey area or a big no no?

I was thinking regular electronic applications might be an issue for some of the boxes you mentioned, so I'm sticking to the ads one can reply by email. I am leaving in a week so I'm not "too" ahead.

I applied as soon as I was approved for CR1 , even before I got my passport back and before I crossed into the US. 

I figured, why not get a head start on it!

I applied before I moved to the US too and was even offered a couple of jobs however, in hindsight, I wish I hadn't.

 

First off, new hiring moves quickly in the US and most employers expect you to start within two weeks as that tends to be the resignation period in the US. 

 

Two, once you immigrate to the US, you're gonna need some time to get yourself in order like SSN, bank accounts, driver's license, car and just generally get used to your new home. 

 

Finally, you don't want to burn any bridges. If you apply for a job, a company assumes you're eligible to work in the US including SSN and reliable transportation, as stated in most job ads. But the truth is, if you haven't officially immigrated and got that I-551 stamp in your passport, you're NOT authorized to work in the US. If a company spends resources on hiring you and then it turns out you can't start on the date they want because you're not even in the US, that's not gonna make them very happy and then you just messed yourself up for future opportunities with this company. 

 

I would spend the time looking into the job market where you're moving, changing my CV into an American resume and prepare as much as possible for my move and the future job hunt but wait to apply until you've immigrated or at least until you're just a few days out.
