My fiance and I met in Second Life (hilarious I know).  I ended up moving to New Zealand in 2012 and we've been living together ever since.  I feel a bit spoiled having been able to move to New Zealand to be with him.  We are just waiting for approval so we can both move back to the states at the same time.  I haven't been able to see my family or friends in the states for nearly 3 years so I'm pretty antsy to get things going.  On a side note, I highly recommend second life for those of you who are apart and want something other than skype or phone to interact with each other.

So are you currently residing in New Zealand? Only reason I ask is because I thought you needed to be a US Citizen to apply for the K1 Visa. @Estibaliz Can you offer some of your all knowing wisdom? :)

Apologies if I'm being too nosy!

Lol, why does everybody assume I'm an expert? :P

You need to be a US Citizen, yes, as I'm sure she is, but that doesn't mean you have to be living in the US at the moment. I've seen more cases of people applying from abroad while living together.

The only part where I think that might be a bit tricky is when it comes to the Affidavit of Support, because they want to know you are going to be able to support your fiance/beneficiary once in the States... so if you don't have a job there, then sure you need a co-sponsor. I think savings have to be based on the US too... and though normally you have to declare the foreign income in the US, not everyone does. So it's quite usual to need a co-sponsor in the US to help out with that part.

My fiancee and are in a similar situation

Jul 24, I-129F sent per USPS to Dallas

Jul 27, I-129F arrived in Dallas (confirmed on the USCIS website)

Jul 31, beneficiary received e- notification e-mail; petitioner did not receive e-mail or text message

Now it's Aug 15 and there's still no hard copy of the NOA1. The USCIS site says that we should call customer service if it's not here by Aug 26 (so 30 days after they receive it apparently)

I really hope this is normal. I'm probably worrying too much. I've read that you don't really need the NOA1 as long as you have your case number.

I wonder what causes stuff like this

NickandKat,

today i called the USCIS and said that they are having a back up and to wait another 30 days to receive the NOA 1. If not to email csc-ncsc-followup@uscis.dhs.gov , which is the california center. So now they are gonna have to make me wait 60 days for a NOA 1. WTH.

Whenever I check, the estimated time for the NOA2 seems to be further back.  Is everyone else seeing this trend? It's kinda freaking me out.

Yep. Gets pushed back a few days. Hopefully, we hear something in November or sooner.

Sorry further to the above, I should add that we do have a co-sponsor so all good there.  I didn't read the replies up above before posting this and now I can't figure out how to edit my own bloomin' comment.  Too much work today I think.  The other thing we have to figure out is if we need to transfer some money into my US bank account prior to moving.  We've got a house to sell and heaps of other stuff so transferring money before hand could be a good idea.  This whole process is so mind boggling.

hi...

NO1 received per USCIS website July 3,2017

question: do we need keep all paper works from USCIS and send it to beneficiary for her interview?

Yes, I would. Also, when I assembled my package, I made 2 copies. One for me and one for my fiance. I have been told many times to send his copy of the I-129f to him once the petition has been accepted. They will need this information for the interview process so it is good to review.

Hello...  Yea, we can only hope for a quick process :(

I thought about putting myself in a medically-induced coma and try to wake up sometime in December after all this is done :help:

Patience is definitely not my strong suit... I try to visit my fiancée at least once every 3 months and I'm working days and nights just to be able to afford all the travel expenses...

I'm trying to visit my fiancee at least every 3 months too! Our NOA 1 is stamped July 13. This has to be the hardest part.

The USCIS timeline says they're just now processing February 2017 applications. Hopefully it being a short month will work in our favor! :)
