I'm curious, does this somehow make slavery in America ok?

Yes! If the history classes do not teach it….then it must be ok. So my vote is for perfectly legit.

Japanese history text books don't go into the atrocities committed in POW camps during WW2 for example. Guess it means no apologies are necessary, using such logic;)

Put it in a museum. Isn't that where old artifacts belong anyway? Why does it need to be hanging on the corner?

Living in a city where there are symbols of slavery and racism on every corner is pretty rough too.

Come on. You were never a slave. Your parents were never slaves. Your grandparents were not slaves. Just get over it. You want to wipe out any reminder of that history, and probably would be happy to rewrite history books.

It seems blacks want to keep bringing it up just to stir the pot. Let it go. Black slavery in the US ended over 150 years ago.

As a 9 year old, I watched my grandmother mentally deteriorate. You know what she talked about all the time? Watching her father hung in front of her as a little girl from the tree she played under. It was the only thing from her child hood that stood out to her mind the most as she slowly died.

I don't have to get over anything just because I wasn't directly involved. A symbol of the past belongs in the museum so it can never be forgotten and so that it will not taunt those whose ancestors suffered from it as well.

Would you be okay if Indians rode around with scalps on their cars and posted pictures of white men with their scalps cut off and carved this into a mountain?

I like it how someone like you tell someone like me to get over it. My grandparents lived through segregation. My granddad is still alive at 95. So yeah, he's lived and seen some things...

Personal favorite. He saved up all his money so he could be a house in a nice neighborhood so he and my grandma could continue to raise their children in a safe environment. No criminal record, served honorably in the Army, and he was denied, because he was black. So he had to buy a house in Pine Lawn. Anyone from STL knows how this place is. This wasn't 150 years ago. But 50 years ago. Living memory.

Also with the generalization, I'm addressing you, not whites. Your comment betrays your real feelings...

Come on man let it go. The confederacy ended a short time later. Why do you worship such traitorous losers?

So what is the fuss created about the Japanese PM visiting the Yasukuni Shrine about?

I believe all the fuss is because the souls of the some of the participants of the Nanjing Massacre are honored there at that shrine.
