Puffers, did your lawyer mail out form G-1145 along with your application? That is the form that gives them your email

And number so they can tell you when they received your application, if not you will have to wait till they mail the letter out to you. Are you adjusting from k-1?

Hi Stefani,

I dont know if he mailed out that form. It was pretty much just a "let him do all the work" kinda thing, thats what we paid him for and with our K1 (yes i am adjusting from K1) it all worked out well, we got e-mails and he kept in touch, but now i feel like we are completely left out. maybe he really didnt sent out that form, that would explain the waiting.. but even for the hard copy 2 weeks is quite long, isnt it?

Will we get the receipt number on the NOA1 hard copy?

Also: How can we find out which CIS office will have our case? The Service Center should be Texas (we live on Long Island, NY) but how do we know the local office? We are thinking about calling them and asking if they got our case.

Thanks :)

He probably didn't mail out that form.. Ill say wait a week and then try to contact USCIS. You should receive your case number along with the letter. As for the local office, i am not sure about that. I guess we will find out when our interview comes.

Also, most of us who are adjusting from k-1 post on here.. Please keep us posted on this psot. :) good luck

Got my texts and emails this afternoon! I feel like I'm finally in the system 9 days after it was delivered to them.

"Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing.Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxxx......"

I'm going to go and find out the significance of the "MSC" of my receipt number. Plus I didn't even realize it goes to the national benefits center. I assumed it just got sent to the Texas office because I'm in Georgia. I must have read that somewhere. Oh well, I'm off to educate myself on this bit of the process. :-)

You can call USCIS customer service, listen for the option to find your local office, enter your zip code and they will tell your the local office that serves your area.

Ok. I am not sure if anyone else here is using a lawyer. Hope he dont delay passing information to you. Even so, do you know if its your contact number and email address thats on the G-1145, then you will get the notification once accepted into the system. Lets hope today or tomorrow you will hear from them.

I am happy you found this thread too. I was going to get a lawyer, then here is Vj and I can tell, if it wasnt for Vj i dont think my k-1 process would be such a success without any RFE and complications at the embassy. If you didnt find the need to hire your lawyer again for AOS you couldve done it alone. If i did, i believe anyone else can. Anyway, check with your lawyer about the information on the G-1145, im assuming it would be his/her contact info since your lawyer is the one filing your application. Also ask if he have a copy he can give to you so you can look over the file for your own sense of security. You are still in the waiting period for a NOA1, before i knew about my rejected application because i ticked two box on the type of application, people would tell me it can take up to a month to here from USCIS.
