Timeline

Let's think timeline here. K-1: let's say it takes 2 weeks at NVC, and you could stretch out the medical and be slow to schedule your interview so it takes another month or two for the interview and approval. The K-1 Visa expires 6 months after it's issued. So that gets you to coming to the USA in about 7+ months (if you choose). Once you get to America you have another 90 days in which to get married. That puts your timeline at about 10 months from now to actually have to be married. It doesn't cost another filing fee and doesn't have a mandatory 9+ month wait (like filing for the CR-1). If you were to go the CR-1 route you have the mandatory wait for approval of 9+ months which gives you more time to financially prepare and him to start a new job. However, I believe finishing the K-1 process (w/ adjustment of status) is cheaper than starting over with the CR-1 except for the lost wages in whatever time you're unable to work while waiting for the EAD to be approved. IMHO I'd stretch out the rest of the K-1 process until you feel financially ready for you to come.

Absolutely!

I was not in a rush to get married (we were at CSC and got approved mush sooner than we expected), so I scheduled my interview about 2 months after the NOA2, got my visa end of May and flew to US in Sept. You can postpone both processes even more. No reason to change your petition and start over.

Don't do it!

You're both so close to the end! And you can postpone parts of the rest! And your visa will be valid for 6 months also!

Don't get married and go cr1 it'll take another year!

Continue on K1 path....

1. You have to go through medical, interview, then have visa issued. This can take up to 2 months.

2. You have 6 months from the day of you medical to enter the U.S.

This should give you and him time to get financially strong.

Before you proceed, though, please find out if your embassy will accept a co-sponsor for k1 visa. It sounds like your Fiance might need it even after getting a job since it'd be new.

K3 can be filed but won't be issued if i-130 has been approved before issuance, which happens over 90% of the times.

I dont know why people suggest only postponing entering the USA mentioning that you can enter the US within 6 months. In fact you may also take your time before the interview. Your NOA2 received in March is valid about 4 months, so officially this is the term you need to have your interview. But even if your NOA2 expires (e.g. it's valid till August 19) you may extend its validity with the consulate at your home country where you are going to have your interview for k1 visa. Plus yes, the 6 months after the interview that everyone mentioned. Plus 90 days to get married after you enter the US. And though USCIS recommends to file for adjustment of status as soon as possible after the marriage, you may wait for any period of time before doing so in case of financial difficulties, though it would be better not to exceed your I94 for more than 6 months.

And I completely agree with Abbumimapa if your fiance has some problems at work (income or taxes related), it's better to consider finding a co-sponsor.

Considering your relationship didn't survive the waiting I would suggest just dragging out the K1 one process. You just got back together, it's not a good idea to get married this early after getting back since you've already broke up once. Drag the K1 one out, work on your relationship as well as him figuring stuff out over there and then get married on the K1.

I'm with everyone else here. Stay right on the K1 path. If you want to buy a little more time, just delay your interview and entry to the US after your visa is issued. Good luck,
