The NVC seems to be transitioning toward an all electronic process. If the NVC is in a state of flux right now, it will be hard for anyone on here to give you accurate advice. I would follow the instructions they provided you and send the DS-261 - they know where your application falls in relation to the transition. I suspect some people are going to be caught in a phase between the paper processing and electronic processing, so there will be plenty of confusion in the coming weeks.

Thanks jayjaym, I'll complete DS-261 also as the attached file contains this message:

"IMPORTANT NOTICE: The NVC cannot process your case until you complete the online DS-261, Choice of Address and

Agent form."

I'm furious about this 260 #######. My IV was literally going to be at 17 days today and I just called and yes sounds like everyone will need to do the 260 now.

Do we HAVE to do the 261 if we've already had the 3032 accepted months ago? Anyone know?

I'm not sure if this is 100% reliable, but I called NVC and requested a supervisor regarding our DS-230 that is in day 17/20 and the DS-260 fiasco. She stated that as long as the DS-230 has no errors they should accept it. If there are errors, the checklist will require the DS-260 be submitted.

I'm not sure if this is because we've been in queue so long, or whether the person reviewing our actual documents knows this or not. Only time will tell. I just wanted to let everyone know what I have heard regarding our own case. Fortunately, I should know something in less than 3 days otherwise they cross that dreaded 20-day barrier and I can really pester them.

Best of luck to everyone else out there in the past month's chaotic-limbo!

Gosh it is the I-864 new form nightmare revisited. Why do they do this to people.

Like they have everyone's email they couldn't let you know when you get case#. That's horrible. Sorry people.

There are 3 requirements in the form itself:

1) You are the petitioner of the family member being sponsored

2) You are using ONLY your own income.

3) The sponsored immigrant is the only person being sponsored based on the petition.

If any of those don't match, it says to use the standard I-864..

In my case, i'm petitioning for my wife using only my own income.

Thanks for reply, is that mean if my wife has no income and no tax return, then she should use I-864?

I saw some where that form I-864EZ is for principle applicant who can support himself, is that right?

I am not an expert on I-864s, but if I understand correctly your wife is the USA citizen petitioning for you, the beneficiary. If she has no income and no tax return, you cannot file the I-864EZ as you will need a co-sponsor or another person to sponsor you as she falls below the poverty levels.

The point of the form is to prove that the beneficiary (you) can be financially (legally) supported by someone once you arrive. If she has no income, someone else must take that legal burden.

No one have answered me yet, I am still waiting for the answer from some one who have sent AOS packet and NVC have accepted it.

NVC representative have told me to wait until payment will be accepted, otherwise they will delay the AOS processing.

Based on reading on my understanding, I think below is what's required for AOS package:

1 AOS Payment receipt printed from NVC website.

2. Complete and signed I-864 Ez form

3. IRS Tax transcript of last three years

4. W-2 form of last three years

5. Employment verification letter from my employer.

6. Barcode sheet

I don't think that passport copy is required with AOS

There is probably something else which gets generated as I read that AOS package should be sent when status changes to "Paid". Not sure if something else is needed or if we need to print that "Paid" status page.

P.S.: I noticed your current case progress is exactly as mine.

What do you mean by Barcode sheet?

Just my thoughts only, Passport copy is needed because I have indicated that I am US citizen in form. But it does not hut to send it, right?

I have already seen AOS bill payment status Pending in my bank account. Hopefully it will show up in NVC system by the end of day or tomorrow early in the morning.

Hopefully NVC may process our petition soon, I am expecting the case complete and Interview date assigned by the end of September.

After I made the payments, I can log in and print the Barcode cover sheet which needs to be sent with the package. Log in and check it out.

Where are the NVC experts, Saylin and Darnell to confirm what we need them to confirm what we need to send? :)

Due to a series of events and even after my husband filed AOS months ago, it is only today that I sent my IV application.

Please tell me how to go about this next... Cause I can't seem to find any guidance on this. :(

I went to the ceac.state.gov website. Filled in the DS-260 and got told it will be processed 3-5 days. Do I send the civil documents and photographs through snail mail? Or is there any way it can be scanned and e-mailed? Has anyone done this yet? Please let me know asap.

My husband (USC) and I live in Japan. i'm Filipino but my immigrant visa case is assigned to a consulate in Japan.

of those differences between us, for it is not difference which immobilizes us, but silence.
And there are so many silences to be broken.”
