Do you have permanent legal work authorization in the United States?

This is a question on a job application I am filling out. The drop-down menu only allows yes or no. Is this asking about whether I have an EAD or green card? Or is it asking 'permanent' as in 'always', as in citizenship?

Having a green card means I am a permanent resident and have work authorization, but my green card also has an expiration date (2 years from now, but could also be 10 years from now, still is an expiration date).

You have permanent work authorization if you are a US citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident.

 

If you hold a two year conditional green card, you are still a LPR, and therefore, yes, you have permanent work authorization.

08/01/17 - Package delivered to CSC

08/05/17 - NOA1 received by US mail

08/10/18 - Rec'd new NOA1 with 18 month extension instead of 12 months

10/15/18 - Case transferred to Nebraska

12/26/18 - ROC Approved

You have to remember, your green card is just that---- a card. 

 

When the card expires, that does not mean your status expires.  Just the physical proof of it.

What about EAD? Would I not qualify if I had an EAD? I thought they could not discriminate like that.

If you're asking what I *think* you're asking by "qualify"----the EAD is proof of authorization to work in the US.  It is separate from your proof of permanent legal residency.

I would say no since your EAD is with DHS authorization only.

It depend on the type of job. some companies dont hire EAD holders commonly based on the kind of position they are filling for example this kind pf positions that start with a training
