We have sent our package via USPS mail and it arrived at the Chicago Lockbox on the 4th of April. It was signed by JC. Its now the 7th of April. How long does it usually take before getting som kind of reply?

Did you also send the G1145 form so you get email and text message of receipt of your petition at USCIS? If not it takes from 2 to 4 weeks to get the hardcopy I-797 (we call NOA1) in mail.

yeah we attach what felt like our entire life history and the G1145 We probably just need to chill out a litte.

Hahaha!!! Yes, relax a little bit. I am pretty sure you will get an SMS and e-mail from them one of these days. I sent mine on March 24 via FedEx and got a notification via SMS and e-mail on April 4.

I got an email 6 days after delivery (that included a weekend). They advise in that email that the hardcopy should arrive in 7-10 days. That was 10 days ago and the hardcopy is still to arrive ... but filing from abroad it does take time in the mail. Plus, who knows if they mean 7-10 actual days or working days.

Update: We still have not recieved any update from the Chicago office. Is the a number that we can call?

Not everyone gets the text and email even though they attached the G1145. Just call USCIS they should have receipt number by now. Or just wait for the hard copy that will come 2 to 4 weeks.

Have you been tracking the $420 check or money order. That's the best indicator that at least you were received.

agreed .. check for whether payment has cleared. Then if you haven't heard anything in another week THEN maybe call, but now would be too soon. For example: My USPS mail was signed for on the 24th March, email notification from USCIS on the 30th, hardcopy on 11th April... and still not active online on their receipt number search although they are getting close as I've checked numbers close to mine.

If you're anxious to find out, call in a week. If you can wait a little longer, you should get the hardcopy around end of April/start of May.

If my calculations are correct by the receipt numbers I searched they got a couple of hundred various applications the week mine arrived. They are busy people so the admin takes a while I'm guessing.

I checked with the bank and the payment has not cleared as of yet. I'll give it a few more days before I call. I think its nerve racking. We know the package was delivered. But we haven't even received a notice or case number or any sign of life. The package was signed for on the 4th of April.

I sent in three G1145s with my applications and did not receive an email or text message. I had to track my USPS money order using the money order verification system by calling 1-866-459-7822. It was only after it was cashed that I assumed my package was accepted.

Teddy, it does tell you. That's how I knew my money orders were cashed! After dialing the number, press 1 then enter serial number (located at the bottom left hand corner of your usps money order) then press 1 if its correct. It will then ask you for the dollar amount. For example, I entered 8500 for $85 for the biometrics fee. Press 1 if the amount entered is correct. It will then ask for the 6 digit post office code, this can be found on the money order itself (in between the date and the amount) then press 1 if its correct. This code is usually the zip code of the post office where you purchased the mo and one other digit. You will then be told whether or not it was cashed and if it was indeed cashed, the date will also be given. I have tried it with all the money orders I purchased for the aos process. It also worked on previous money orders purchased for other things. Please note that this info can only be accessed after 48 hrs of purchase and within 90 days of purchase. Hope this post helps someone.
