Hello everyone!

So, I'm kind of confused about some procedures here in Venezuela.

My fiance (Petitioner) got an e-mail from the embassy (ImmigrantCaracas@state.gov) addressed to me, giving me some information about the interview. They mentioned that I should go to www.ustraveldocs.com to make an appointment at the embassy ASAP.(this happened about a week ago)

I'm confused, because I've read all around the internet that they were going to write me with the interview date.

What should I do?, go there and try to set an appointment or just wait for an e-mail with the date they scheduled for my interview?

About the documents, which documents should have the apostille?. I read that just the Birth Certificate, but others say that it just have to be legalized by the principal register of the zone where I was born and that the apostille wasn't necessary. (This is a little odd because Embassies in other countries don't ask for apostille documents).

Thank you very much for your help.

Some processes are country specific, but since the you were advised to register at ustraveldocs you should register and schedule your interview. You should also have paid the Visa fee prior to scheduling an interview.

Most K1 process that I have read set their own interview dates. Only IV applicant were scheduled by the embassy. K1 is a non-immigrant visa.

As for the requirements follow your US EMbassy in Venezuela requirements fro K1. That should be included in the letter or they should have given you the link where to download it.

4. The beneficiary will follow these instructions to pay the application fee and book an appointment online

Regarding the birth certificate, it's best to call the embassy to inquire about the apostille. Like you said, VJ members experience is too varied. Some were required and some were not. Only thing I found on the embassy website is this:

  • Birth Certificate: A certified copy of the applicant’s birth certificate is required. All Venezuelan birth certificates presented at the U.S. Embassy during the applicant’s personal visa interview must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Relations. Please see the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministerio del Poder Popular Para Relaciones Exteriores (MRE)) .If you were adopted, you must submit a certified copy of the final adoption decree.

Hello,

We are working on the K-1 visa to get married next year. We have a question about the criminal records process in Venezuela. Right now, things are very difficult to do anything in Venezuela and we want to make sure that we do not do something that we later regret. We heard several people wasted their trip to Caracas to get the criminal records, simply because they didn’t write the correct name. Which name should we write "Embassy of the United States of America, or Embassy of the United States of America in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela". We heard that the Embassy name was changed and we want to make sure we write it correctly.

This process is not easy in Venezuela due to political issues and we do not want to have any delays in K-1 visa process.

Thanks,

Annel and Morgan
