So now im here in US already.we should get married and im thinking a courthouse wedding will do..is there anyone who had undergone courthouse wedding? What are the things needed to be done.. THANK YOU

It varies by state, Google "Georgia courthouse wedding" (you're in Georgia, right?). Usually you go to the courthouse and apply for the license, wait 24-48 hours (again, depends on state), then go back to get married.

Yes It is vary by state. I recommend you to search on civil services on the district/county/city website where you live.

In MI, we need a marriage license which request both party birth certificate and passport and/or ID. It is valid within 33 days after apply. The courthouse here in MI request, 2 witnesses who are older than 21 and I believe it was $15 fee. Conversely, in Las Vagas you can just do drive through wedding.

Congratulations! Just to echo what other people said really...first we had to get the marriage license which was at one of the court offices in the main building. This cost a fee and a couple of forms but nothing major and we could pick it up 48hrs later. When we were there the lady asked if we wanted a list of judges who perform the ceremony - this had names and numbers of their offices on, then we just called and arranged. Fees wise, this probably differs by state but it was at the discretion of the judge in this instance. So if you ask the court house in your area, I would think that they should be able to provide the same sort of information, as I'm sure they get a lot of requests. Check with your State. In Texas, we got our marriage license at the county clerk. We presented ID and paid like $71.. got the marriage license right away, but it has a 72-hr waiting period before you can use it.. it's good for 30 days.. After getting the license, we went straight to the courthouse, handed them the license and set up the date for the wedding. Pretty easy!

and oh! no witnesses required here..

It might be the easiest to call the courthouse in the city/county where you plan to marry and the clerk of the court will be more than happy to tell you what you are going to need to bring with you in order to get the marriage license. This is what I did, no problem.

We got married at the courthouse in Nashville. I had to call to make an appointment for us to do this, because so many people get married this way. We filled out one form online, and then arrived early, and sat with a clerk who filled out the rest of our forms and took our fees. It was more fun than a regular all-out-party type wedding, for us; we stayed in a lovely hotel and had our wedding night dinner at the Capitol Grill. Wonderful! I'd recommend this way, because it's so much less expensive; you can save your money for a wonderful honeymoon together.

Just go to the state website and search for information. It's all on there, how to do it and who to call.

Call around to the different county clerk offices because at some of them it is much cheaper or have shorter waiting times in between obtaining the license and getting married. Or you'll get one that cheaper with a shorter wait time, or vise-versa. Just see what the best option is for you and where you're located, it may be worth it to get married out of your county.

Need to apply for marriage license. For Minnesota, we had to wait 5 days for the license or we can expedite it at court for $10. Total fees for license would be $125. $115 for license and $10 for expedite. We got our license the same day and could be used the same day too! Varies from state to state

We got married at the Alameda County Clerk's office where we had obtained our license earlier for around a hundred dollars. Remember to get extra copies of the certified marriage certificate (get at least four, you never know when you will be required to produce one for inspection prior to an an official accepting a copy).

The wedding was held in a tasteful private room with a deputy clerk officiating. We brought best man, maid of honor, a flower girl and her mom to the ceremony which cost around eighty dollars and seven for each original marriage certificate. Good thing we had the flower girl as the two adult women we reluctant to catch the flowers.

Remember to find out how long it will take to obtain the certficate - you can't file to adjust status without an original certificate. For us we added the cerificate and sent the package off on the way out of town on our honeymoon.
