My husband is from Iran and we interviewed in Montreal. He is a student in Canada. We were finally approved after an abusive interview and the lady was mean and rude. We were very stressed afterwards. She wasn`t really interested in our relationship (she didn`t look at ANY of the many documents I brought as proof - pictures, email, phone records, etc), she was only interested in some time my husband spent away from school. She made me leave the room and she grilled him over and over about it. I guess since she couldn`t get him to change his story (that he was doing nothing, he was basically going through some culture shock and needed some time to regroup) she approved him. She had no evidence to deny him, but I think she was trying to dig for something. She was also suspicious that at some time during his stay in Canada that he was in an illegal status, but he never was. She found that hard to believe for some reason, but she had no proof otherwise. I can understand SOME of her questions since America is so paranoid about Middle Eastern men and terrorism, but she didn`t have to be so bitchy to us. There was no excuse for that! Up to the interview, everyone at the Consulate was very nice to us. Now we are waiting for his passport to come in the mail. She would not let us come pick it up the next day as they do allow that sometimes. I tried to explain that it was his only source of picture ID (plus his proof of being in the country legally!), but she got really bitchy with me and told me no, she had to keep it and for me to leave. I was sooooo angry by the time we left that I couldn`t feel happy, only stress, and I still won`t believe he has the visa until he has it in his hand. Thanks U.S. Consulate for the worst experience of my life. Thanks to my wonderful country for their narrow minded, prejudiced attitudes!

Im glad its over.. and CONGRATS!

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

CONGRATS!!!!! Super happy! Let us know when he has visa in hand!!! When is he coming to the US? I'm sorry that you had such a horrible experience at the consulate. In situations like these, I try to imagine what I would be like if I had a really stressful and horrible day and just forgive the person for their attitude with the assumption that they must just really be having a bad day. (Although that doesn't excuse the fact that she was super rude, there is some level of business etiquette that needs to exist).

Keep us updated!

Ah! Sounds like you got the crazy Montreal CO. That's sad but be reassured, you aren't the only spouse she's been mean to and often she does not discriminate...she's just a meany to everyone!

Glad you got approved. Good luck.

As soon as he has his passport back, he will be coming to the U.S. So hopefully in about 3 weeks. :-)
