Well I think we all give our best guess about why, which is useless. But I will say that our case finally went outside our local office processing times. We called the customer service and requested that an officer look into the delay. They gave us a confirmation number and put in an inquiry request. Even now our online status say that that request has not been assigned to an officer for review, but 2 days after we submitted this inquiry the status changed and welcome letter sent. I don't think that is a coincidence. I think you should call and submit a request too. If there is no result from that, contact the ombudsman. As they say, squeaky wheel gets the grease. You have to be annoying sometimes to get answers.

I know we all give our best guees about why....In my case maybe because Im outside the US, actually I sent 3 inquiry request and 1 in writing to the Vermont office, and nothing happen....I called customer service many times and they just said nothing..just wait , This is driving me crazy, I cant sleep, omg!

We got the notice for teh green card being approved on the 9th and then this yesterday "On July 10, 2015, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt xxxxxx" it says it should be here by Sept 8th?? What do we do now? I've tried to follow the various next steps on here but they get a bit confusing. Do we have to fill out anymore paperwork as it says there may be some? Do we have to get him a new EAD card? Or is this it until we start the next process for bringing his daughter over?? Also, does this mean he can travel back to Australia if needed since he's considered a permanent resident? His mom is having health issues and I'd like an answer other than no you can't go say goodbye.

Congrats on your GC approval! You don't need a new EAD! The Green Card overrides the need for the EAD card! He should be able to travel as soon as you get the GC in hand.

Congratulations to everyone who have received their green cards!

I've been busy and trying to get situated with things especially with work. Good news is that I had a little promotion for my position at the DMV. Yes I work at the DMV, and NO I am not mean. But I also have an interview tomorrow with Social Security for a job position. It's weird working in a field where you deal with some of the same paper work that Immigration requires to process things for.

Anyways I got the dreaded interview waiver form from USCIS since Feb 2015. Maybe I think because I was with my husband at the time of his K-1 interview visa and maybe that was sufficient. But who knows. But our local office is Los Angeles office and me and my husband notice that they are processing Oct 2014 cases. And we filed in Sept 2014. We're like what the heck? We're out of the normal processing time. So I called today and of course I pressed on to speak to an Immigration Officer. As a matter of fact they're suppose to call me back soon.

So Hopefully. Fingers crossed that solves it.

Sadly my husband wants to work and nobody takes him seriously with an EAD card. They want a green card.

Times are hard for us! But we're managinging to get by.

Welcome letter mailed as of yesterday! finally. YAYAYAAAAY! Lets see if they send it to the correct address.....

Yay! I am so happy for you! I was rooting for you. Glad that's over for you.

We received an RFE yesterday in the mail for proof our relationship is bonafide, as well as updated G-325As. Sounds weird right that after 10 months they would ask for relationship evidence. I thought that's what interviews were for lol, and we could have had one months ago.

It states:

Your alien relative petition is continued for the reason(s) checked:

  • Please submit joint documents showing that your relationship is bonafide. Possible evidence can include the following: a lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence; joint ownership of property, cars, businesses; documents showing co-mingling of financial resources, such as bank accounts, birth certificates of children, joint filing of Federal income tax returns, copies of joint health insurance, life insurance policies and photos.
  • Please submit an updated Form G-325A, Biographic Information for you and the Petitioner.

So far we are planning to send in this:

  • Copy of our current lease and new lease which starts Aug 1
  • Copies of the last 3 bank statements for both our joint accounts
  • Copy from the bank when we opened our accounts that has both of our names listed as owners
  • Copy of our 2014 tax return that was filed jointly
  • Copy of our health insurance ID card
  • Copy that shows we are both covered under the same health insurance policy
  • Copy of her pharmacy claims
  • Copies of our recent pay stubs (just a few to show we are both in the same address)
  • Various photos of us, about 20 to 30

Is there anything else we should try to include?

For the G-325A, it is only asking for the form, but should we submit a 2x2 passport photo as well? It doesn't specify the photo but I'm curious what others have done in this situation.

My husband received his green card on July 15. Almost 10 months after filing to the day.

Thank you, for a while my husband was applying for jobs and no one took him seriously with the EAD card. So it helps, with our situation.

Have people actually said this (that they want green card and not EAD) in the job seeking process? That's BS.
