Administrative processing after K1 interview

My fiance had his K1 visa interview in Jonanesburg on January 2 but did not receive an answer at the end of his interview. When I checked the CEAC website and put in his number below "Immigrant visa", it said his case was under "administrative processing" and could take several weeks. Has anyone had any experience with this type of result?

Yes many go through AP. Can take weeks to months to years all depends what it is they need more time to investigate. Could be some of the documents you presented need to be checked out. Name checking no way to know. And no way to find out or know when it will be complete. All you can do is inquire now and then and be patient. Hopefully it woun't be long.

Have you checked your countires interview review to see if this is normal and what they maybe looking for. Like Pakistan most all men are in mandatory AP some for months some for years and years. I would check around your countries portal.

What nationality is your fiance'? That can play a part also.

First of all, technically everybody is in AP following interview approval. Usually it is resolved in a week or so. But some factors make it really long. Unfortunately for men from Moslem countries, that is one of the worst. Being from a country with a terrorist problem, like Pakistan, makes it even worse. And sometimes there are simply random factors, like if your name is similar to one on a terrorist watch list.

We would all like some predictability to this arcane system, but nobody in power seems to think that anything here needs to be changed. We are treated as worse than criminals, with no right to anything, except to sit down and shut up. And our only crime was to fall in love with someone from another country.

We are in AP also after interviewing in Joburg 12/19/13. We are applying for a K1 Fiance visa. My fiance is from Nigeria but in Joburg for work. Took us about 2 weeks and 5 phone calls to find out they have sent his birth certificate to Nigeria to validate it. We are still waiting on the visa.

Keep calling the consulate, and if you can, speak to Nicolas, he is the only one there who will give you a detailed answer. He is the one who told us what we were in AP for because we did not get a 221g form. He also told us the office in Lagos that does the validations goes out in the field the last 2 weeks of the month and so to wait until the 2nd week of January and have my fiance actually go to the consulate and request to speak to the interviewing officer. We did that and so a reminder was sent to Lagos. Nicolas told us to call every other week and to alternate a visit to consulate every other week. So that is what we are doing.

Good Luck!!

If your status on the CEAC website went from AP to ready they are getting ready to issue the visa. That is how ours changed after being in AP for 8 months.

I'm just curious as to why the PCC and BC are having to be verified again by the Consulate when they had to be certified to start with? We didn't run into any issues, but John is from the Western Cape in South Africa, so I'm not sure if that played a roll in it or not? It's just weird to me that we all go through these processes to make sure we have a certified unabridged BC and legalized PCC before the interview is done and then to have to re-verify that information again...frustrating I know for all of you, and I'm so sorry and will continue praying this process speeds up for each of you.

My fiancee went to her interview on 8 Jan. As she says, everything went well. We had filed all necessary documents for K1. When I called to check on the status of her visa, we were told that the case had been referred to AP. This was a surprise considering that the website gave different information to that of the ustraveldoc.gov site, which stated that her passport was "still with post." Now we are worried. She cried when I told her about the situation.

I'm wondering if it is "normal" to be placed on AP even after approval?
