I am sorry to hear that you are still waiting, I hope that the service request will make something happen. I believe that Nimaan is also still waiting. Good luck.

I thought I'd check in with you two to see of you've heard anything. It's been so long.

April 2013 was the first thread I started following when I found this website so I was following your ups and downs and I kept my fingers crossed for you.

Interestingly, I've found two other applicants who have been waiting for an oath ceremony for over a year (one on VJ and one on another website) and you guessed it, they're both in Atlanta.

So have you heard anything? What sort of action have you guys taken? Calls, letters, info passes, contacting congresspeople, lawsuits?

Thanks for sharing and good luck!

Hello JimmyHou,

Thanks for checking up on us..it's been really quiet over my end. Ever since my interview on Sept. 12, 2013 I have not heard anything. I did go to two infopasses but I was told they are still waiting for my background checks to clear. I have not taken any other action as I am in no hurry. I decided to just wait until they make their decision. As long as I have my GC am able to leave the country and come back, that's all it matters right now.

I appreciate you checking!

I'm glad to hear that you're not stressing out about it.

If I may offer a suggestion, you could try contacting your congressperson's office and ask them to look into the case. I've read about this proving helpful for several people. All they'll do is send a request for information to USCIS. The difference is that USCIS seems to take those requests a little more seriously.

I've read several cases where the congressional office got the exact same "background check" response, but then the applicant was miraculously scheduled for an oath within a couple of weeks of the inquiry.

I think it just makes USCIS actually go out and find your file and look into it.

JimmyHou,

Thanks for your advice. So here is my update:

Well, after I hit the 1 yr mark on Sept 12, 2014 I decided to reach out to Congressman Isaackson.

I printed the authorization and mailed it last week. Yesterday, Friday 10/3, I received a letter stating they have received my signed release and the have sent an inquiry to the Atlanta USCIS.

Well, today in the mail, another later from the congressman with a copy of en email from USCIS to the congressman office saying that they have no idea why my case has been pending for so long but has been recently assigned to an officer. It also says the fingerprints I took last yr have expired.

So, now I feel like I am back to where I started.

More waiting..

I disagree, I think this is good news! Your file was clearly forgotten and now it's been found. If you hadn't acted, you wouldn't have heard anything from them for years, if ever. I think they honestly just made a mistake and lost track of your case, but you've forced them to go find it. The fact that they know that your biometrics have expired means that they actually located your case and looked at it. It's annoying that you may have to do your biometrics again, but at least you know what's going on. Please make sure to follow up with them and if you don't get some information from them soon, contact your representative again. It may take them a while to send you a new notice, but I'd say that if a month goes by, you should act again. Best of luck.

Well, I really hope you are right. So, I think I will continue to do as you suggest. I will wait until Nov for the biometrics notice and if I haven't received it I will contact the congressman's office again.

Thank you for the advice.

I am even sure if anyone still follows this thread except me but I think my application is moving..

I called USCIS yesterday and spoke to Tier 2 and asked he if I am being scheduled for the biometrics since I was told my fingerprints had expired. She told me that she couldn't give me the date for the biometric appt but if I don't receive it by 10/17 to call back with a fax # so they can fax me the request.

I feel like some movement is better than nothing.

Much thanks to JimmyHou for encouraging me to follow up and not continue waiting. By the way, I contacted the senator not congressman like my post above said.
