Nope - we just included the marriage certificate and all the paperwork in the guide/Vanessa's thread (which is really what we followed most closely: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/)

Yes, its better to include evidence with the AOS given the concurrent filing of I-130 and I-485.

Besaangel there IS no concurrent filing. This is the FAMILY visa forum meaning people here have already done this stuff in order to come to the US. As the OP came over on a K1 there is no I-130 and no need for evidence of relationship unless you are called for an interview... which for K1 filers is a 50/50 chance.

OP, as stated, there is no need for evidence to be sent. most of the time K1's don't have this stuff until much later so there's not much to send if you send AOS asap after marriage. The best idea is to make sure you get the SSN, before your I-94 expires so that you can start adding yourself to health insurance, bank accounts (not all bank account need it) etc.

On a phone note, my husbands phone company wouldn't let me be added on the bill unless he signed a new contract but there's a section called "mail to" or something like that on their system. So now our phone bill comes to both our names but only my husbands name is on the contract. The same can be done for some of the other bills as well to prove we live together.

Copy of marriage certificate and stuff recommended in guide was it for us. We did not even send extra passport photo in package

On a phone note, my husbands phone company wouldn't let me be added on the bill unless he signed a new contract but there's a section called "mail to" or something like that on their system. So now our phone bill comes to both our names but only my husbands name is on the contract. The same can be done for some of the other bills as well to prove we live together.

Ooh, that is good to know. I'm trying to do as many things as possible now - even if we don't have an AOS interview, I'd like to have an easy time of it gathering evidence for ROC in a few years. I'm in the process today of adding Sifa to my 403(b) (like a 401(k) for non-profit employees) and figuring out how to get an official copy of my group life insurance beneficiary stuff. Good times!

Not the same with my husbands. He needed to give my SSN, show our marriage certificate AND show a letter that had both our names on it proving we lived together and didn't get married for insurance benefits (we're with BCBS). I was a little shocked but not worried of course

My I-94 already expired 5 days ago. I applied for my SSN about a month and half ago, and still haven't received it yet...

We were planning on sending the packet tomorrow. We can't get anything in both our names without a SSN. Now, I have a feeling we are not going to have a strong application with almost no evidence.

It's okay. it's not the end of the world

You can still be added to your husbands account without a SSN (in most cases). You can still be added to the phone bill (like I explained above) and also some other bills that way too. You can still get affidavits from friends and family (and your landlord if you have one), photos from your wedding, evidence of receiving mail at the same address. Depending on your state you might be able to get state ID (some need a current I-94.. can't hurt to check). There's always hope. Lots of people are in your situation.

Re the SSN, did you get a receipt showing you applied? I've read that you can call the SSA and ask them for your SSN over the phone (after answering some security questions of course). As long as you applied prior to the 2 weeks before you I-94 expired you should get it, but if you don't, like i said, it's not the end of the world

Don't fret! You don't need to send in evidence with the initial application. I bet you have more evidence than you might think And once you get your SSN you can start adding away, and by the time the interview rolls around (if you have one) I bet you'll have a few more things. But bottom line: you don't need to send in evidence with your AOS application.

Don't bother sending anything except what is required for now but the stuff you mentioned would be good to put aside in an "evidence" box (or folder) you have somewhere for IF you get called for interview (remember not everyone does, especially if you file gets sent to California (CSC)). It will give you more time to gather evidence. If you want to send your package now without writing your SSN on it that's fine, write "none" because you don't know what it is yet. Definitely go in to the SSA to find out what the deal is and if you can at least get the NUMBER and then you can add your name to stuff a lot easier.

There's an AOS thread in my signature which will tell you what I sent (a lot of other people followed it too without issue). I have since had my AP and EAD approved and am just waiting for the GC (well and to get my EAD in the mail so I can start working and get a US drivers licence )

That makes me wonder about something...I filled out all the forms in my 'married name' and I still haven't received any legal proof of me taking my husband's name. I thought I would have my SSN by the time we send the AOS, but I don't and I-94 expired already. I understand that my greencard arrives with the name I wish to use. But is it ok to send in all the papers without no legal proof that I already use my last name/married name?

I, also, have another question. What makes the cases that get forwarded to CSC approved without an interview?

I have read your AOS thread many times. I was one of the members who given your original post a +1. It hepled me a lot while preparing the forms. Thank you for all the help!
