AOS Without NOA2?

We filled last May 1st 08 received our NOA1 within days and waited, come 23rd of September 08 we were approved and we only found out early October thanks to the Standard letter from NVC that they received our approved petition and will be sending it onto the embassy.

heres the problem even to this day we would still not have known that we were approved if it wasn't for the comunications from NVC and Embassy in London. Not only have we never had an email, and online our case still stays received and pending but we never did recieve an NOA2. When Vito phoned up the helpline three times to find out why, he kept getting the how do you know you are approved??? I can't see that?? its been suggested we file for replacement and spend $300 + ( I don't think so) One said she would request an update on our case, there was a touch but no change.

My visa runs out on 18th may, we married Thursday 9th of April , and we want to get our AOS Package together so we can send it off as soon as our marriage certificate comes through. But we are aware that we need the NOA2 for the package.

Its been suggested a while ago that we could substitute the NVC letter for the NOA2, but the link no longer works. Does anyone know if this is true or heard of a success story? or do we really need to set up an infopass appointment?

I have never heard of using the NVC letter as a substitute for a copy of the NOA2.

im sorry- the 340$ fee is out of this world!

i too have yet to receive my papaper NOA2,

like you the only way we knew we were approved was b/c of the NVC letter

i think it's a racket!

if this one stupid piece of paper is so important, why would they not send it via certified mail?

bump up the fee to cover the cost of certified mail

I have seen where people kept calling the USCIS till they talked to someone sympathetic to their case and re-sent the NOA2 for free.

So far we called three times about this since we realized it was missing and probably not coming each time it was hard to get through to a human let alone speak to someone who could actually have the power to find out why.

1st time we needed to wait a while longer

2nd time was the $340 form for duplicates

3rd time she put a service request in to update our case and there was a touch and no change to status. each time they asked us how we knew we were approved because they saw received and pending.

I am not sure what we are doing wrong in phoning the number, perhaps we are pressing the wrong buttons or getting the wrong person.

I am going to try one more time tomorrow via phone and see what can be done. How do we set up an info pass appointment if that's what it will take? and does Vito (usc have to do the phone call or can i do it while he is at work?

We never received a NOA2, either. We tried and tried and tried to obtain one but.... it was a no go. What I did was write a short explanation in the covering letter of why I was not including the NOA2 in the package. I provided evidence to prove our attempts at obtaining one, along with related correspondence from USCIS. I also included the email notification from CRIS along with the Consulate transfer NOA...... which is probably the same as the NVC letter you are referring to. My application was transferred to the CSC and I was approved without an RFE or an interview. In your case, Hannah, if you do not have hard or soft copy evidence of your attempts to obtain the NOA2, just make note of your actions as you've done in your Post# 12. Good luck.
