  1. Good looking boy Operator! Congrats to you and the Mrs!

Thanks Teddy, he's pretty darn cute.

I went to the US Embassy today for the American Citizen Services visa hour and a CO gave me the scoop on how to work dual citizenship. The Chinese don't allow it but it really isn't that hard, amazingly the US embassy here will give a pro-forma visa to a US citizen with a Chinese passport which effectively keeps Chinese passport control from catching dual citizens.

I was amazed at how helpful the guy was.

  2. Hey losers! What are the plans for Thanksgiving? I'll be with Mr U and his insane family again, which means kimchi, whiskey, arm-wrestling and 80s video games.

Dreaming of a Turkey sammich with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce (LOTS of mayo). I really miss ho-made mac-n-cheese recently, I'm gonna buy an oven soon and cook it up which means a trip to the expensive grocery store to buy overpriced but delicious cheese from Wisconsin!

    Thanks Mave now I'm hungry.

  3. Congrats to you and your wife Operator, I hope all goes well! You picked a great day to have him as the 26th of November is my b-day as well.

Dex is a good lookin boy and the women love him, your son will be all set with blonde hair, brown eyes, 4 paws and a tail!

Thanks Teddy, my wife thinks its a good day from the astrological perspective

I doubt we can pull off the blonde hair based on my wife's coloring but the tail is entirely possible, the gene pool from my side is a little...shall we say; murky.

How exciting! Hope you and Mrs Operator are getting all the rest you can before the super-cute tyranny of the baby begins. :D

I totally read this as 'super-cute tranny'

We are excited and trying to get a lot of rest. Her Mom is going to be here to help with things...which poses other issues but I'm keeping my mouth shut about that. :innocent:

  4. Congratulations on the baby.

Just send them a document with all the information you've stated here and have them print it and carry it with them...Staying at your address to visit their sister/daughter and returning to China on mm/dd/yy. No need to go into great detail on the purpose of the visit, they've already been issued a visa. Don't worry too much about the language issue, CBP are experienced in dealing with that.

  5. Hello everyone I am planning to submit my i-129f and G325A paperwork very soon and one of the questions it asked on which embassy that we would be using. We have two options based on location and they are Beijing and Shenyang. My question is quite simple and if one is better than the other as far as being convenient, or having less problems. It really makes no difference to us which one we go to but it will definitely be one of these two. I would really appreciate any suggestions along with the reasons of why one is better than the other.

    Thank you,

    JC and Liping

As stated above all approved K-1 visa petitions for PRC citizens will go through the immigrant visa unit in Guangzhou.

Even though a K-1 is categorized as a non-immigrant visa they are processed by the IV unit and the consulate in GZ is the only IV unit for China.

  6. Good looking dog Teddy, I can smell that puppy breath and feel those sharp puppy teeth from here.

I crate trained all my dogs. People forget that dogs are denning animals and feel comfortable and safe in confined spaces. Some people make the mistake of building a dog house for an outside dog too big and their dog will dig a hole and sleep under it.

    Good boy Dex.
