sara82 your husband is not in jail because of you, he is in prison because of his abusive behavior against you!. Stop blaming yourself. He is the only one responsible for his wrong doings.Anyone capable of inflict violence against another human being should face jail time.
We can't change or control other people's actions, we can only control how we react, and you reacted properly .You should see some counselor/psychologist to help you understand what's going in your life. My dear love is not enough, because a relationship without respect means ANYTHING. Respect yourself enough to walk away.

You have a lot to think about, and I know you're scared and confused right now. I really think that if you call one of those numbers and talk to someone, it will help you to be calmer and sort out your options. I hope you will make that call - please?

You need to save your pennies and meet. There's no way around that. You will also never get a work visa for her, because they have many restrictions and requirements and you don't meet them in this situation.
No matter the relationship, you should spend a good amount of real time together before getting married or even considering it.
It does not, thankfully. We have enough poor as it is, we don't need to be willing importing more.
USCIS only cares about your income and assets, as you need to prove that you meet the guidelines for the I-134 and I-864. Her assets and/or income do not matter at all in this equation.
Free speech doesn't apply to private venues for forums. Don't be that guy. No one likes that guy.

Jon and Sol, as much as I enjoyed your first reference to Dan Savage, you outdid yourself on your second post, which I suspect will be received even more obliquely than the first. From my vantage point, your last sentence may be the single most exquisitely ironic post I have ever seen on VJ.
Therefore, by the power vested in me, I thusly present you with a full 10 out of 10 points.

"Free speech" doesn't apply to privately owned message boards. You can say what you like here as long as it abides by the terms of the TOS. Others can also respond to you in ways that may oppose your posts as long as they abide by the terms of the TOS. It's give and take.
But, as some friendly advice, I would recommend that as a recent joiner you might tone down the rhetoric. First, it alienates potential allies and helpful people who have meaningful advice. Second, this process costs what it costs, and takes as long as it takes. It's not a money making venture, and it isn't intended to torture people. It's an imperfect system, but it does a decent job most of the time. Lastly, bringing a relative to the States is a privilege, not a right, and can be helpful to remember this. We are free to marry whom we choose (with a few restrictions) but the US is not obligated to allow the entry of any non-US citizen. Please take what I say in the manner I intend it -- not as criticism, but as advice. I can see this thread already beginning to spin out of control and it needn't.

The current thought about addiction as far as I understand is that it is not something you can just stop because you want to. So even if she knows she has a problem it is not a matter of "wanting it enough." Instead, she is incapable of controlling whatever aspects of her life that are in disarray and will always return to alcohol. In treatment, she would get full time help to address these issues and the underlying causes, and explore her relationship with alcohol and the outside world.
I highly suggest that you get her treatment instead of just leaving her to own devices and trying to have her go cold turkey on her own.
Covering up for her is called "enabling" and often required outside help too.

You can marry. Then you would have to start all over with a spousal visa.
You might also get AP with the spousal visa, so I don't see how doing that would save any time at all. Start over, wait for petition approval, NVC stage which is delayed, then interview, then AP again. In one year you'd be about where you are right now.
    Good luck.

There is no right to immigration. Even with a visa or a GC, there is no right to enter the US. The only people guaranteed entry to the US are US Citizens.
The OP has no spouse to go live with, and she wants to use a spousal visa. Anyone encouraging her is encouraging illegal activity and fraud.

Mind changing (note, moments after baggage claim, which seems to be a constant) only makes it harder for others in the future to get b2 visas...you and your fiancee wanted the vo to believe and trust you....now what? Recently, I found out that one of my employees did the same thing....lied to get a tourist visa for her foreign fiancee...they married 2 days after he arrived...I fired her two days later. I don't have much patience (none) for those who cheat our system and fully expect to be rewarded for doing so (she foolishly invited me to the wedding, where the story came out...she and her new husband were actually laughing about how 'dumb' the VO and our border officials were....the laughter stopped on Monday, when she showed up at the office, with her stuff from her desk all boxed up...I even asked somebody to put a nice bow on the box.
Bottom line: a B2 visa is supposed to be an object of trust, given to the trustworthy. When that trust is violated, it ruins the opportunities for others.

Colombia ranks around 3rd in the world in the quantity of fraudulent documents presented during visa interviews and a significant percentage of visa holders try to claim asylum as well (once they arrive). Blame the abusers, not the COs.

A story for people who think they can lie their way in to the US.
I recently had a neighbor who was renting a room to a Filipina girl next door to where I live. I never paid much attention but I would often see her outside with her Filipino boyfriend. He did not live there but was with her often and it was noticeable they were a couple.
The neighbor lost his house to the bank and they all moved out one day. Weeks later I had a knock at my front door and it was two men in suits who showed their badges and identified themselves as imigration officers.
They wanted to ask me some questions about my neighbor who used to live next door. They opened a binder and showed me a photo of the Filipina girl. I said yes she used to live next door but recently moved out. Then they showed me a photo of the Filipino boyfriend. I said I have seen that guy with her daily but he did not live there. I told them that I suspected it was her boyfriend or something because I would see them hugging and kissing outside. Then they showed me a third photo of a middle aged white guy who I have never seen before. I told them I have never seen him. I asked them what they were investigating and they said the Filipino guy in the photo was her husband in the Philippines and they were supposed to be divorced. He was here illegally and they were looking for him also.
A week later I received another knock on my door and it was the Filipina girl with some white guy I have never seen before. #######? I have never met her or spoke to her before but only saw her outside many times. I was surprised that she knew I was the one the police talked to.
She was overly nice and introduced herself and then introduced the white guy as her husband. She was going on and on about her visa situation and bla bla bla. I nicely but firmly stopped her from talking. I told her that two federal imigration officers came to my house and showed me her photo and asked if I knew her. I said yes she lived next door. Then I told her how they showed me a photo of her Filipino boyfriend. I said you know the little guy your always with?? Her eyes got big. Then I told her they showed me a photo of a middle aged white guy who Ive never seen before. I looked at the guy standing behind her and I said I guess that was you ha??
She asked me to write a letter stating that I was wrong in what I said to the officers. #######? No I don't know you and I hope the best for you but im not going to lie to a federal officer. She tried to get the white guy to talk to me and I again said im not interested in their personal situation.
I asked them to leave and not bother me again. The old neighbor who rented a room to the girl even came knocking on my door a few days later begging me to tell the immigration officers I made a mistake. I told him I was going to call the police if any of them ever bothered me again.
Im not sure whatever happened to them but I sure wasn't going to lie to federal officers.

Please refrain from person judgment. A person has the right to practice whatever religion they choose to or to not practice any religion if they so chose. The reason they left is only relevant if it was a true emergency, which it was not.

This is from the guides above, http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide
1.A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance(e) should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).

2.Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance(e) to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance(e) should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).

3.Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance(e) and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).

4.I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

5.You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

    (A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
    (B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)
© If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern
    (D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.

6.A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well)

7.Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)
