v333k reacted to nwctzn in May I request a deferred Oath?
You can reschedule anything with USCIS like interview or oath. However, it will cause typically a significant delay, so it is your call. I saw in one tracker that the oath got delayed by two months because of rescheduling. Of course, it will depend on your local USCIS office. So you would need the feedback of someone who rescheduled their oath at your office. Best of luck!

Refer to the Naturalization Guide here on VJ for lots of good information. Also, do some reading here in the Citizenship forum.

v333k got a reaction from Brown Family in Eligibility to apply Citizenship - Please help
You became a permanent legal resident on December 4th, which means you are eligible 90 days prior to Dec 4th of 2012. Yes, it is 90 days before your 3rd year LPR anniversary and not marriage.
Biometrics - some people do not get another notice when applying for naturalization if they have taken ones within 12 months, but others have said that they had to go anyway.
Read the naturalization guide - very very helpful and has all the information you need. http://www.uscis.gov...ticle/M-476.pdf

v333k got a reaction from Penguin_ie in NOW MARRIED,WHATS THE ANSWER TO Q1 On N-445
No no no... that's the wrong way to go at it. If you say no and they find out you are in fact married - that sort of thing could hold up the process. Take with you your marriage certificate and show them (if they ask) that the date on it is after your filed and (hopefully) after your interview. Life does not go on hold when you apply for citizenship and they know it. If you do say yes, show documents that support you... then you have nothing to be concerned about. In fact, it shows your moral character...
    my 2 cents...

v333k reacted to Kathryn41 in bills and statements from the time I submitted the application
You have already submitted everything else they asked for with the application? The tax transcripts? The marriage certificate?
I brought a whole folder of additional evidence to show our marriage is still valid and the officer wasn't interested in seeing it. Some people have been asked to show their evidence, though, so it is definitely a good idea to bring it to the interview. Your evidence is good - a lease and bank statements. You might want to include a copy of your wife's driver's license or State ID and that along with your State ID or Driver's License show that you are both still at the same address. If you have receipts for bills you have paid and your wife has paid for looking after the house, or medical receipts or health care cards showing you both on the same health care insurance plan, those are other things you might want to include, just as extras.
Will you be getting a new lease if the one expires the end of November? If so, you could also bring that one too.
    Good luck with the interview.

This is a problem for us also but note that it is trips over 24 hours only! Even an "overnight" trip may not be over 24 hours. We almost are never in Canada more than 24 hours, we live only a few minutes from the border and go to Montreal for the day or even just for dinner, ice skating, go to IKEA, etc. We were there today for about 6 hours. I did not mention those at all. We had one trip to Quebec City of 4 days and that is it.
Maybe that narrows it down for you?

I had dozens of trips to list for my K-1 application. I wrote "See attachment X" and I attached a sheet listing the trips (as best as I could figure out using the stamps in my passport). I signed and dated the attachment. It was not an issue for me.

You can apply 90 days before the 5 year anniversary of your "resident since" date on your greencard, so sometime in January 2012. Do not apply early!
The Guides will tell you what you need to submit: http://www.visajourney.com/content/naturalization_guide

v333k got a reaction from Brother Hesekiel in Can I apply for citizenship even though...
You can apply once the 90 day window is open. If your naturalization is approved, then they will adjudicate your I-751 and approve it as well.
You do not need to wait until the 1 year extension expires. However, before your 1 year extension expires, you should get another extension just to be safe...

A K-1 visa is only letting you to move to the USA and get married it does not give you a legal permanent resident status. Filing the AOS gives you the legal permanent resident status when you obtain the green card.

Almost all male U.S. citizens, and male aliens living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service. so if you become LPR after you reach 26 yrs then you don't need to register. but it is recommended to contact the SSA and request a status letter, which might help clear any doubts but it is not required.

You can only document the ones you remember, and state you asked for CBP records. Check credit card, gas receipts, friends and relatives for missing dates.

No, when you go to your interview, the IO will ask you about any changes that need to be noted on your n-400 (such as travel, citations, etc...). Provide the dates and make sure you have your passport with you - he/she might want to verify travel dates by looking for the exit/entry stamps.
    That's it!

You have been detained for shoplifting, charged with petty theft and paid the fine. You did not do that because you were accused mistakenly, but because you were guilty as charged. You are a thief.
Yet you did not disclose this, wrongfully assuming the Feds are too stupid to find out within a comprehensive FBI background test.
Tell you what: if I had been the I.O. I would have seen this as a deliberate misrepresentation and declared you a persona non grata for the rest of your natural life. If I were you, I would thank my god for sparing me deportation and keep my mouth shut for another 3 years. If I was the judge getting your complaint on my table, I would order you deported before going to the bathroom.
You apparently have no idea how lucky you got.

If it says you need to bring it, then you need to. It's best to take along a copy of your whole package just in case something got lost or misplaced and the interviewer doesn't have it.

I KNOW! YAY! The butterflies in my tummy are killing me! Everything is set... got the hotel reservation so we can be closer to the court house. It's a 7-hr drive for us round trip so we'll be driving up there the day before. Will kind of look around and find the place so we'll know where to go in the morning. This is really special and we don't want to screw things up by getting lost and late for the ceremony

You shouldn't be registered to vote unless you filled out a voter registration form, such as the one that was attached to the DL application. Juries are selected from a variety of public records, including voter registration rolls. Hopefully, some overzealous A.C.O.R.N. affiliate did not register you to vote without informing you first.

How about a copy of our check made out to the Department of Homeland security for 680 bucks from our joint checking account, that proves we have a joint checking account. And copies of our 1099's with both our names on it from our savings account and CD bank also with both our names on it also proving these are joint accounts.
As far as we were concerned, that is all they needed to know that we have three joint bank accounts. And as far as my wife's IO being so concerned about whether we were sharing our wealth together, she had no further questions on this subject.
