Ok yall.. looks like this strike is going to happen.. lets work on threads for how to get documents from point A to point B C D & E.. John and I are going to courier and pay to courier back from embassy and ask them to email us when they can.. anyone had any issues with getting the embassy to Email your interview date?
I thought that the easiest way to find out your interview date was to call the DOS number in the US everyday?
Is Royal Mail striking more than just tomorrow and the next day?? I keep checking the RM website and so far that is the only dates. Not happy since we are still needing to get police cert
Thanks for the comments yall.. we wont have our interview scheduled til we send in the checklist tomorrow
then i will start calling if hes not notified within a week of the schedueld interview date
Also - Ian and Lisa.. I hope they do hire extras they are gonna need it

Just got home from the interview. I kinda felt bad that I had to dispose the usb given to me by my fiance, as well as my perfume because the embassy won't allow me to enter with those. But after several hours in the embassy, I feel glad. I passed the interview!!!!
My passport with visa will be delivered to me anytime soon.
Also, I was able to get my CFO seminar certificate today. It's a very productive day for me.
To everyone, goodluck!!! I'm sure you'll be done with this visa process soon.
Yipp Yipp Hooraaaaayyy!!! so happy for you guys very best of luck in your life together. We are all right on your shirt tails to finish up as well

We are sending in the checklist tomorrow to get our interview (chews nails). All docs are in but the cert and MOC.. we will have those before the interview date we are sure.. according to UK interview thread, if its not received when we go to interview, they will just hold visa issue til they get it. I'm not worried but John is.
Anyone offer some words of support or personal experienced??
Best wishes to all will post the next happenin' when it happenens.. lol

Hey Marm.. thanks for that! You are awesome.. Oh wow.. age.. is yet another gray hair
He got a letter and it said to send in the checklist only. We have been told don't send the checklist back til you have all the items on the list.. so we are wiating for the cert and MOC. Is it your recommendation for us to wait to send the checklist?? He already did his medical on 10-7. Thanks a load!!
The most important thing is to send in all the required forms first, you can hold on to the checklist until you gather the pending documents, but if the police certificate is all that you are waiting for, I would say send in the checklist. You will most probably have the PC by the time the interview day comes, and if for some reason it gets delayed reaching you, you can be approved pending the PC, and once you send it in to the embassy, your visa is issued. Have you sent in all the forms (sorry if I missed your post saying so if you already did)? The most important thing is to send in all the forms, see this link: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...processing.html. You can send in all the DS forms and hold on to the checklist until you have all your documents for the interview and then send in the checklist. If you feel like you have already waited too long, I would say send in the checklist while you are waiting for the PC (granted that you have already applied for it a while ago) and you will be eligible for an interview date. Then by the time your interview comes around, you will have your PC or if not, you have the option of sending it in after the interview.
Ok Marm!! Here we go.. we are sending the checklist tomorrow. All they want is this one document to set up the interview, jsut the checklist.. when they get that they set the date for interview. At interview, he brings all the papers. Good luck to us all!!

Hi MARM
I have called the Embassy today in fact the "status check" on their website does not apply to K-1 visa applications
Thanks for your help
Oh...
Sorry about misinforming you then, but the embassy should clearly note that on their webpage for avoiding confusion. Thanks for confirming this!
omg nooooooooooo

Hey Marm oh wise one
lol I wonder if you've seen any feedback on how the Royal Mail possible strike is )or could be)effecting the mailing of packets, setting up interview, mailing passports etc.. are any of the services who have to touch our "stuff" willing to use an over night service ot avoid the Royal Mail?? Thanks and Hiiiii!!
This process has aged me a 100 years! (I am only 22) As far as the postal strikes are concerned, I don't know if you know about this already but there is a section on royalmail.com about these postal strikes: The page has last been updated Oct 17, 09: Royal Mail Postal Strikes. But you can access the page easily from the royalmail.com homepage by clicking on the "Postal Strikes" link there. The Royal Mail does not effect mailing of the passports to/from the embassy because the embassy uses DX (SMS) courier service for receiving passports and sending out visas/passports, which is totally independent of Royal Mail (and extremely reliable thank God). The embassy uses regular royal mail for the rest of their correspondence which includes: sending out the interview letter and sending out the packet 3 request letter. If for any reason, you do not receive the interview letter, you can always still attend the interview because the security guards have a daily list of appointments and can confirm your name there. And also, if you do not receive the packet 3 request letter, you can always go ahead and fill out all the forms and gather the requested information online (don't have the link right now, but you can easily dig it out of this thread or the UK 2009 Interview thread) and send it to the embassy as your packet 3 response, because currently packet 3 from the embassy is nothing but a paper with the link to all the forms and info they request from you, which is easily found on their website. And DOS is your best friend in this whole process: 202-663-1225 press 1, then 0 to speak to a representative. DOS (Dept of State) will be able to tell you whether the embassy has logged your case on their system (from NVC), whether the embassy has sent out packet 3 letter to you (so whether or not you get it, you can go ahead and prepare the response and send it in on time), and whether or not the embassy as assigned you an interview date (so let's say it is a day before the interview and you don't have the letter from the embassy, you can still go to the interview). Now, as far as you sending out correspondence to the embassy, Royal Mail Special Delivery/ Registered Delivery is still what the embassy accepts. I don't know about any other services people have used or the embassy accepts for sending papers to them. Hope this info helps

Thank you, Marm. I'm oh so glad that you're as wise as you are. But I'm NOT glad it's from putting in so much more than your fair share of time with all of this. I hope your happily ever after is right around the corner.
Thanks for your kind words
I enjoy helping everyone out here, this process is as stressful as it is and I am glad to offer help in ways that I can. We too hope that it isn't longer for us!

so i now have everything, forms done, medical report and police check in hand, I-134 posted 2 weeks ago..... stupid delays in customs!!!! *sigh*
(((((Warren and Cindy!!))))))
I hear the UK strike either will or wont happon on Thursday :-ss So many things to do via mail it scares me senseless to think Royal Mail will be our stumbling block.. but we have a fix.. thanks to your idea.. If the strike happens and we dont have the certificate and MOC (memorandom of conviction) yet, we will redo everything via overnight services. (DHL) for exampe.. we will then pay any and all additional charges for anyone else that has to have their fingers in this pie to send EVERYTHING via overnight services. (Hence "raspberries to the Royal Mail Service!!"
:P
GL Scott... bless your heart, you've been our rock and our affirmation of belief.. keep the faith friend..

ok Warren, I was like whaaaat??? lol
Who else are we missin.. i was checkin out the UK interview thread, seems its moving fast once I get that dang checklist to them.. 2 more forms to go should be here within 2 weeks (crosses more stuff again)
-
Scott,
I am with you on this one! Feeling like we're waiting for the NOA2 again. I have no answers.. no one has replied to my e mails. Ugh its so frustrating.. I just want to make sure we are in the right direction here. I WISH our file was still at NVC so I could tell them to send it to the RIGHT place!
While I was in Aruba Joseph formally proposed though, with a beaaaaaautiful diamond to boot. I wasnt expecting it.. it was so sweet-- now just makes it way more difficult to not be with him. Enjoy your time with Thuy.. it makes it so much easier waiting when your together.
Awww hang in there Meg!! Congrads on the "officiatin'"
I just found out we still have another form we have to get before we do the checkllist.. grrrr is right.. lol
-
Same bad news each day.. in a holding pattern waiting... its just like waiting for the NOA2 again... I am so excited to be going overto visit the family but I wish it were longer than a week.
I am really happy for everyone that is so much closer to having the visa in hand...
Our thoughts are with you both for a quick move out of the NVC, and a great speedy outcome at the consolate
Warren, did you already send in your checklist and forms to the embassy??
-
thanks gang!
Thats good Wendy.. how long do you think it will take for your interview?
Well Scott, from what I can tell, the mail system in UK is in despair right now.. they are having serious problems. given that, we are waiting on the police certificate to arrive. Once it comes in (was requested/mailed on 10/7), but with our luck... it will schedule an interview before that certificate comes in. We decided to go ahead and send the checklist on Wednesday 10-14-09 declaring we have everything, by the time they set up the interview he should have the certificate.. That's the plan
What do you guys think?? Are we tempting fate?
-
Thanks Aya~!! waves back
I am really hopin for ya Scott.. it will be here soon. Got good news from UK forum.. I'm not scared anymore lol...

London is pretty easy when it comes to relationship proof, most people get asked a few questions but they don't even ask to see proof. When my husband had his interview, he had a huge folder of pictures, train tickets, booking passes, chat logs, and they didn't ask to see anything. They were more concerned that he'd be supported when he got here (I-134).
Wendy and John:
You mail just the forms they ask for (DS-230, 156, 156K etc) right away and then when you have everything on the checklist, you mail the checklist itself back. They will schedule an interview once they have the checklist. The checklist just states that you're ready for an interview. All the supporting documents (Birth certificate, police certificate, I-134, Passport etc...) get taken to the interview with you.
I think London stepped up some, and it's not taking near as long as it was. But I'm unsure. It's so unpredictable at times.
Best of luck to everyone and I hope London keeps speeding up!
Bless you Oh noble VJ member!!
Many Many Many Thanks!!!

Re-Post.. If anyone can help I'd apreciate it.. thanks
Hi everyone! I am normally in the June '09 Filers Thead, but I've advanced to the "We want our interview" thread lol. Which brings me to yor fabulous forum ~waves to all~
Of course I come armed with a question (or 2)
. We received our letter from the Embassy that they have the packet from NVC, so we are on to the next step to get his interview. I'm pretty sure I understand, but would like to be sure, So I'm here to ask you wonderful people.
1. Once we fill in these forms (DS-230, 156, 156K etc), we mail what they ask for with the checklist to the embassy and then they set up the date for the interview, right?
and
2.Is it actually taking 3 months from the date we send in our forms to get the interview?
I hope all of your Journeis are quick and painless, Our best wishes to each of you. Thank you for your help!

I photocopied the reciept for my ring, the business card of the person we got it from, congrats from our friends on facebook but forgot to save my engagement cards from friends
I was going to send one of my invitations and information from vendors i am talking to for the wedding but a little scared to do this incase they see it as us being too cocky and thinking were going to get the visa.....do you think they will think like that?
Nah, I'd not think so.. they want proof, their feelings don't count lol.. plus all they want is something showing you are engaged.. what better way then to show them what you have in any form..
-
Thank you everyone for all the information on here, it has been so very helpful. I hope that my Paul and I will fall in to the same boat and once we get out of AP at NVC, our process will move quickly. Wedding date planned for 28 January 2010, and I think we can still make that date, so long as our file begins to move again. We have everything ready to send back to the consulate the moment Paul receives his packet. He has in possession or is in process of receiving this week, all of his documentation. I do have one question... what constitutes "proof of engagement"? I gave him a promise ring, but that was the only exchange. Would one of our wedding invitations be appropriate? (LOL they are not invited to attend, unless they can get him here before Christmas and his birthday - joke there, of course, not bribing gov't officials).
Best of luck to all and may you be reunited with your loved ones soon and never have to say long good-byes again!
Malena
Hi Malena, John and I each wrote a aletter to each other as a commitment to marry when we sent in our I-129F, that might help, if you have bought rings they accept receipts of purchase of those too. I'm sending my wedding invitation to the embassy in my packet as well so they can see my scheduled date. I'm also sending my contract wih the chapel showing its reservation date. Good Luck on your Journey!!
