  1. Riggs went to London for his Medical today.

I'll be writing for him, as he says I type faster...

This morning, I read him all the reviews that have been recent on this forum, about how they hand over their passports, have to sign the back of their passport photos, fill out forms etc. I wish him good luck, and fall asleep (after trying to sleep for an hour or so) I then get a panicked call at 4:30 in the morning from Riggs saying that he didn't bring his passport or get the photos. I was not happy, but jumped out of bed, because he said he needed help finding a photobooth somewhere in London. I had no idea, but told him to look for any shopping center he can find, and I will try to text him information for a place that was close to the street he said he was on. Found Snappy Snaps online, text him the address and phone number, called him back to get straight to voicemail.. He then calls after I've been half asleep for 10 or 15 minutes to say that he got the pictures done in some shop, and is on his way back to the office. I couldn't even get out of bed before he said he was back and had to go. Fell asleep for another hour, then wake up to him calling asking for me to e-mail someone a scan of his passport photo page. Get up, find the jpg on my computer, and e-mail it to the address he said. Fall asleep again and then wake up at a normal hour to him getting home, letting me know that everything else went smooth, he had the male doctor, and everything was fine. He also brought his vaccination records, but there was another one that he needed, and they told him to have his GP fax the proof once its done, and once they receive that, they'll send it on to the embassy!

All in all, he was very frazzled, had no sleep the night before, but somehow made it through with success! He even said that other people showed up for their appointments without passport or photo and were told to reschedule... I asked him what made him so special, and he said it was probably because he looked the receptionist in the face instead of the cleavage, which he said was a common thing with most guys walking in there... I guess it all boils down to Riggs being lucky for being a leg man instead of a chest man :luv:

    LOL! well done you two!

  5. Note to the thread.. I'm posting as well in Interviews at the US Embassy in London.. so if ya don't catch updates here.. they are there as well. I called DOS to change my date due to a family illness. My sister was dignosed with Pancreatic Cancer 5 months ago and Chemo isn't going so well. I don't know if she will make it til January, so I moved my wedding up to 12-19. I'm rousting up an officiant in hopes that I can do this.. if the Embassy will move our interview date up. I pray for sis hourly .. as this disease has hit my whole family for years. I would love a little peek of sunshine in a dark and dreary existance.

I will let yall know what they say, I had to write them a letter of explanation as to why I want it moved up. We will see what they say. Hope all are well in VJ land.

"Good lunck Wendy and John, i hope this works out for you, make sure you let us all know and im sorry to hear about your sister"

    Thanks Lesley

  8. Had a nice chat with gmj last n ight (Ginny) we decided to call the embassy and try to get it moved up to Nov or early Dec. John and I are going to shoot fora Christmas wedding due to my sisters failing health (so she can attend), so hopefully they will be sympathetic I will report the outcome.

Talked to the embassy this morning. I was instructed to send an email (after they took my $16 of course) to the London Embassy and given a specific code to refer to.. I've emailed them just now and await a reply. She said give it a day or two for an answer. She said it will be quick as they don't receive much correspondence.

    Here's what I wrote:

Good Morning. I spoke with one of your Embassy Representatives today "Evelyn" and explained our situation and respectfully request to have our interview date moved up.

Our circumstance is this. We would like to move our interview date up to the end of November or first week of December as we have to move the wedding date up to 12-12-09 or 12-19-09 (pending officiant availability).

My Sister whom I want at my wedding has been battling pancreatic cancer for 5 months. Her health just took a turn for the worse and she has been diagnosed as not having much time left with us. If we can get an earlier interview date, and our visa is approved, John could arrive in the states and we could have a small ceremony to celebrate our future with my family and she could be a part of it.

This would mean everything to us.

If you can see it possible to grant this request, it will mean so much to John and I and our families. Your consideration and review is extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

Here's to a quick reply from the embassy...

Wow, Wendy. Given these horrendous circumstances, I really hope they come through for you. We lost my brother to Cancer, a year ago last month. After battling it bravely for four years he took a turn for the worst, and we lost him within a few months. We were all with him when he passed. It was a life altering experience. Those final months were such walking hell. I have to commend you on how incredibly strong and amazingly upbeat you've been, considering the sheer hell you and your family must be going through.

I know that now, a year later, I STILL feel guilty planning such a celebratory event. My whole family is having a hard time moving on, still. It comes with the territory of grief. So I can only imagine you feel that as well, it's just human nature. And yet, you've been so brave, not mentioning a single word of your sister's illness to us, even though I'm sure it's been torture, watching this happen to her at such a happy time in your life. I know it was that way for me. It even postponed our applying for this visa for six months. And yet, despite all of the information you've shared about yourself and John and your situation, you've never said a thing about this horrible tragedy. How amazingly stoic of you. Such restraint in the face of such overwhelming tragedy. You're an inspiration, truly. Those of us who have lost a close loved one, a sibling, to this barbaric disease, understand exactly what you're going through. And I am blown away by how you've never, ever let it show. I would imagine it would be out of a desire for privacy, I certainly understand and respect that. I wouldn't be discussing it now, except that you told us all about it by reposting your letter.

I will keep you, your poor poor sister, and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers. I wish for comfort and peace for you and John, during what will be, I'm sure, a very bittersweet wedding ceremony. (L)(L)

Thank you for your kind words Roughsweet. Your absolutely correct in all that you said regarding pain, and pleasure from all of lifes unexpected turns. I too lost my mother in 1991 to pancreatic cancer and my brother when he was 12 to adeno carcenoma just 3 years prior to her death. Having gone through cervical cancer and melanoma myself, I have tasted this disease first hand. Everyone has there own battles and for our family cancer has been our demon.

I pray for all those who suffer direct or indirectly and hope that even a small amount of pleasure can lessen that pain. Your a special person as well to endure what you have. God speed. I will keep yall posted . Love to you my VJ family.

I was hoping Dave could get an interview around our moms birthdays which are Dec 10th & 11th. Originally I wanted it Dec 5th.. if we dont have one until January I am going to freak out and bawl. As though I havent been doing that enough today anyways. :crying::crying::crying::crying:

Awwww.... that probably means no interview for me until January...

  13. I'm kinda starting to think it looks like we can expect to have to wait until January. :(

I've a quick question, if anyone can clarify for me: does anyone know whether I can expect to receive a date for the interview (not the interview itself-just the actual interview letter) before my medical (which is the 26th November)? I'm worried that they aren't going to even send out a date for the interview until after the medical. Anyone know whether this is correct or not?

Have you called the DOS? they will tell you current status ...

I hope you're right about everyone getting their date quickly! Maybe the dam has broken at London and we'll all get good news soon!

May I ask what your travel and wedding dates are on your P3? I'm curious as to how far out they're scheduling interviews from people's travel date...

Thank you roughsweet. We put the 21st nov for travel and the 28th nov for wedding....the flight we had booked ages ago but we knew we'd end up changing it but the wedding wasn't set in stone...we're now looking at dec 19th.

Amandaaaaaaaaaaaaa Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!! I am pretty sure we put 1-10-10 as our wesdding date plans.. dang hindisght and 20/20 and all that.. lol I'm so happy for youuuuuuuu!!! yayyyyyyyy

  18. Is there a difference when you phone the DoS in terminology. They said to me they had received the packet 3 and logged it, and to wait for an interview date to be sent. I never got told elligible etc? Is this just a difference in terminology?

it's like a 2nd phase.. it went from logged in to wait on your itnerview date, to a week later being considered "eligible" Eligible means.. they have all the DS forms and checklist and can now schedule the interview date and send you packet 4 :)

    Hope this helps!

I was "logged" last week but on Monday became "eligible not scheduled". My theory is that you become logged when they open your packet 3,put it into your file and log you into the system, and then "eligible" when they process your forms and make sure there's nothing missing.

*Nods* that's what I think too. I believ those who were marked eligible this week will have a packet 4 in their hands within 2 weeks :)
