  1. K-1 Visa and Social Security Card:

    http://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/whatyou_need.htm

According to this - if you answer the DS-230 properly, your SS comes within 3 weeks.. nothing to do..

John loves the USA!! weeeeee hugs to ALL!!

Hi June Filers! I sure hope everyone is getting all their results and final stages of their Visa's. Quick update on John and I. (Aya your nearly there! Woo hoo) Congrads Scott as well! All others Congrads on getting this far!

On November 25th John was approved, pending his original BC and PC.. he sent those to the Embassy courier 2 days later. On Friday 12-4, John received the visa and mysterious brown packet. He booked his Flight and is due to Arrive Tuesday 12-15-09. POE is Newark NJ and he has a 2.5 hour layover to allow for customs and whatnot. After his arrival (1 week later) we will do the Social Security card, finalize the wedding plans and around 1-5-10 go get the marriage license. We are getting married on 1-23-2010.

After Married that following Monday, I am assured the officient will mail off any requiered forms to prepare for his AOS and EAD.

All my support and appreciation goes to each and everyone of you who have assisted both of us to make this possible. Your unrelenting pursuit for love and freedom are what makes this Country so wonderful. As each and every one of our loved ones become US Citizens, let me say Thank You personally and welcome you with open arms.

God Bless and God Speed on your lives together.

    Forever,

    Wendy,

You can apply for a social security card before you get married??? Would love to know the details of that.

Mark's interview is in 2 weeks from tomorrow in London. He is getting really nervous! Hope all goes well and we too will get approved. I am planning to fly over and get him on Jan 13 and we are flying back here on Jan 19th. This leg of the journey is almost over!!

Yep - see this link.. http://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/whatyou_need.htm

  2. My very best wishes to you Aya and John, yall deserve all the happiness in the world.. well Kim.. I think I can i think i can lol. I read you only need the I-94 and the approved K-1 to apply for the SSC and that you didn't have to be married to get it.. but good point.. I will make sure the ducks are in a row before I venture down that avenue.. funny I'd lost sight of that little detail.. get married firsts lol funny details details :)

Wendy, Is your sister still as sick as you thought or has she begun to improve? I hope things go well and the pancreatic cancer that you moved the interview up for will not take her before she gets to see you walk down the aisle. I also hope the doctors are helping manage her pain.. I had a hard time seeing my father die of that disease. The pain is really something else. :( I'm sending lots of love!

Hi Jewel, unfortunately her condition is stable at best. Her chemo is taking it's toll and the survival rate for her type of cancer is at 87% fatality rate. At this time we are just hoping she lives to watch the videography. We of course hope for miracles, but thank you for your prayers and concern. You guys are the best.. We are truly blessed. I told my sister about VJ and how supportive everyone is of her efforts to heal. Please keep the prayers coming!

  7. Woo hoo!!!!! wtg D&G.. man oh man!! we were on your shirt tails :D.. Talked to John at 5:30 this morning CST.. and his interview took 2.5 hours (9am to11:30 am UK). He said it went smoothly, he only forgot his original Birth Certificate and Police Certificate, but other than that it went great.. he will post in a bit for the UK interview thread. They told him to get a courier to deliver the originals (he's doing that today or tomorrow), then it will just take an extra day or two for the Visa to arrive.

Thanks Ginny for all your support and info and David for such a fabulous post! My best to all pending processes. Hugggs VJ!!!

They're blowing sunshine up your b-hind cause its not as easy as that. It takes a bit for them to get your visa together after you send in stuff. Sorry...just be cautious. Good luck to you if they do but lots of folks have to wait many weeks to month or so for visa after sending stuff in.

Thanks Allie.. concerned for sure that this will delay the visa (obviously). Thanks for the heads up and your candor.. but we are going to put a cover page with the docs and a copy of my plea to the consulate to hurry up the processes due to my sisters illness. Hopefully that will be sufficient to light the preverbial fire under someones (tush) :) Thanks for the support! By the way, John's review is posted on the UK review section..:bonk:
