There are things, like vitamins, and chocolate, that are hard to find, or are expensive in the R.P. Plus, anything with a label, just to say it came from the US, makes it a treasured item. For the 70 or 80 dollars it costs to send the box, you can make a lot of people smile back in the barrio.

I am curious what a "house registration document" is. Everything I research refers back to Thailand for some reason.

This thread would be much better with pictures, so let's see all those trophy wives, so we can give them the critical eye.

In the Philippines, you expect your children to support you in your old age out of a sense of obligation. In America, you expect the government to steal the money from your children and grandchildren for you.

How do you define "know"? I don't think I will ever completely "know" my wife. I find out new and interesting things about her all the time, and we have been married close to five years. Do you mean "know", as in the Biblical sense, as I don't think you even begin to understand someone until you are intimate. I knew there was someone on the internet that found me interesting, and sent me a few pictures. We had many conversations over the seven or eight months until we finally met. She called a few times, but the calls were hard to understand and confusing to me. However, when I got off the airplane in her country, I had no problem recognizing her, and everything about her seemed familiar.

Is annulment even an option? Unless the marriage was on its face invalid, say because of bigamy, or incapacity, I don't see how annulment applies here. Even in cases where the marriage was claimed invalid because of fraud, if the couple had a substantial relationship, that is to say lived as man and wife for a period of years, annulment would probably not be granted.

As a Balikbayan, even with an expired Filipino passport or other proof of former Filipino citizenship, she doesn't need a visa.

Nope. Only if you want to renew or amend a Filipino passport to reflect a name change. The other option is to get an affidavit of one and the same to account for the different names on the green card and Filipino passport.

I find this change welcome. Remove the addiction, and the addicts will leave. Then your mod staff will no longer have to enforce the quarantine. A self-help family immigration site should be about immigration alone, and not therapy for the socially inept.

Sometimes the problem is overt racism, sometimes it is overt "inclusion". These young minds need some space to develop, yet it seems, we can not allow them too much space, or they will get lost. When does "exploring" become "getting lost"?

I believe the same thing goes for Iraq and Afghanistan and even Israel. If the US is serious about encouraging democracies to be born and nurtured around the world, the US will have to sit on its hands once in a while. So many problems with the current situation in the Middle East are a direct result of Obama's persistent meddling in the democratic processes of our wards. Democracies are ugly. But like those teenagers you mention in your example, they need the space to make mistakes, fail, learn from those mistakes, and mature. Shoot, the US has been at this for over 200 years, and we still haven't got it right. The founding fathers were not perfect.
