Brit Abroad reacted to Hypnos in info on I-131 Travel Doc/Advance Parole while AOS
You are mistaken, and are confusing humanitarian parole with normal Advance Parole.

Brit Abroad reacted to KayDeeCee in Why is medical examination so expensive in London??
Local clinics set their own prices for an exam and vaccinations. Coming from the UK, you may find yourself with a bad case of 'sticker shock' at the prices for healthcare in the US.

Brit Abroad reacted to cdneh in Help! Getting married after the 90 days
How about this. If it were YOUR petition, would you take a chance on the sort of delay this causes? If you don't know the answer, and clearly this is often the case, stop posting.

Getting as much info as possible is fine, so long as it is correct info. The poster who is new and keeps posting all over VJ with misinformation is not someone you need to be listening to. The problem with people who have been here 5 minutes and know it all, is that one day, some one who doesn't know any darn better is going to follow poor adivse, and get into trouble.

You've already got the correct information from the vast majority of posters here. The first six posts are all full of good stuff.

Serial misinformation is damaging to the forum. Nothing personal, I wish for you to study up some more and contribute with correct information. Good luck to you.

You asked, so what have we got... 3/12?
Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, but a very new member, making mostly mistakes, it just makes the right information muddled and doesn't help anyone.

Brit Abroad reacted to Boiler in Help! Getting married after the 90 days
To be fair Harpa is not exactly in a majority of one on this subject.

This is totally BS.
Have you considered sitting back a little and reading here more, because you joined last week and you are answering every thread with wrong information.

Husband can pull I-864 at any time before the I-485 is adjudicated.

Nope, you are making things up. Please stop.

You do not understand the intricacies of this ruling, and that page is an ad, leaving out convenient things, so you buy that lawyer's services.

Brit Abroad reacted to Harpa Timsah in Dealing with negative people
I can't speak to the Bavarians, but I would not be friends with people who want to talk about conspiracy theories all day. There is an undercurrent of this in the US, but it is not common. It might be more common in Arizona; the politics there are pretty messed up lately, imo. If you want to talk about the US in a more positive light, there are plenty on here, me included, with ideas and advice. Feel free to PM.

Brit Abroad reacted to Tuscadero in Dealing with negative people
People fear what they do not know. That's true in Bavaria, or in Arizona, maybe especially in Arizona! My fiancé is from the UK, and there are a few people in my life who think it's ok to make jokes, "if he was from Mexico you wouldn't have to go through all this, he could just walk over the border like the rest of them." Hey, guess what? My engagement is not an opportunity for you to proudly display your ignorance!
Perhaps now would be a good time for you to learn a little "Southern grace," U.S. style. The next time someone says something hurtful or stupid, you just smile as sweetly as you know how, and say, "well, bless your heart," (or the German equivalent.) In Savannah, GA, where I went to school, that's Southern for "go $* yourself," and when done properly, it can make you feel a whole lot better. Best of luck!

Brit Abroad reacted to apple21 in Typo Error???
I think USCIS made an error in classifying the "type of service requested" but the denial was for expedited processing, which your husband requested.

Brit Abroad reacted to 2ndMessiah in Does pregnancy change or expedite anything?
OK, I am going to be pedantic here. She is NOT your girlfriend she is your fiancee now.
It may seem to be a semantic argument but when it comes to dealing USCIS and government bodies you need to be precise.
Next, as most Americans are blind to the fact there are two separate countries on the Island of Ireland, can you be more specific as to where your fiancee is.
If she is from Northern Ireland, she has access to free health (which is still quite good in NI) for herself and her unborn child. If the child is born in Northern Ireland all she has to do if file a CRBA at the American consulate in Belfast. A painless and fairly swift process.
This confers US citizenship on the child and a US passport can be obtained at the same time. This is what I did for my two children.
The Republic of Ireland's Healthcare system is like the US. Insurance a must I understand. I am sure someone here on VJ can fill you in on the details. But again if born there a CRBA can also be filed at the American embassy in Dublin.
To answer your question, being pregnant is not a reason to expedite.

Brit Abroad reacted to Illiria in i am green gard holder HELP PLZ ?????? (split and merged)
And why does that matter? You say it yourself you visit the US
Green card is not for visiting the US but for living in the US. If you only wished to visit you should have applied for a visitors visa.

Brit Abroad reacted to Merrytooth in Totally lost
Using a Tourist visa to enter US with the intention to adjust status and stay is FRAUD.

Brit Abroad reacted to KayDeeCee in Need some serious advice.
There is no requirement to be in love.
You both must have the intent to marry within 90 days of her entry with the K-1 visa. You need to be willing and wanting to marry and make your marriage and family unit work. If that is the case, then go ahead and apply. If you think bringing her here to marry her would be the biggest mistake of your life, then don't do it. Get your child a US passport and have frequent visits. See if the mother is willing and able to move to a country that is closer so you could visit easier. Only you two can decide what is best for your lives and that of your child. Think it through well before deciding.

She doesn't have her passport. That's the biggest problem, but not the only one.
Joeannie, I suggest you contact the Phillipines consulate for assistance. They should be able to reissue you a passport or emergency travel document. You are unlikely to be able to stay in the US, but they may be able to assist you getting home, or point you in the direction of someone who can.

You may want to consider contacting: http://casademaryland.org/ - I believe they offer some support for immigrant workers who have had their rights violated by employers.
