    Hi!
I applied for my parents I-130 about 2 years ago and had to submit form I-824 last year. I dont have any updates since then and dont know how much longer we need to wait.

I’m graduating in May 2025 and my parents want to attend my graduation ceremony. Would it be ok if they apply for B1/B2 / tourist visa while their green card process is happening simultaneously? I’m asking now because visa appointments in Pakistan take up to 1 - 1.5 year. Should we skip tourist visa all together and not complicate processes? Any guidance would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

What strong ties to they have to return? A pending immigration intent shows they want to settle here. Worth a try but wouldn't count on it

My husband is from Canada and moved to Ohio. He has his work permit which expires in June 2025. Out of curiosity, how do you renew it? So that way he can continue to live in the states with me. Thank you.

To my understanding the employment authorization is not renewed, you have to apply and be approved for adjustment of status. Then once approved you get permanent resident card and that overrides the eac card

I have an appointment for my daughter's passport for next Friday.  My husband is going to come this weekend and we are going to do the Notarized form DS-3053, where he gives permission for her to get the passport.  I was just wondering if they make a big deal about it.  I don't know how long this job will last and I do not want to wait to get it until he is back, it may be a couple of months.

It shouldn't be a problem. As long as the form is properly completed. I believe the form expires after 90 days from signing. I did this renewing my kids passport with no issues

    Hi everyone,

I am a F1 visa holder in the US. My girlfriend is a US citizen. We plan to marry and apply for green card for me.

I know to one of the documents we need to submit to USCIS is her passport to prove she is US citizen. But her passport expired in Aug 2023. I am curious if it's okay to submit the expired passport. If it's not okay, we need to renew her passport immediately.

    Thanks so much!

Also are you in the US now? You would have to submit 485 as well but you can't adjust status if that was the intention all along

Thank you for your response. She was born in the US. Does her birth certificate work?

You can submit a certificate of naturalization. Otherwise renew the passport

Recently I entered the states after recieving F3 visa ( me, spouse and son)

we all left USA as we still have obligations outside USA.

we all recieved our social security number

My son and my wife received their green card ( me not yet)

    my question ?
how long could we stay outside USA?
Our immigrant visa  stamped  (endorses) when we entered USA with the notation that it is acting as I551

Officially not longer than a year but try to keep it under 6 months. Otherwise you have to file for reentry permit. Also prolonged absence delays your ability to file for citizenship

My girlfriend (Brazilian) has renewed her visa and on her DS-160 form, her point of contact is a hotel in Florida that she plans to travel to with her family. We are planning for her to visit me but she didn’t list me as a point of contact on her application because her family was also renewing their visas and everyone told them to put down the same travel plans and points of contact so that their visas wouldn’t be denied by having different information on their visa forms. She is planning on visiting me in the US before she travels to the US with her family. We are worried that she would be denied at immigration due to not listing me as a point of contact on her visa application. Should she tell the CBP officer the truth that she is planning on staying with me when she comes to visit and could this be considered as misinterpretation by the CBP? She is only staying for twenty days in June but we are worried she will be denied entry and have her tourist visa cancelled for not mentioning me in the application.

Always tell the truth. What strong ties does she have to Brazil?

Hi. I live in the UK and my partner lives in the US. So far I have visited him 3 times as follows:

    Feb 2023 - 1 month stay

    Nov 2023 - 2 week stay

    Feb 2024 - 2 week stay

On my last visit, the officer I spoke to mentioned to start bringing proof of my ties back home as visiting frequently can look suspicious. I am planning on visiting again for 1 week in May and was wondering if that would be enough time between visits or if I should postpone the visit. I last left on 24th Feb and would be re-entering on the 22nd May. I don't want to risk losing the privilege of the ESTA so not sure if I should leave more time between the visit. This would be the last time I see my partner until the end of the year.

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe your partner can visit you? Sounds like a lot of frequent visits

Yes we have submitted all the certified documents including the dismissal, deferred adjudication,  and his official divorce decree. We are really worried because of this. Thanks for answering. This helps us breathe.

I think you're good then just make sure the beneficiary knows about it. It will probably come up in the interview stage

Question: My fiancee has a misdemeanor for saying threatening words to his ex wife when they had a huge fight but was dismissed by the judge after a year of probation (in short he wasn’t convicted). Will our k1 application gets denied because of that? I mean, when we are upset we say things we don’t really mean.

Not denied but all charges must be disclosed with accompanied paperwork from the court

Hi, Filipino fiancé here. Our embassy location is at Manila.

My American fiancé received an email this February 27 stating the NVC is forwarding the petition to the US Embassy in Manila. We are under the impression this isn’t the “welcome letter” we are supposed to receive that gives us the green light on filling out DS-160.

We haven’t received any other letters or emails as of now, but I checked our case status on CEAC and it says “case ready.”

Is it advisable to wait for the welcome letter before submitting DS-160? Or is our case status being ready already good enough for us to submit the DS-160?

If you have case number start filling out. No need to wait for a welcome email or letter that will never come

    Hey,

i collected some questions regarding the K1 process as information differs in some ways across the internet.

     Proof of relationship:

Is it appropriate to include booking conf., boarding passes, 1-3 photos and maybe screenshot of a text message for each occasion where my fiancée visited me in Germany ?

She visited 4 times in the past 2 years and we also had two vacations. So that would already be quite a lot documentation I feel like, maybe too much?

    Title Page proof of evidence:

In the K1 Guide it says to include a single page that has a brief description of the last meeting (same text as in Form I129f) and a list with all the evidence provided. On the  website of a law firm it says to include a declaration letter that goes more into a detailed description of the relationship, the sample there is about 1 page long.

Does someone have an opinion on that ?

    Documents to include

    - I-95 travel record: Is just this one page that you can download, or is there more to it ?

    - My last attempt to enter the U.S. was refused (ESTA), hence my I-95 says “UNKNOWN” for “Stay permitted until”. Should I put this in the box on the I129f?

-Should I include my passport (beneficiary)? So far we included the front page and my US visa page with the stamps

-Should I include sth like a transcript from the school I went to as an exchange student in the US?

If someone takes the time to reply to this, I would be really happy :))

    thank you!

    Michael

Only include what is asked on the 129f form. Beneficiary passport not required. It only asks for last visit to USA and if applicable the details of entry if currently in USA. Text messages are weak evidence

For taxies install the Grab app on your phone.  https://www.grab.com/ph/ . It's like Uber and makes things cashless and just soooo much easier.  Manila is a big city and there is certainly crime and scams.  But if you just use common sense and pay attention it's probably not much more sketchy than some US cities these days.

I was there in mid January and I didn't feel uncomfortable with the airport. I was in t3. Like anywhere else just keep your wits about you and you should not have any trouble.

Hello!  My romantic connection in Australia and I are trying to discern when to start this whole long fiancé visa process.  The goal is for us to get married and live together in June 2025.  We cannot get married prior to that due to my home situation with my kids. I am having difficulty discerning the timelines.  I've "heard" that the approval process for the finance visa takes 9 months - 1 year.  He would then have 6 months to move here and then 90 days for us to get married.  But, when I look at some of the timelines for Australia and USA, they look like the process is taking several years!  Is this true?  What is your recommendation for when to start this process given our desired timeline to get married?  Thank you in advance!

A k1 visa may be better with kids involved, under 21 and unmarried. They can be included in the I-129F. The I 130 every kid has to be filed separately
