  1. Most recent year tax transcript can be uploaded to nvc W-2/1099 and/or proof of US assets only if needed to meet the required income. Scanned copy of I-864 signed by petitioner with ink pen can be uploaded to nvc. You may carry original copy to interview just in case.
  2. Since you submitted the JS to the consulate. Consulate might be verifying your JS employment if applicable. These types of checks particularly for JS are done at NVC stage before DQ. I know about one case where employment verification was done for JS before the applicant was DQ.
  3. One of my parents was given 221(g) during the interview to submit online DS-5535 form and resume. Passport was returned at the interview. We submitted documents on October 6. Since then the status updated 7 times. What does it mean? I am assuming it will stop updating at some point. Is this correct assumption?
  4. Congrats! Did MTL ask you for DS-5535 form only? I assume you did not file any WOM based on your timelines in Excel sheet? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jV7rzX2eCRVoEDRhOtN9a6hDoHRLNEf1P3ZGZbQ0_Dc/edit#gid=0
  5. Time of sending IL varies from month to month. In July they sent IL on July 11. Usually it is between 10th-20th of the month. May be the 2nd MTL update in Sept is for December IL. May be few interviews in December.
  6. IL letters are usually sent in a batch early morning. I received mine on Aug 16, 3:30 am eastern time
  7. I am not 100% sure. Some agencies may need fingerprints to search your fingerprints against criminal databases (AFIS) during extreme vetting. Fingerprints are taken when you appear for an interview. Other types of AP is triggered by CO determined at interview time and may be resolved by consulate without involving any external agency.
  8. One more addition 1. Age of petitioner >= 21 years before filing I-130 2. Petitioner is not required to file US taxes if income does not meet IRS return filing criteria. In that case explanation would be enough at nvc stage. https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/do-i-need-to-file-a-tax-return You may attach print of page that says that petitioner is not required to file US taxes after answering all questions in wizard although it is not required just explanation will be enough at nvc stage.
  9. I-130 will be approved for parents without any problem. You will have to prove petitioner domicile during or before the interview. If the petitioner is not living in the United states at the moment, you have to submit the letter of intent signed by petitioner plus concrete evidence that petitioner will be moving permanently to US with intending immigrants. Concrete steps include, Opening an bank account in US, Transferring funds to it before your visa interview, register for voter list (He has to visit US to apply for state ID or driver's license) and register for school to pursue further education or attempt to find a job while being in your country of stay). Permanent address or place to stay in US after arrival is another factor considered by CO. I have once success story where the petitioner moved to his parent country of origin at the age of 3 years. Filed I-130 from foreign country and got approved in 8 months. He went to US before submitting application to NVC to open a bank account and to apply for state ID/voter registration and return to his parent home country after that. Their parent were approved at nvc stage(Letter of intent, bank account) and granted visa based on letter of intent, college registration, US bank account with fund transfer. You will need to submit I-864, Tax transcript, W-2/1099 form from Joint Sponsor (JS) in addition to petitioner. Having said that, it will be discretion of consular officer to accept the Proof or Domicile or not. Please look at following https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/i-864-affidavit-faqs.html The sponsor intends in good faith to establish his or her domicile in the United States no later than the date of the intending immigrant’s admission to the United States.
  10. Thanks for the reply. My mom got GC stamp on her passport but dad returned home with passport with no visa because he was given DS-5535 with additional info to fill out. Clearance may take up to several months. My mom visa will expired in March 2024 and she does not want to move to US without dad she is working in Canada and want to make sure dad will get visa. She can wail until her visa expire to see if dad is out of AP but it is remote possibility given the history of Montreal. Any advice how to with deal with this situation like one person is approved and other person is waiting?
  11. My parents were appeared for IR5 visa interview earlier this month at Montreal Consulate. The mom visa was approved and she received the passport with immigrant visa stamp after 2 days but my dad (Canadian citizen) was given 221g ( passport was returned) with the request to submit DS-5535 and resume that he did. He had to go through Administrative processing few years back when he applied for B1/B2 visa on the passport of his country of origin but was cleared after 30 days. 1. Would this make AP faster as he was cleared few years go? Now a days AP takes more than 6 months in Montreal (WOM is the way out if you are stuck for more than 9 months). By that time my mom visa will be expired. She has a job in Canada and she does not want to leave job and immigrate to U.S without dad. 2. What are the options for her so that she can keep her visa/immigration status , living in Canada while waiting for dad AP to complete? Any advice?
  12. Is it possible to enter U.S. for GC activation and then return to Canada same da. I have few questions: 1. Would it create any problems at the border if it enter the US without GC next time once on I-551 stamp. 2. Do i have to go to Social Security office to apply for SSN it or it can done at border. 3. Can i open US bank account with just GC stamp or i need utility bills under my name on US address. Can I use Canadian address after activation of GC for bank account temporarily or i have to provide US address. Are there any other documents needed for opening bank account?
  13. @Fayisa or anyone else - Did we send resume as an pdf attachment in reply email for DS-5535 (montreal-iv-dv@state.gov)? My father submitted resume and got following response Thank you for your inquiry to the Immigrant Visa Unit at U.S. Consulate General Montreal.....
  14. @mapi Thanks for the advice. The information i described was based on the group members experiences that appeared for an interview in Montreal consulate personally recently or what i interpreted from I-864 and I-864A instructions by reading them carefully and together. I was looking for same info in my case also. Now my applicants were already appeared for an interview few days ago, I can confirm that CO did not asked for joint-sponsor spouse I-864A or W-2 nor we submitted at NVC stage or applicant carried the hard copies to interview. They are only asked for JS latest tax transcripts. W-2 of JS was already in their system.
  15. This is with regards to completing DS-5535 form online. If the same information is already provided in DS-260 application, you do not need to repeat the same information in the form as per instructions. Does anyone know what should we write in the mandatory fields(Information already provided in the DS-260 form) as if you leave it empty it won't allow you to go to next step?
  16. Hi everyone My parents appeared for IR5 interview at MTL together. My mom has been issued a visa but CO returned the passport of my dad with 221(g) with "Additional Processing is required. We will contact you when this complete" CO told him that he will receive an email in the couple of days with further instructions. Note: When my dad applied was B1/B2 visa 5 years back on his country of origin passport, His visa was delayed (for first time) due to AP and was given 1 year visa instead of 5 years B1/B2 visa(2005 and 2011). He has extensive travel history because of nature of work. Does anyone know what to expect in the email and what sort of information they will be looking for?
  17. I would not add that income in I-864 if it is not used. You will find the answer at the top of page 6 (I-864 form) which is for "USCIS use only". If you add joint sponsor spouse income in I-864, NVC will need all tax documents from joint-sponsor spouse as this income will be used for calculation even though not needed
