From what I have read on the USCIS website, once they take your biometrics, you can request to receive it in the US Embassy, consulate or DHS of the country you'll be visiting. You still have to file it here in the US and wait for the biometrics appointment. Not sure about the timeline - some say it takes 6-8 weeks to get an appointment.

This would apply if you were married.

The CR-1 (marriage visa, petitioned via the I-130) is superior to the K-1 (fiancé visa, petitioned via the I-129F).

See the comparison, as compiled by our fine member Crazy Cat:
    K-1
        More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also
In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
    CR-1
        Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status (I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

It's actually an I-551 stamp but yes, valid for 1 year.

When I renewed mine while waiting for GC, they stamped it on an I-94 card and mailed it to me.

If you plan on taking pictures and also want to feel like a million (U.S.) bucks, dress up.  You won't regret it.  This is a once-in-your-life experience.

It seems like you do not plan to file I-751 before you leave the U.S., hence the strange question.

With one exception, I have yet to see a case of an LPR — whose 2 year gc expired — successfully re-enter the U.S without a valid extension letter.  Miraculously the embassy issued a boarding foil.

Maybe you will be the first.

Understand that DoS and CBP have zero sympathy.

I just cannot imagine why Conditional
LPRs put themselves in this situation when with little effort they can file I-751 and get a 4 year extension.

I have some help and guidance to offer.

If you make posts that contain objectively incorrect information, you need to either take more care before posting or just accept the inevitable corrections you'll receive and move on.

Congratulations on your I-130 petition approval!

Immigration is a marathon, not a sprint, so it's best to be mentally prepared for a long wait. If your spouse's visa is granted earlier than expected, great!

Just because someone clarifies the difference between an approved petition VS an approved visa, or says that the next steps take a long time, doesn't mean they want to spite you. They are simply giving you estimates based on past experience.

If you disagree with their advice, you can review the timelines on this website,  past threads from other members from the same region, even official timelines from USCIS.gov and the local US embassy where your spouse will interview.

I didn't ask for your random input and arbitrary timeline, but thanks. What is with you all trying to rain on my happiness? Jealousy? It won't take over a year because my case is clean and I don't need the backhanded comments. Ya'll are a buzz kill

Are you referring to the Removal of Conditions (I751) process?  If so, if she arrives in the US (activating her green card) and the marriage is still less than 2 yrs old (i.e. she is a conditional resident/LPR), then you will file the I751 three years less 90 days after that date of entry.  If she enters the US activating her GC and the marriage is more than 2 yrs old, then she will be entitled to a 10 yr GC and no I751 will be necessary even if the visa was issued as a CR1.

They do not, IMO. Few computers have CD drives.

    IMO, the process is,

    * set up USCIS.gov account
    * make FOIA requests from that account
    * USCIS posts the records as PDFs to the FOIA request online.
