the purpose of police is to serve and protect the citizens. how can we keep their authority in check if we can't record evidence against improper enforcement of the law? or proper enforcement of the law? how, in this day and age, do we police not only the citizens, but the cellphones in their pockets? it's unreasonable and irresponsible for any court to suggest that recording a public servant in the line of duty is a criminal act.

This is the delusion of people who cannot see the tens of millions of illegal immigrants that are here just since the last amnesty act in 1986. The government does not have their names, their addresses, or their criminal backgrounds. That's something delusional people convince themselves of in spite of the facts.
It is the also the delusion of people who cannot see that 9/11 was perpetrated by people who not only came over on "legal" visas, but the plot was run by the uncle (khalid Mohammed) of the fist world trade center bomber (Ramzi Youseff) and their plot (then called Bojinka) was taken off their computer hard drive when their apartment in the Philippines caught fire from the explosives they were preparing.
Your government is that stupid, hypocritical, and deceitful enough to lie about it and say they had no idea of any hijacking plot. The Philippines National Police gave them that hard drive, gave them Ramzi Youseff, and let them know Khalid Monammed had escaped. Straight to Osama Bin Laden, who financed the completion of the plot.
As a 28 year pilot I can tell you how ludicrous the airport security is - a huge show for the public and major inconvenience/expense to travelers but just like immigration some men with box cuttrers can kill thousands because of the incompetence and ineffectiveness of it all.

We cannot change ANYTHING in this country until we fix the foundation and the foundation is the revenue (TAX) system. The current system has been sabotaged with decades of social engineering. We ned a solid, reliable revenue system that cannot be tampered with, manipulated for the benefit of one group or another and provides a source of revenue which can be counted on...in other words our country needs a steady, reliable "job" on which to plan expenses. Anything else is like replacing the curtains while the foundation crumbles underneath. ONLY GAry Johnson offers any possibility of that. Obama and Romeny both offer more manipulation, neither of their plans have the possibility of working. Without steady, reliable income, nothing else can be done

The truth is; which people don't like to admit, is that if the votes for third-party candidates hurt a primary candidate then the problem isn't the third-party vote at all. It's the weakness of the primary candidates.

Burlinton has a lot of refugees. They come from all over but are made up of three primary groups.
Bosnians, Somalians and Citizens of non-slavic Former Soviet Republics, such as Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc. Alla makes a pretty good part time job of interpretting for the last group until they learn English.
The Bosnians and FSU citizens quickly adapt, they learn the language, dress in western manner and often own businesses, they work in the community all over, just like any other nationality. The students Alla had in her ESL classes quickly move along to the next levels if they are Bosnians or FSU citizens. They are soon doing well and she loses them as students and interpretation clients...which IS the idea. She feels well when they say "Thank you, but I think I can try going to the doctor myself"
Somalians on the other hand, rarely attend the classes, when they do they stare out the wondoews, do not participate and soon leave. They dress in traditional clothes which look like they took all their drapes or bedsheets and covered themselves with them. They do not work in the community, have no businesses that I am aware of. They all live in some areas which have been set aside for refugees, places formerly occupied by Bosnians, Georgians, Armenians that have moved on and have their own places.
The Mayor in Maine is exactly correct. If they want to succeed in this country, yes they need to assimilate to the culture of this country. To usggest otherwise is to simply keep them dependent on others for handouts. There is nothing wrong with keeping tradition...heck, we do not wear shoes in the house and Alla eats that stinky Russian fish, and there is always a pot of borscht in the refrigerator, vereneki in the freezer, prenicki for cookies...but they have all l=earned the language, drive cars, work in the community and basically adapt to the life here and are independent. Anyone sayign "we" need to adapt to "them" is simply saying they want to keep these people isolated, controlled and dependent so that they stay that way.

I totally agree with him. Get rid of the police and let Americans take care of themselves. We waste way too much money on our legal system already and the police are the starting point of that waste. Get rid of cops.
I should add - an elected sheriff and deputies would still be fine. Just no police force.

We, most of us, went through the process because we couldn't stand being apart. I thought I should apologize here, since I've been so confused by your previous post.
