Queen shakes hands with Martin McGuiness former ? army chief of the IRA and killer (personally) of British troops

That's like the US President shaking hands with Ho Ch Minh

or Netanyahu shaking hands with Martin Bormann

Disgusting - an insult to the memory of those young boys who were murdered with weapons from Gadaffi

... let alone the Queens Uncle who was incinerated on his boat by the IRA in Ireland

String him up - and others of his following

Was there a reason for their encounter?

Queen's visit to Northern Ireland

It's like Obama going to Bin Laden's wedding anniversary

He and his friends blew her beloved uncle to cat meat

If this is for her Jubilee tour, could she have avoided it?

I am sure she could but she is a pawn in the hands of the politicians who, like in the US, work for the industrialists

The MONEY cost of new hostilities is such that they will forgive any killer in order to avoid costly (money) new conflict

The IRA used to walk into restaurants and blow them up to cost the government compensation. It was an economic war as much as it was a shooting war

I used to spend time in Northern Ireland every month for years. We were always having our favorite pubs/restaurants/hotels blown up

The Brits were having their 18 year old soldier kids murdered - lately with American Barrett 50 cal sniper rifles sent by those grisly sympathizers in Boston

The whole thing was horrible murder and now he shakes Queeny's hand ?

I am appalled so I can't imagine how the victim's families in NI and Britain feel about it

I'm sure I'll hear how they felt about the next time I am over.

As an outsider looking in, they are never going to get reconciliation if the boys urge the public to behave but don't shake on some things themselves. Therefore McGuinness is just as much a pawn as E.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Northern Ireland is just another example of failure in regards to multiculturalism. They stocked the northern part of Ireland full of protestant Scots and we saw the result of how that worked out.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I have to say this is one of the few times I've felt sorry for the queen. You can just see by the look on her face that she'd rather be walking across hot coals to sleep on a bed of nails. Eighty odd years of etiquette practice can't pull off that smile convincingly. She probably threw the gloves away as soon as she was out of sight.

Unfortunately if we go by history, it will all be meaningless in short order. A peace agreement with the IRA isn't worth the toilet paper it's printed on.

I guess I am just not big enough to forgive them.

After all, as WW2 was all but over, the Brits burned 100,000 civilians to death in one night in Dresden when they didn't have to, and the Germans were friendly with Britain within a year or so - now that's being big

I guess I will have to practice this reconciliation stuff - but the victims mother's ? that will be hard

Someone explain why the Northeast part of that island is in green, unlike the rest of that island.

For the same reason that the US is not part of Canada - the USAians don't want to be.

Iv'e read enough of your post on here to know that you have a better take on history than that. Do you think a majority of the people in northern Ireland woke up one day and said to themselves; "Lets convert to Protestantism and change our loyalty from Ireland to Britain" ?

They are about as Irish as someone living in Glasgow.

Because when Ireland became independant, Northern Ireland decided not to join them.

That's your answer? Why are you even taking the time to post on this thread?
