  1. This isn't uncommon at all and is nothing to be concerned about. My husband and I both applied for naturalization on the same day in October 2022. I had my interview and oath ceremony in January 2023. He waited until April 2023 for his interview and oath ceremony. I ended up chatting to the person in front of me in the line for my appointment and they also had the same experience, filed at the same time as their spouse but only he was called for interview and his wife was still waiting.
  2. In case anybody is interested my naturalization certificate arrived in the mailbox today, about 3 weeks after my passport arrived. They even sent it back in a large envelope so it's not been folded!
  3. You're being ridiculous. My husband and I applied for citizenship within 15 minutes of each other, I had my interview in January and became a citizen the same day, he has only just got his interview for mid April - almost 3 months behind me. It is what it is, complaining won't get you anywhere!
  4. I'm not panicking, I was just curious how long other people who have applied recently have been waiting!
  5. No sign of my naturalization certificate yet - how long is it taking for other people to get theirs back?
  6. Strange, any more progress today? My passport book arrived today (still waiting for the card and citizenship certificate to arrive but I'm sure they'll turn up in a week or so) 1/31 Applied at USPS 2/3 Application received according to the status website 2/6 Check cashed 2/7 Shows as in process on the status website 2/14 Shows as Approved on the website 2/15 Shipped 2/16 Arrived via USPS
  7. 1/31 Applied at USPS 2/3 Application received according to the status website 2/6 Check cashed 2/7 Shows as in process on the status website 2/14 Shows as Approved on the website
  8. I also applied for a passport last week (Expedited, 1-2 day delivery) 1/31 Applied at USPS 2/3 Application received according to the status website 2/6 Check cashed 2/7 Shows as in process on the status website Locator 53 like @Catseal so will be very interesting to see how similar our timelines are.
  9. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough... It looks like you've been a permanent resident since 2013 if your signature is correct. If this is the case then (paraphrasing a bit) you should choose the "I've been a lawful permanent resident for 5 years" option rather than the "I've been a lawful permanent resident for 3 years and married to a US citizen" option for your eligibility - if you choose the 3 year option you'll have to provide documentation to prove your marriage is genuine which you could avoid entirely if you go the 5 year route.
  10. Don't file under the 3 year rule if you're eligible under the 5 year rule - it means you'll have to provide a load more paperwork that's not necessary!
  11. My interview letter appeared online today - interview date is the end of January!
  12. It's pretty much the only option unless the OP flies to Canada or Mexico and enters the USA by land. You're definitely not going to get a standard passport in time for a return flight in a week though! An emergency passport from the US Embassy might be an option I guess...
  13. The marriage certificate isn't the issue, it's the lack of US passport that's going to cause you a problem for your return. The airline won't allow you to board a flight to the USA without an approved ESTA (you can't get one as a US citizen) unless you have a visa, green card or US/Canadian passport. They won't accept a naturalization certificate - check the carrier information guide here https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2019-Mar/2019 Carrier Information Guide - ENGLISH.pdf If you make it to the border they'll have to allow you in - it's getting to that point that'll be the issue.
  14. I filed as soon as I was eligible because I want to make sure I can keep my ability to live in the USA regardless of any future moves. I have no intention of leaving but most of my family are in the UK and who knows what the future holds - at least I won't have to worry about losing my status. I also want to be able to vote. Having to file taxes for the rest of my life isn't really a concern - there is an expatriation tax that'd apply if I gave up my green card anyway and I'm not likely to move to a country with lower tax rates than the USA.
  15. The airline won't allow you to board with a naturalization certificate so this won't work. They'll expect to see an approved ESTA, visa or green card in combination with a foreign passport - none of which a US citizen can have. CBP have to allow you to enter the country if you're on US soil but this is moot if you can't get to the border in the first place.
