JamieCO1 got a reaction from SaraClaire11 in Reaching out to congressman
We reached out to our Senator,  his office has been very nice, but no action. We are a 5/18/21 case waiting for NOA2. We've filed inquiries, went past the 30  days waiting for a response,  called and asked our sen to call again. We were told our case is being adjudicated (since July), but clearly it hasnt been touched. It should be a simple case for review if and when they ever decitlde to look at it.  There are about 10 cases around our same date that haven't been worked. The lack of accountability at USCIS is mind boggling. I did just file a complaint with the Ombudsman, but their site makes it.clear thst.you shouldnt expect action. The folks here have been very kind and shared similiar horror stories. We just keep waiting. Hoping you and your f have better luck!

At this point I don't "expect" anything, just trying all available options to get the process moving.

Hi, this is you from the future (a year from now) coming to tell us you wish you'd ditched the K1 and listen to @Crazy Cat. By now, you have realized that you have to file for AOS and therefore, your fiance cannot travel abroad or work until they have an EAD card. You have realized that a CR1 would have been a much better choice, and within the same time frame.
    You're welcome.
Now go and read the post with advantages and disadvantages 100 times.

She can stay if she chooses but she will be here illegally. She doesn’t have any avenues for legal residency .

If she entered with use of the K-1 visa, she can leave at any time, but she wouldn't be able to lawfully return unless the couple started all over by filing the I-130 petition and was approved for the CR-1 or IR-1 visa.

My spouse and I also had a long wait, our K1 was filed Dec 2019, and only approved September 2021 (almost 2 years), the USCIS were missing a whole bunch of December applicants and went straight onto January/February/March. Ours was also a straightforward case.

Unfortunately sometimes the USCIS does not process in order, and as I know, it’s very frustrating! We also filed a couple enquiries and were told we would hear back to answer our question within 60 days. I don’t think there’s anything particular holding the K1’s up, more that some cases just get missed and not handled until months after. I wish every case would get handled in order but that isn’t always the way!

BTW our second enquiry seemed to get our petition moving but still had to wait a couple of months from that.

I hope your enquiry speeds it up and you hear some good news shortly though!

hi,  I have a NOA1 of June 14 2021, last month I spoke to a T2 officer (this was before our case inquiry date) and I asked them multiple times can you just tell us where our application is, is it in a pile, is it on someone's desk, just tell us if it is in line to be processed because I am scared they have lost our application, the officer did not help at all, he kept saying we are just a call center and not the California processing center and they have no way to check where our case is.

Its been a while now and like 70% of June filers have been processed and our is still not processed.

My inquiry date is coming in Sep 10, can I call again now and try what you said or should I wait until inquiry date

JamieCO1 reacted to TBoneTX in Mrs. T-B. & the Citizenship Test
    Background:
We mailed Mrs. T-B.'s N-400 (citizenship) to USCIS last week. I printed the 100 interview questions that USCIS can ask, wrote the answers, and gave them to Mrs. T-B. to study. She stated that she had "looked" at them "a little" during the last couple of days, between Facebook activity and chasing after young Mini-Bone.
As I tucked her into bed tonight (she has resigned herself to my late-night VJ-ing), the conversation went as follows:
Mrs. T-B.: I was looking on-line for "how to remodel your kitchen without money."
T-B.: Shouldn't you have been looking for "how to pass my citizenship test without studying?"
Mrs. T-B. [brightly]: I looked at the answers! Ask me some of the questions!
T-B.: OK... uh, "Who was the Father of our Country?"
    Mrs. T-B.: Abraham Lincoln?'
    T-B.: No, man.
    Mrs. T-B.: Donald... Ronald Reagan?
T-B.: Good guy, but no, man.
    Mrs. T-B.: Barack 0bama?
    T-B.: [censored]
    [silence]
    T-B.: Here's a hint: Jorge...
Mrs. T-B.: Jorge Washington! George Washington! He or someone else is on the $5... the $1 bill, right?"
T-B. [invisibly rolling eyes]: Uh, si man.
Mrs. T-B. [undeterred]: Ask me another!
T-B.: OK... uh, "What is one thing that Benjamin Franklin is known for?"
Mrs. T-B.: Oh, I saw this one! He was hit by... hit by... [makes vertical zigzag motion with hand]
T-B. [helpfully]: That thing that happens before thunder?
Mrs. T-B.: Si -- that's it! But I can't remember the word in English.
    T-B.: Lightning?
Mrs. T-B.: That's it! He was hit by lightning!
T-B.: What was he doing when he was hit by the lightning?
Mrs. T-B. [blankly]: Uh, mmmm... sitting in his back yard, drinking beer.
T-B.: No, no no... uh, si, man; we'll talk about this one later.
Mrs. T-B.: I know how I can study! You put the answers on an MP3, and in three days, I'll know all of them.
    T-B.: All of them?
Mrs. T-B. [mischievously]: Si, and you can motivate me by paying me $10 for all of them that I miss.
T-B.: You're not going to sneak that one by me, no man.
Mrs. T-B. [flashing big brown puppy-dog eyes]: OK -- you can ask me more of the questions tomorrow, and sometimes husbands make financial arrangements so that wives can remodel their kitchen.
    T-B. [to self]:
  11. Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.

This is frustrating.  You can wait interminably on hold to speak with USCIS, insisting to the front-line screeners that you want escalation to the next tier.  When that occurs, start by saying how glad you are to be talking to someone whom you know can help you.  Ask precisely where your petition is within USCIS, and ask if it can be moved to the next place where it needs to go.  If it's security checks, they take as long as they take, period.  If it's not security checks, earnestly remind the officer that it's out of processing time and you'd really appreciate his/her help.  These second-tier officers can see what the front-line screeners cannot, so regard the former as allies.

Another option is to file an inquiry through your U.S. Congressman.  There's a release form to fill out, and the immigration liaison will then inquire to USCIS, with an answer generally expected in a couple of weeks.  It will be faster to reach your Congressman's office than to get through to USCIS, but the first method above (assuming that you're escalated) may be a bit more effective -- you're speaking with someone who can actually do something and not be put off.

Back in my day, I was among the very last of my monthly filing group to see action.  After I called USCIS and was escalated, I was told that the petition file was sitting on the processing floor at a transfer station.  I asked the officer if he could get it moved to the next place it had to go, and soon thereafter we got the approval.

Keep us closely apprised as to your results.
