  1. It's possible to self-translate, and it's widely accepted. I would personally use a neutral third party such as online translation service to translate docs though, to rule out any conflict of interest. I cannot recommend online service as it may be a violation of ToS. However, I used a service and paid about $30 to translate by Birth Certificate. It was totally worth it as they knew how to do it professionally and went over all stamps and other notes on it.
  2. Thank you for this detailed response and quoting sources.
  3. The quick processing was due to upcoming elections. Now that we're almost there, I can predict we'll go back to good old slow processing if we aren't there already.
  4. You could have filed taxes jointly getting bigger tax break on your spouse's income. And you would have had tax return to submit for N-400 for that year.
  5. Which history? I had some updates that came on Saturday, others during weekdays.
  6. Yes you can and you're required to file I-751.
  7. Yes two separate beneficiaries need their own set of forms filed, including I-864
  8. You're 99.999% safe then.
  9. If you met income requirements in 2022 and 2021 it won't hurt to add. RFEs delay cases by months. Good luck!
  10. Didn't it also mention 3 years further in instructions? With USCIS, it's always best to go beyond required minimal threshold of evidence.
  11. I hope it's tax return transcript? What about previous years, e.g 2022, 2021?
  12. I see, got confused over this. It's I-797
  13. Make sure to include copy of I-130 receipt in your I-485
  14. What about forms you filed? Is name correct on them?
  15. Need more details. What's the Resident Since date on GC? It's possible USCIS will never approve N-400. It's also possible they're kind enough they won't take GC away, unless somebody keeps applying for N-400. IMHO this case requires a seasoned lawyer who will evaluate the chances of keeping LPR status.
  16. I don't think people on the USCIS phone line know what they're talking about. I would have kept it unless instructed later by official mail. It may take as long as it took to receive the original card. Did you check the forms you filed? If name is incorrect on the form, this may also be an issue with GC itself, which would be a pain.
  17. Additional point: you don't have to pay for GE yourself directly. Many credit cards reimurse fees for GE. Those cards can come with other benefits such as lounge accees or trip delay protection. For example, United Explorer card has $95 annual fee, which includes Global Entry, 2 free United Lounge passes yearly and free first checked bags for you and your partner, no foreign transaction fees (so you can pay easily abroad with it).
  18. I only travel internationally 1-2 times a year. It's totally worth it to me, because the airports I use have a long lines when entering the US. I would have spend additional 30-60 minutes for immigration. Also, I travel domestically another 2 times a year. With TSA PreCheck included, it also reduces time for me. Additionally, the TSA folks at PreCheck and officers at GE seem subjectively nicer and kinder. At least it was my observation. With GE facial recognition kiosks, there were times I didn't have to interact with anybody at all when entering the US.
  19. Did USCIS tell you to send the card to them? Typically one should always keep original documents until USCIS asks for it. You may get GC instead of corrected EAD.
  20. You're worried for no reason. Did you keep the lease / mortgage in the US while travelling? Did you keep the job in the US while travelling?
  21. You potentially naturalize faster. The 90 days can be used by USCIS to study your case, run background checks and even schedule you for interview if you're lucky.
  22. Most likely, biometrics will be reused. But there is a chance you may be called for appointment. If you file online, many get biometrics reused almost instantly. This will give you more assurance to travel without worry.
  23. The holiday season and election is also coming, which can potentially slow things down. Good luck!
