@Ash23122 so sorry for the delay here. I think the biggest thing that helped us was to email the consulate telling them that we were having a problem and requesting them to re-send the results of the police vetting to the NVC (this was what someone else suggest we do). Once they confirmed they did this, the issue seemed to resolve itself. So sorry you're going through this too! I realize how frustrating it is!

    @mcs_2021

No problems and thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, I am also following the same process - I recently send an email to both Sydney and Auckland consulates explaining that NVC is asking us to submit the NZ police certificate. I received a generic response from the Sydney consulate advising me to contact NVC directly however, I haven't heard anything back yet from the Auckland consulate as yet (Hopefully, they will look into it and get back to us).

@Ash23122 sure! Are you now DQ at NVC? We have been DQ since the end of August 2021. I was really surprised that we didn’t hear back after covid lockdowns ended. Then a couple of weeks ago I read that the consulate was closed in Sydney and it all made sense. With no clear indication of how many days/weeks/months till reopening, we have no choice but to plead to Auckland to accept our case as we cannot live in limbo forever. I’m sure you feel the same way! And thankfully now we can travel to Auckland without MIQ, I can accept home quarantine for 10 days, seems a small price to pay for some certainty in life. Goodluck to you!

    @BahamaBaby

Thank you and no, not at the moment. NVC rejected the NZ police certificate document that I had uploaded. Our case has been forwarded to a supervisor for further review. Hopefully, we will get an update in the next couple of days/weeks. Fingers crossed!!

Not sure what's going on with the whole Sydney consulate situation. It is just shocking that they aren't scheduling any new visa interviews at all. Apparently, the rumour is that the new location where they are planning to relocate is not going to be ready until November this year. So who knows how long the wait is going to be. 🙄

Yes, thank god! we can now plan to travel to NZ after 27th Feb without MIQ. So once we get DQ'd by NVC, we will then request to transfer our case to Auckland and will take it from there. Good luck to you too and keep me posted! 🙂

I’d love to hear about Auckland interviews too! Similar story to @Ash23122, in Sydney and with an endless waiting for the consulate here to open up. We’ve just emailed the Auckland embassy to see if they would be ok to accept our case from NVC - will let you know how we get on!

@BahamaBaby awesome..  please let us know whenever you get a response from Auckland Consulate :)
It would really help me with my case as I'm also planning on transferring our case to Auckland as well.

    I'm sorry to hear that...

I guess you can call NVC and see if they can do something about this?

Is there a thread for "after DQ until interview notice"?

We were DQ'ed January 22nd but haven't heard about the interview date yet. The embassy for our country says that NVC will notify us directly when the date is set.

Thanks and I did call them on Friday last week. They are going to send my case to a supervisor for review and I’ll have to wait for another 6 weeks for an update, which is quite disappointing as it’s not even my fault. :(

Not sure if there’s any group for “after DQ until interview notice". Perhaps others can comment on that.

yeah, usually NVC schedules the visa interview. I’d suggest to create a seperate post on that so ppl from the same country can provide inputs.

Ugh, sorry to hear you’re dealing with this.  It is a really common problem for NZ applicants unfortunately. There are quite a few posts about this earlier in the thread if you scroll back through, but it sounds like you’ve done everything right. Firstly, I wouldn’t upload anything new because it will have today’s date on it and potentially reset your processing time. I’ve also read many posts on VJ where the wait for a supervisor was a matter of days rather than the six weeks mention so maybe wait a week and call back to check in. @mcs_2021 what did you do in the end to resolve this?

    22 hours ago, EKT said:

@Ash23122 check out pages 13-15 of this thread. It looks like they asked the consulate to resend the police certificate to NVC and then the original document containing the email confirmation (which was previously rejected) was accepted in CEAC. Hopefully this will work for you!

@EKT Yeah, they did mention not to make any changes on the portal otherwise, it could cause further delays. Good idea, I'll just wait for a couple of days and then will call them again for an update. I didn't even get any reference number so no idea if my case/application has been placed in the queue for a supervisor to review and I guess, there's no way to know or track it. I'll just have to wait it out and see what happens.

BTW, I have just sent another email to the US Consulate in Sydney & Auckland on this. Hopefully, they will sort this issue out or re-send my police certificate to the NVC

Thanks for your help on this! :)

  6. Our case was reviewed by NVC today (submission date - 30/10/2021) and all AOS and Civil documents were accepted except the NZ police certificate for which we had uploaded the email confirmation we received from NZ police. We even wrote a comment saying that "NZ police has sent the vetting results to the US consulate in Auckland who will then forward it to NVC". On top of that, under additional docs, we uploaded an explanation letter stating that NZ police do not share the outcome of police checks directly with the individual applicant and therefore, we are not able to provide this document to the NVC. In January, the U.S. consulate in Sydney even verified via email that they've received my vetting results from US Consulate Auckland and a copy has been sent to the NVC

After explaining all of this to NVC on the phone, I was advised that they're submitting my case for a supervisor to review and I'll be informed of the outcome in the next 6 weeks.

Can anyone please share their experience on how did you get NVC to accept the email confirmation from NZ police? The representative on the phone didn't have a clue on what document needed is required to be submitted for the NZ police check which is quite frustrating.

  7. Our case was reviewed today and NVC rejected one document that I submitted under the "NZ Police Certificate" section.
Apparently, the NZ police department sends the results of Police verification directly to the US consulate and NVC who then upload this information on NVC so not sure why they have rejected it. I guess, will have to call and verify with them on this. Sigh.

All other documents were accepted, even the ones that we uploaded on 16-Jan-2022 under additional documents.

    Hi all,

So happy to see most of you having completed interviews and ready to head on over to the USA!

My family and I are kiwis living in Australia waiting for an interview at Sydney consulate for an immigrant visa. We qualified under the employment based (EB) visa program.

We’ve been DQ since august 2021 and have not heard from the consulate. They were shut through Sydney lockdown which ended in October and then they relocated to a new office and are still not set up to take appointments. It’s also unclear when they might eventually open and what the backlog or timeline might look like, so we don’t know if it’s weeks/months/years.

I guess one option we have is to ask NVC to send our case to Auckland consulate and attend the interview there? At least we know it would happen within a couple of months (once NZ has free travel with Australia)

Just wanted peoples views on whether it was feasible doing it in NZ - sounds like there isn’t a backlog there and it might be a whole lot easier than waiting indefinitely in Sydney?

I am also a kiwi living in Australia and we selected the Sydney embassy for the visa interview when we lodged our IR1 application in March last year. We submitted our documents on the CEAC portal back in Oct last year and currently waiting for them to accept our documents.

Based on the other people posts here on VJ and Facebook, it appears the Sydney consulate is presently closed and has been scheduling immigrant visa appointments at the Melbourne consulate however, a lot of applicants who have already completed the NVC stage of their visa application process have still not heard any news on the visa appointments so it does seem like that they have got a bit of a backlog which could potentially cause delays.

Unfortunately, no one has any clue when they will re-open the Sydney consulate and start scheduling visa interviews to clear the backlog which is quite bizarre - and because of this, we are also considering to transfer our case to Auckland consulate once we are done with NVC stage. Hopefully, by end of Feb or March, the NZ govt. will allow kiwis to return back to NZ.  (Fingers crossed)

On transferring the visa application to Auckland - my understanding is that we will have to email the Auckland consulate first and get their confirmation if they are okay to accept our case or not and then based on that, book flights, accommodation, etc.

    Hola muchachos!

    Hi guys!

I hope that you are having an excellent day.

We received an email from NVC on January 26th letting us know that the birth and marriage certificate were invalid because they were hard to read. Due to this, we re-submitted the documents again on January 27th. Since we are doing this process by ourselves, we would like to ask if anyone has had the same issue and if so, how long did it take NVC to review the documents again.

    Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait another 3 months for NVC to review the new documents that you submitted.

Btw, what was your submission date?

  10. sorry to hear about your situation...

I'd suggest calling NVC and asking them the reason for rejecting this document. The most common reason they reject the i-864 form is when all the pages of that form are not included or it is not signed manually by pen, so I'd suggest double check that too, and I believe you can't skip the NVC stage unless you choose to expedite your case.

    Hello friends,

I submitted all the NVC documents as they had asked in Oct 2021. I got a message from NVC yesterday and they asked me to upload few additional documents. I added the additional documents in the additional documents section and clicked submit documents button. Do I need to complete any other step to inform NVC that I have uploaded the additional documents? Please let me know. Also will my case go back in line or will they process as soon as they get additional documents

what additional documents did NVC asked you to upload?

  12. @SP_and_TH Yes, your wife should be able to travel to the US on a tourist/visitor visa without any issues however, she will have to come back to Thailand for the visa interview and finish the IR1 visa application process (assuming that was the country selected when you submitted DS-260 on CEAC portal). Unfortunately, you won't be able to finish the visa application process in the US.

BTW, you mentioned in your post that your application is waiting on corrections at NVC - has NVC reviewed your case already and asked you to submit additional documents? do you mind sharing what documents they rejected or asked you to resubmit? Also, did NVC ask about your wife's visa status? since she's Canadian residing in Thailand (I am asking this bc we are in a similar situation).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi everyone,

I just got approved for our marriage petition. And moving to the NVC.

i am planning to get a police certificate in advance. I know I will need to choose option 33.

I am just posting, is there anything to look out for. And also can anyone explain to me the step by step process.

To my understanding, it’s fill the online application form. Print it. Take it to the local police station, complete the fingerprint. And email all the documents or is it mail all the documents, I’m not 100% sure.

For the Australian police check, its best to submit online application on AFP website and I think it cost around $42 or something. Once the checks are completed, they will email you the confirmation (within 2-4 working days) and it takes about 2-3 weeks to receive the AFP certificate in the mail. Also, make sure to select Code ‘33’ – for Immigration/Citizenship, as I selected the wrong code and ended up wasting a lot of time.
