@F3MTL how did you go with your interview? Did they asked you to submit or upload any additional documents post interview?
-
** CR1/IR1s who have HAD a interview **
Were you required to update your 1864 and reupload it to CEAC after the interview with your most recent tax return (2021) and police check??
The i864 I uploaded in Oct 2021 did not include the 2021 tax return, only 2018, 2019 & 2020 and police checks have expired as well.
Thank you!

Correct but for the spouse of a US Citizen the I-864 is not necessary. The assets are simply stated on the I-864 as separate, if they are, or just listed as owned by the petitioner, if they are joint. Most likely for Australia, not a big deal to have the assets in OZ.
Perfect - thank you so much 😊

Has anyone of you here applied for the immigrant visa (IR1/CR1) and got approved at the interview solely based on your assets/cash in a foreign bank account?
Would like to know whether the assets/cash must be held in the US bank account or if they can also be held in a foreign bank account.

Yes since Feb 9th. Am waiting for the transfer now.
It looks like they are currently processing inquiries received on 7-FEB-2022. Hopefully, you'll get an update by end of this week.

Hi all,
I requested a case transfer from Lagos embassy to London embassy, although my case is still at nvc. I submitted the requested via public inquiry form, I received an email today that the correspondence submitted is currently under review. I sincerely want to know what it means and how long it takes to get it transferred. Ir1, DQed Jan 20th 2021.
thank you
Hi, when did you actually raise this request? I’m also thinking of transferring my case.

Just a quick update for those inquiring about City Med appointments. Wife got an email response from them a day after sending her inquiry form letting her know that she could call them now they had her information to schedule an appointment. She called the next morning and they could have fit her in as soon as the next day, but she needed to arrange flights and time off work so she booked for the following week which wasn't an issue at all. Seems like they aren't too backed up right now.
Thanks for the update and good luck!

It's all done online now and it only took 2 days for CityMed to upload the medical report to eMed when my husband had his interview in January. I think it's then assigned to a CO to review and attach the report to the applicant's case so I would leave at least a week's gap between medical and interview.
My husband only had his medical the day before the interview and it wasn't in the system at the time of interview, which we expected. He was told he was approved pending the medical report and his visa was delayed by about a week. Normally when an applicant is approved at the interview on Wednesday, the visa is issued and sent on Friday of the same week or early the next week. His visa was issued the following Friday (9 days after the interview) and arrived on Monday so he still had his passport and visa in under two weeks.
@EKT thanks for confirming this!

Does anyone know what they do for medical tests?
Congratulations!!! @Stevi_09 @ztiberiusd
Please let me know how go with your visa interviews as I’m looking at transferring my case to Auckland consulate by next month.
Also, Any idea if the medical appointments are easily available? I heard CityMed in Auckland are super busy these days.

Any update on the current wait time from DQ to Interview Date especially for those who were expedited?
Not sure about the wait time.. we were DQ’d by NVC on Feb 12th this year and still waiting for NVC/Sydney consulate to schedule our visa interview.
btw, when did you got DQ’d?

@Ash23122 thanks for your reply and congrats on being DQ!
We called NVC and they said they cannot send anything to Melbourne. The only option is to ask for an expedite… changes of those being approved are slim.
Yes I did notice Auckland processing times seem to have shot up so figured something was happening there. Might be best to hold tight for Sydney, June isn’t that far away…
Mind if I ask if there are any FB groups worth following for updates on the consulate? I’ve only seen the Sydney consulate official page which only has general updates.
I had a feeling they won't approve your request to move your case to Melbourne and they will only be able to transfer your case to the Sydney consulate if your expedite gets approved by NVC/Sydney consulate.
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do at this stage. Will just have to wait it out for Sydney Consulate to re-open.
Here you go - https://www.facebook.com/groups/307315123602923/
^This is the page I follow on Facebook. A lot of people are currently waiting for the Sydney consulate to schedule their visa interview.

@Ash23122 I was on the phone with the Sydney consulate again today, no ETA on when they open. I asked if we could be interviewed in Melbourne instead and they told me I would have to speak to NVC to reassign my case to Melbourne. So this is an avenue we are exploring as we are still in the Sydney pipeline at NVC. Melbourne would be far easier than having to fly to NZ and quarantine for 10 days. Will let you know how we get on and please share any updates on your case too!
Someone had posted on one of the Facebook pages I follow that rumour is - the Sydney consulate is planning to re-open their new location sometime in June 2022 (fingers crossed) and until then they will continue to schedule the visa interviews in Melbourne to clear the backlog.
My understanding is that NVC cannot transfer the case to the Melbourne consulate directly as the Sydney consulate is the only consulate in Australia that processes immigrant visa applications so only they have the authority to schedule or transfer the case to Melbourne but I guess, there is no harm in trying. Let me know how you go!
Update on my case -
So after sending multiple emails to the consulate and calling NVC, they finally accepted my NZ police certificate document on 12/02 and I got DQ'd (yayy!). So now just waiting for NVC/consulate to schedule the visa interview.I also did a quick research on the internet and found out the Auckland consulate has cancelled all the visa interviews that were scheduled between Feb & March due to COVID so don't think I will go down that path and request my case to be transferred to Auckland.

Has anyone recently got their visa interview scheduled by NVC or Sydney consulate for March/April?

Hey All,
Quick question - if my wife claims Recovery Rebate Credit on her tax return.
Does that impact our IR1 visa application?
Thanks,

Thank you! I had seen elsewhere that as soon as you submit anything it resets it all. And so didn’t know what to do.
I'd suggest submitting the new document ASAP before NVC reviews your case. Because once your first submission is reviewed and they ask you to submit a new document, you go back in the queue and will have to wait for another 3 - 4 months.
-
Has anyone recently applied to expedite their case with NVC and got approved? if so, can you please share your experience and timeline here? just trying to gauge the timeframe as I recently sent NVC an email to expedite our case and currently waiting for their response.

@Ash23122 so we called the Auckland consulate today and also happened to receive an email reply to our query at the same time!
Basically they said we have to ask NVC to move our case there. No mention of a backlog or any issues from their side. Looking at NVC requirements, seems if you are a citizen of the country you want your case moved to, it’s a no brainer really! So hoping it’s a quick process. I read NVC can take a month to reassign and then I’m guessing a further 4-6 weeks to hear about an interview from the consulate in Auckland.
The worrier in me wants to wait for the borders to open and see how it works out for the first few weeks. The borders between Australia and NZ have open and shut so many times in the last couple of years, it makes me a little nervous. We are thinking of reassigning by April, once we feel comfortable that Auckland will remain accessible to us.
Goodluck to you! Hope you get your GC sorted soon!
wow, that was quick. I still haven't heard back from them on the NZ police certificate query that I had sent last week.
Good call - I think it will be best to wait and watch how it all plays out before transferring the case to NZ as there is a huge risk that we might end up getting stuck here in Australia. I might do the same. Hopefully, by that time they will schedule the visa interview here only at Sydney or Melbourne consulate so we won't have to go down that path.
Thank you and good luck to you too! I will let you know if I hear any news on the visa appointments here in Sydney.

@F3MTL thanks for sharing your experience. If I am not wrong, you used assets to qualify, right?
if so, were your assets in the US or foreign country?
