Did you have any info about the Tire pressure monitor system? That is the item I believe is keeping me from importing my Rav4.
Thanks for the update.
For whatever reason, the manufacturer did not identify this as an issue for me. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer first and they will officially identify any "repairs" you will need. Honda even provided me with instructions on exactly what I needed in terms of paperwork.
I spoke to another forum member about the TPMS and she bought one off Amazon. Then she took it to a certified mechanic to install. You need to do that so you have official paperwork. You can ask them to print up an official repair order that clearly states they installed/inspected the TPMS and that it is functioning according to standards.

Just an update on my journey. I crossed the border with my car, belongings, and pets on Oct 15, at the Alcan crossing (Alaska). A few things to note:
- If anyone is activating their visa there, the "immigration" agent is only there on certain days of the week so call to confirm.
- They were inexperienced with car imports and so I had to convince them my car met the standards for import. I had all the paperwork in order (form and letter from manufacturer saying that my car met EPA and Safety standards). The issue was that there are a few things that Canadian cars are exempt from (e.g. the displays KM vs. Miles). The manufacturer wrote that those did not conform, but on the declaration form you fill out it clearly says that those are exempt. In the end they imported my car, and I was able to register my car no problem at the DMV to get plates.
- If you import pets to Alaska you are required to have updated rabies vaccination certificate and a health certificate from your vet, that then needs to be handed over to your Canadian Food Inspection Agency Veterinarian for an International Health Certificate. A regular check from the vet won't cut it because it needs to have a registered traceable number, which is only provided by CFIA. However, it's up to the discretion of the border agents whether or not your paperwork satisfies them. They didn't look at my paperwork or look at my physical pets. Very annoying with all the trouble I went through, but better safe than sorry if they wanted to be sticklers about the official paperwork.
- They didn't care about the inventory of my belongings, but I didn't bring a whole lot.

Has anyone crossed a land border recently to activate their visa/move? Covid test required for land crossing or no?

Congratulations!
I have a question, do the passport photos need to be stamped? I got mine done at CVS 2 weeks ago and they never stamped it. Expecting an interview soon since we are expedited. Thanks
I really can't say for sure, they might accept them, but they want them to be within 6 months and the only way for them to know is if they are stamped. Err on the side of caution.

Hey all, happy to report that I had my "interview" and the officer "plans to approve my visa".
Everyone was really nice. I could tell that the officer knew really nothing about my case, like he was encountering my information on the screen for the first time. I felt like the interview was really just to make sure that you meet them in person, you have all of your documents in order, that you can answer basic questions about your case correctly, and if there are any issues that you have a conversation about it then.
Documents they asked for in my particular case: passport, original birth certificate, original marriage certificate, original divorce certificates (spouse), original criminal record certificate, 1 passport photo, updated tax documents, US address that would go on the green card, my address.
He asked me:
Who is your petitioner?
Where did you meet and when?
When did you get married?
Do you have children? Does he have children? How old are they?
Have you been married before? Has he been married before?
Where does your petitioner live? Is that where you are planning to live?
Have you ever been arrested or convicted of a crime?
Where have you travelled in the last 5 years?
Do you have a joint sponsor?
Did you read the domestic violence pamphlet and understand it?
Did you live in any other countries besides Canada and South Korea?
I also asked him if wanted my updated proof of relationship and he said no, he believed me. But he took a look at my photos from Christmas anyway, which was nice.
Couple things:
- They didn't like my 2020 passport photos even though my lawyer assured me they would still accept them. They gave me a pass to leave the consulate and have them redone next door at the Pharampix. They absolutely need to be stamped within 6 months.
- Make sure to bring the originals for the everything (birth, marriage, divorce, criminal record from each country).
- Even if you hire an immigration lawyer, double check their work. They're human and deal with multiple consulates so they don't always get it right.

During interview registration I put the courier address as my PO Box. Is that going to be okay or do I need to put my physical home address?

@PHM @gavinski91 @MA1793 @MadKittyCat @John416 have you guys heard anything yet or is the cut-off October 2nd?
No...I didn't get anything. Looking like we'll be waiting almost a year total for a 5 minute interview when they have everything they need already in our paperwork!!
Why can't they get themselves together? My workplace, a public institution where I interact with the public, has been operating at full capacity for almost a year!!! What makes them so special that they can operate in such a manner at our expense? This whole thing is just too much.

You’ll be fine. There was lots of people that activated their visa and turned right around to tie up loose ends in Canada all with just a stamped passport
This is what I was thinking of doing because I live close to the border to the lower 48 but will probably be driving back up to Alaska. There's no requirement that you have to head straight to where you'll be living? I can just activate, go back through the Canadian border, then head back later?

Quite honestly the videos posted have sucked...royally. They were absolutely full of non-answers.
The only question I want answering from them, above anything else is "When will MTL request further spousal cases from the NVC?", honestly, if it's September, November, whatever, I really don't care, but I want at least a month so I can plan. Right now I'm paralyzed as I can't do anything given the fact that I might have to book a medical/flight/interview with two weeks notice. DX Like hell, if I knew it was gonna be another six months, I'd probably plan to go to the UK with my hubby for a few months and work remote from there as he'll get 6 months leave to enter.
Christ...I need a vacation, this stuff has been way too stressful, oh wait, I can't. Dx
I think we need to bombard the consulate with messages over the weekend, it'd be cathartic at least.
Non-answers, the specialty of the bureaucracy! It is frankly unjust how we are being treated. I am happy to submit all the documents they want to show I am a genuine and safe individual, but a 2+ year wait time to process an application is something USCIS needs to be held accountable for. The least they can do is answer our emails...we're at their mercy no matter what they say.
Anyway, I'm headed to Alaska...I really don't know what I am going to do if this is delayed into fall/winter and I'm facing a winter move up the Alaska Highway. The whole situation is just one stress after another. Anyone know the stats on divorce for people going through this? Or a long-term need for a psychologist? I feel like my brain structure is changing from living without joy and fulfillment for so long.

CR1 interview was May 12th. Got my passport back May 17th. I crossed at the ambassador bridge May 22nd to activate my visa. I imported my truck and had a small uhaul. Was through in about 1/2h with no issues. Super easy process.
Good luck to everyone still waiting for interview letters. The wait is most definitely worth it! Keep pushing through.@DkwCan you tell me what's involved in importing a vehicle?

Just wanted to let you all know that my US spouse contacted two different senators (and President Biden!) looking for answers regarding a lot of questions that we all have:
- what is happening with the inhumane amount of time we have been waiting;
- why can we not interview remotely or at a closer consulate during COVID restrictions;
- why do we not receive regular feedback or notices about timelines for interviewing;
- and more recently, why did the Montreal Consulate schedule less CR-1 interviews in May/and none for June.
So far, their process has been to get in touch with USCIS/NVC/Consulate in regard to our individual case and send us back the same stock replies that don't tell us anything new. Basically, they tell us the dates that our application was forwarded along and that we're waiting in line. Still waiting for specific answers to specific questions in a timely manner, but I don't know if that will ever happen. The White House didn't respond at all.
That said, I would encourage you to reach out (respectfully) anyway. Mr. Vermillion was terribly nice yesterday on the Immigrant Visa Backlog Q&A, but they're not doing enough. They CAN do more and they CAN, in the very least, communicate better with us.

@Hawk RidersWasn't sure if this is the right place to put this: but can you add my timeline to the CR-1 Montreal spreadsheet/list of desperate spouses hoping for an interview sometime soon. 😁 Thank you!

Hi, been in the US for almost 6 months now. Does anyone who is in the US now have a contact (either in the US or Canada) to do both my US and Canadian taxes? I have income from both sides of the border. Thanks!
