strwbrysky reacted to Chancy in APRIL 2022 K1 NOA2 to NVC to EMBASSY
The best time to fill out the DS-160 is when the case status on CEAC shows "Ready". The submitted DS-160 will not expire. The 30-day expiration is only for DS-160 in draft (filled but not submitted).

Just a little update. The initial appointment fiancee made on 10th/11th was cancelled by embassy since case hadn't arrived yet. It finally did on the 16th and status changed to "Ready". Before reading why the original appointment was cancelled, fiancee scheduled it again since it arrived. At this point, we still had not received Instruction Package email from embassy. But unlike before, the embassy did not cancel, which is good! And just a moment ago, received email from embassy Now we wait patiently for interview 😬🤞
Have a question about timeline dates. Should I put down dates in US time or in Korean time? Just wondering since there is a 14 hour gap... Like the email from embassy is dated the 18th of May, but it's still 17th of May here.

I had my interview at the London Embassy yesterday and with great pleasure I can say that the visa got approved!!!! The process was super smooth and efficient.
It has been a long journey, but all worth it! We're so happy and we're getting ready for our new beginning finally 🙂
I wish all the best to the rest of you and to meet your loved ones very soon 😀

Couple weeks ago, found packet 3 at the US Embassy-Korea website using the site map. It listed what documents to bring to the interview and the requirements for them. On Tuesday (10th), we received an email from NVC that our case was sent to the embassy, so our status on CEAC is now "In Transit". That day we started filling out DS-160 and although many folks here said to wait for cases to arrive at the embassy, we went ahead and submitted it the following day 😖. That same day, my fiancée was able to pay the MRV fee using the Electronic Funds Transfer option listed in ustraveldocs Korea site. Couple hours later, she was able to schedule the interview and then made the medical exam appointment.... Hopefully status will be "Ready" on CEAC before the interview date. Don't be like us, folks!!! Although I'm excited that we're so close to being together, my anxiety has spiked due to doing things out of order. 🤞

Yea I think that's what is going to happen, I will get a 221g until they received the medical result. Yea I realized how different it is in very embassy. My p4 is basically instructions to book interview, then pay fee then medical and the stuff I bring. I was going to link it here, but it mention Canada lol.
I hope you get a date soon, so you know what to aim for

Oh... they really are testing our patience lol. Are you able to schedule your interview date knowing you have your medical date?
Things kind of flew and I wasn't emotionally ready for lol
We didn't get our p3 by email (even I gave them our emails), so it got delayed (mail sent may 4, and we only received it may 9 by postal mail). But I sent it out yesterday, and got p4 today lol and scheduled my medical and interview. However, they are busy too and I might not get the medical result on time for the interview, so it might delay the approval. I hope that's the only issue and things will go smoothly for you guys!

Just this morning I received the official NVC letter. Maybe that's what they meant? I'm not sure either.
Yes, we got the packet but thru email, its a pdf file. It says we have to book and complete the medical and once we get the result we have to email the embassy to let them know so they can book our interview. But the month's waiting for the medical, it's kinda long wait.. We were hoping to celebrate fourth of July together but I don't think it's happening.

@Display Name2 Thanks for pulling this!
So for 228 at $535 each that was a free $120,000+ that they definitely don’t seem to be using to pay overtime to clear out our backlog. Brilliant.

Hey!
So as promised a review! Lined up at passport control, officer ripped open my envelope (I noticed he glanced at the seal). Someone then escorted me into a waiting room, called my name and returned my passport!
Didn't say anything about the tear
It was a long day flying with a cat in cabin haha but we made it!!
Goodluck to everyone!
Yes, we've started the forms and we're going to double check in the next week and then triple check!

Wow! That’s quite expensive! I was thinking of printing and filling it out myself and have my fiancé fill out the page where his sign is needed then have it scanned then I’ll print it out. To answer your question, according to the USCIS site:
“The edition date is 4/25/2022. You can use the old form till June 27, 2022, but best to use the new form for those of you who are still waiting for the consulate interview.”
If your interview is before June 27, 2022, I think the old form should be okay. However of it’s after that date, I think you’ll have to use the updated one.

Yes, the new I-134 (Edition Date: 4/25/2022) is confusing and you are not the only one confused. As another thread suggests, you could theoretically not answer Question17 (or Item Number 17), but if I was using the new I134 for upcoming interview, I certainly would fill it out.
https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/783115-k1-i-134-beneficiary-income/?tab=comments#comment-10668287
I think the source of the confusion is that the new I-134 can be filled out by either the petitioner or the beneficiary as selected in Part1, Question1. Depending on who fills out the I134, the answers may be very different, as opposed to the old I-134, the petitioner was the one who filled it out. But IN MY OPINION AS I AM NO K1 LEGAL EXPERT, I think the new tables Question17 (Item Number 17) and Question22 (Item Number 22) are to provide extra data for the embassy/consulate to do some quick math to see if the petitioner can financially support the beneficiary, or if mathematically the petitioner and beneficiary is trending towards government assistance like another data to red flag.
So if I was filling the new I-134 as the beneficiary, I would certainly work with the petitioner to come up with the math to fill out Question17. For example if the petitioner's income is 125% of the HHS guidelines for a family of 4, I would work backwards from the income 34,687.5 = 1.25*27,750, and determine how much annually to support each household member like maybe 15,000 = 4*3750, and put down 3750 for "Income contribution to the beneficiary annually" for each "Individual".
https://aspe.hhs.gov/topics/poverty-economic-mobility/poverty-guidelines
Question22 lists the assets that the beneficiary brings into the relationship. So any beneficiary assets are positives for the relationship (even for foreign assets). Item Numbers 18-19 asks if any income source are illegal similar to how the DS-160 asks for illegal or extremist activities? Question20-21 asks if the beneficiary income comes from "mean-tested public benefits" like was the beneficiary on public assistance in the foreign country? These new Items or Questions on the I-134 (Edition Date: 4/25/2022) provide extra data so the consulate can determine the risks of the petitioner and beneficiary becoming dependent on government assistance. Good Luck!!!

Just went through the instructions for the new form and it says:
So, I assume the new beneficiary income requirement does not really apply to K-1 filers. At first, I thought this relates to the current income of the beneficiary in their country. But the instructions talk about income they WILL receive.

Yes, the new I-134 (Edition Date 4/25/2022) is very confusing.
Item 17 can be interpreted as a more detailed version of the old Question 38?
https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/622135-i-134-question-38-contributions/
But now, you have to list or itemize specific income contributions to the beneficiary and dependents?
The descriptions on the form I134 itself "Provide information about the beneficiary's income and assets" and "Income contribution to the beneficiary annually" doesn't seem to be very clear?
I can see this being a big forum discussion or the source of many confusions.

Hey just an update, my visa has finally been issued and out of AP took a total of 7 days (including the weekend)
Just in case people from the UK were wondering how long on average it takes for visa issuance

“Starting June 27, 2022, we will only accept the 04/25/22 edition. Until then, you can use the 02/13/19 edition. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions.”

The I-797 is just the notice of approval. Next step is to wait about two to three weeks and start calling NVC at 603-334-0888 to see if they received your case from USCIS, submitted in their system and case created, if so get your NVC case # and invoice ID. While you're at it, verify your's and beneficiary's email address. With NVC case number you can start tracking to see when it leaves NVC to arrival to embassy/consulate. Your beneficiary can also start working on DS-160 with those case number but wait on submitting till your case arrives at embassy/consulate.
