Alright guys, gave the biometrics and a picture was taken there. Easy 5 mins process. Nobody should have anxiety over it.

Not alone, I received my extension letter yesterday along with a separate notice for biometrics appointment.
Does your notice mention any code number on the letter?

I got the ID made, thanks for your help!

SIRE reacted to Linos in Permanent Residency Card + SSC for recent Irish immigrants
I guess it’s the official ID you need to do a lot of things like open memberships, accounts, buy alcohol (I’m still not sure myself 😂)
once I got my SSN I went down to the local DMV with my passport and proof of address to get it. It’s the same place you get your drivers licence etc

Thank you, I made an appointment, filled out SS5 form and got it done at the field office. Waiting period is 4 weeks now. I was hoping for a temporary number or something so I could apply for driver's license and open bank account in the meantime.

SIRE reacted to neca in Permanent Residency Card + SSC for recent Irish immigrants
Hi all,
SS card came in the first of July, after a call with the local office trying to get the SSN in advance and being told that it wasn't issued yet (I guess they didn't bother looking up the details after we told them of how soon we had entered). The card was printed as being issued the day after our arrival in the US, the 25th of June. No GC yet.
I don't know why we got the SSN so soon. We checked the box on the DS-260, and I had asked some questions to the border officer knowing that SSN has been kind of variable with covid backups, don't know if those were factors or if we just got lucky.

SIRE got a reaction from neca in Permanent Residency Card + SSC for recent Irish immigrants
Hi All,
The previous Dublin interview topic have been a huge support throughout our journey and I am glad to say that I have made some new friends during this pandemic over the last several months on this forum. So, a huge shoutout to the admins and the general community here! Its been quite helpful.
As we move forward in this journey I wanted to create this topic for our recent Irish immigrants who have been able to move to US in recent times and share experiences related to receiving their green card/permanent residency card and/or SSC card and how have they been dealing with settling down i.e. opening bank account, applying for drivers license etc.
I am in touch with a few folks from previous thread but thought this public info will be useful for the rest of us.
So has anybody who recently moved received their green card yet? We moved about a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet.

SIRE got a reaction from strwbrysky in Dublin, ireland interview
Hey all, its been a journey with you guys and that concludes here, we are finally in the US.
Immigration is fairly smooth and straight forward, they will take your passport, ask you a couple of questions, once done, they will take you for secondary screening, it takes about 10-15mins, and then they will stamp your passport.
I wanted to point out for everyones info which I wasn't aware of, if you have a connecting flight at any airport out of US, then your POE will happen once you are in the US and you will have to go through customs. All direct flights from Dublin to US will go through US customs & preclearance at Dublin airport.
We took a flight from Dublin to London to US so our POE was US. All good tho, great experience. I am amazed how nice and welcoming the immigration officers are.
Once again, wish you all the very best! if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or DM if its personal.

SIRE got a reaction from CarolineEddie in Starting work on arrival
Hi Caroline,
We are in a similar situation, moved to US about 3 weeks ago and still waiting on both to arrive.
Created a thread to keep a track and help each other out.

You will become a legal resident the minute you enter the US via your CR-1 visa. Upon arrival, CBP will stamp (endorse) the visa, which then becomes your temporary Green card until the plastic one arrives. Upon arrival, you will be immediately authorized to work in the US. You will, likely, need a Social Security card/number in order for employers to pay you.

Don't worry much. They should send you at address you mentioned on DS260. Find out near by SSN office and call them OR make an appointment.
Definitely they will help you.

If you don't get your SSN in another week, it might be time to book an appointment at an SSA office to apply personally for SSN.

Per the following below website you can contract SS office if you don't receive until 3 weeks. I am approaching the 3 weeks timeline and haven't rec'd anything so far. I suppose I need SSN to open bank account, get the insurance and apply for driver's license.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, new here myself.
