  1. There's precisely zero excuse for this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why Did it Take Five Days for Pentagon to Disclose that Defense Sec Lloyd Austin is Hospitalized? **UPDATE** Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was admitted to the hospital on January 1. The American public was not told of this development until Friday, January 5. 2. Iran Ushers in 2024 by Restarting Practice of Flogging Women Who Refuse to Wear a Hijab Roya Heshmati received 74 lashes for her refusal to wear a hijab. The Iranian regime has started to flog women who do not follow the Islamic rule of covering their hair. 3. This is great. This is the easiest part of the process, and well worth it in multiple ways.
  4. Ellis, what a story! Thanks for returning with the details. Your positive attitude (especially considering the extra $$$) is admirable. Better luck next time, and hopefully with an actual card and appropriate visas in hand.
  5. Oboy oboy -- Sunday! Time for our hilarious, approval-evoking* Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke: *if correlation = causation ========================================== IMPORTANT THOUGHTS I put my scale in the bathroom corner, and that's where the little liar will stay until it apologizes. My mind is like an Internet browser. At least 19 open tabs, 3 of them are frozen, and I have no clue where the music is coming from. Hard to believe -- I once had a phone attached to a wall, and when it rang, I picked it up without knowing who was calling, and I'm still alive. By replacing your potato chips with grapefruit as a snack, you can lose up to 90% of the joy that you still have left in life. Son: "Dad, can you tell me about a solar eclipse?" Dad: "No, Sun." Beer is now cheaper than gas. Drink. Don't drive.
  6. Thrilling Saturday non-GS/ES/MS report, see man: Lunch/din-din was at a Chinese buffet, 2 birds one stone man. We had Many (2+1) plates heaped inches high with beef, ingest we man. Rant, see man: Restaurants shouldn't mix vegetables so thoroughly, hard to pick out the beef man. Wonderful postprandial siesta at casa, zzz we man. Watched Texans beat Colts, man. Many (2+1) bowls of Costco popcorn were consumed, ingest we man. Miu has spent all of her non-zzz-ing day seeking interaction, needy miu man. Party with the rubias imminent, cavort we man. Happy Columbus Day in Poland, oj tak! Sunday = prep for Two Guys week, prep we man for wee man man.

  9. Gosh... you joined VJ in 2006... very few of us remaining from that "era." Your VJ timeline is incomplete, but presumably she had the 10-year card and you applied for its renewal. -- Was the first 10-year card in her married name? If not, why not? -- You "showed her license and our marriage license" -- driver's license? If the first 10-year card was in her married name and the new one is not, someone at USCIS screwed up. If it's USCIS's error, you don't have to pay for a corrected replacement card. Send the wrong one back with an I-90. You might want to consult your U.S. Congressman's office to learn whether they have a specific office or contact at USCIS that can streamline the correction and replacement. *** Thread is moved from ROC forum to General Immigration Discussion, where other threads about I-90 filing are posted. ***
  10. Keep fighting. Fight like hell. Don't let those illegitimate male children win.
  11. Welcome to the forum. You might try contacting your U.S. Congressman's office. They have special channels through which to inquire, and they can at least give you a status update, if not knock the card loose for you.
  12. One late addition to GS itinerary, late posting man. That GS was a dud, ridiculous man. Second GS was phantom, another infuriating apartment address without signage man. ES had something that we should have carried with us while looking, someone else got it man. Many'rd GS was closing up 2 hours + half an hour early, but see the take man. MS had Many books, but we didn't want to bend to root through boxes, no man. The take, see man: -- Many (2+2) red ballpoint pens = half a buck, steal man Total = Half a Buck Inauspicious start to New Year, dud and thud man.
  13. Highly readable and enlightening, including the analysis after you think the article is over. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BREAKING: The Supreme Court Decides Whether To Take Trump's 'Disqualification' Appeal (and a Deep Dive) [...] So, the argument goes like this: Trump took an oath, as an officer of the United States, to support the Constitution of the United States. He engaged in insurrection by inciting the riot on January 6, 2021. Therefore, he is pretty much disqualified to hold any office in the United States (including in state government) unless two thirds of Congress votes to remove the disqualification. 14. Jonathan Turley -- he's genuinely perturbed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ballot Cleansing: Democrats are Moving to Bar Republicans from Ballots Nationwide Below is my column in the New York Post on the expansion of the 14th Amendment theory to attempt to remove Republican candidates for Congress from the ballots. Dozens of Democratic members have already called for the disqualification of up to 126 Republican colleagues under the same sweeping theory. These efforts show how this theory could place this country on a slippery slope to political chaos if not clearly and finally rejected by the Supreme Court. 15. The Association of Mature American Citizens Has Quietly Become A Conservative Powerhouse [...] If there is a silver lining to the corruption of the AARP, it's that it is no longer the only interest group representing politically influential seniors. In 2007, Dan Weber founded the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC). Though Weber had himself been a member of the AARP, he was frustrated with the politically liberal direction of the organization, which was far more radical than most members realized. Though initially the organization existed only in Florida and New York, in 2009 AMAC went national and began recruiting members as a conservative alternative to AARP. 17. Scintillating Friday repartee, yawn man. ----- Thrilling Friday report, see man: Miu demanded brushing Many (2+2+1) -- si man, Many (2+2+1) -- times on Thursday, spoiled miu man. It monsooned like an illegitimate male child overnight, oblivious zzz-ing we man. Lunch was Costco chicken salad crammed inside the remaining Many (2+2) hot-dog buns from Two Guys week, ingest we man. Set forth on Mama T-B.'s grocerying, serve senior she man we man. Could have gotten everything at 2 legacy supermarkets, obvious to we man man. However, we wanted to prove a point, so we got everything possible at Aldi, surprisingly a lot man. This was distinctly cheaper than even at the cheap legacy supermarket, obvious man. We then got the remaining items, Many (2+1) stores total man. Delivered all to Mama T-B., badly in need of siesta senior she man. Senior she man certainly put everything away before zzz-ing, we know senior she man we man. At casa, serviced demanding miu, then took siesta, overslept zzz man. Din-din was onecan of Aldi chili, ingest we man. We have itineraried 2 GSs, 1 ES, and 1 MS for Saturday, close to casa but weird route man. Party with the rubias in a few hours, cavort we man. Happy Columbus Day in Poland, oj tak!

  19. If the nets save even one jumper's life or causes him to look for help rather than try jumping, they're worth it.
  20. This, and there was always a thin veneer of justification for Western/U.S. intervention anyway.
  21. A parallel thread in the "Bringing Family of USCs" forum has been locked. The OP is unwilling to accept advice accurately and exhaustively given, so this thread is also locked. This topic is not to be restarted or revisited. VJ Moderation
  22. Thread is closed in favor of this thread in Tourist Visas: Visa3310, accept the answers that you've been given in both threads -- they're accurate. Please start no more threads on this topic.
  23. Thread is moved from the Finding Work forum to the "Moving to the U.S." forum -- topic goes beyond work.
  24. Houston (or a suburb) would be great for housing, work, and quality of life -- of course, depending on where you chose or could afford to live. There are two seasons: summer, and January. Not so much for allergies -- there's tree (oak, elm, ash) pollen, grass pollen, mold spores, and more. It's very humid. Aside from south Florida or Hawaii (both very expensive), consider south Texas, known as the "Rio Grande Valley" -- Harlingen, McAllen, Brownsville, or one of the smaller cities nearby. It will help you greatly if you know at least some Spanish, or can learn.
