Whether you read the story or not, the video alone is sobering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Iowa floodwaters breach levees as even more rain dumps onto parts of the Midwest [...] A vast swath of lands from eastern Nebraska and South Dakota to Iowa and Minnesota has been under siege from flooding from torrential rains since last week, while also being hit with a scorching heat wave. Up to 18 inches (46 centimeters) of rain have fallen in some areas, and some rivers rose to record levels. Hundreds of people were rescued, homes were damaged and at least two people died after driving in flooded areas. [...] https://www.yahoo.com/news/more-rain-possible-deluged-midwest-044542979.html

'It's Not What It Looks Like!' Man Insists After Getting Caught Watching WNBA Game DALLAS, TX — Sources at the Grady household reported this weekend that Bill Grady scrambled for an explanation when his wife Cara caught him watching a WNBA game on his phone. Grady was closely watching a game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky in his man cave when Cara walked into the room. A flustered Bill reportedly fumbled to close out of the game in a frantic attempt to hide what he was doing. This is really interesting. Comments about it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Little Secret I've Learned From 30 Years of Watching Debates With Voters If you're a typical American voter in any party, allow me to let you in on a little secret: What matters most to you in a presidential debate probably isn't the same thing that gets the most attention from the candidates, the campaigns and their allies in the immediate aftermath of those big televised showdowns. I made this point once or twice in the past (a lot less elegantly than the above) by saying, "Tariffs are a temporary tool or weapon." --- Folks: As high-level as the current discussion about tariffs has been -- one of our best on any topic, in fact -- let's keep in mind the OP's thread topic. -
Unless this idea needs more elaboration, I think that there are too many ways in which this could be "gamed." One example is corrupt officials in other countries who would "approve" anyone for financial or political reason. Second, the U.S. background checks are so secret that not even consular officers know what's involved, so how would an individual outside the country be able to satisfy the U.S.'s requirements?

BREAKING: Eco-Terrorists Dump Paint on 18th Green During Finish of PGA Final Round (Video) [...] On Sunday, I was watching the final round of the signature golf tournament in Connecticut – The Travelers. The best golfers on the planet, Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim, were in a battle for the win. Kim was one stroke behind and Schefler needed a birdie to seal the win. As both men were sizing up their puts, a group of eco-terrorists jumped out of the crowd, surrounded the 18th green, and stormed out toward the green. The first jerk had a flare in hand, and two others had paint; they rushed onto the green, dumping red and white paint. Here is what happened: [...] https://redstate.com/jimthompson/2024/06/23/breaking-eco-terrorists-dumped-paint-on-18th-green-of-pga-final-round-finish-n2175859

Starting younger & younger... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jewish Family Beaten at Brooklyn 5th Grade Graduation: 'Free Palestine!' 'Death to Israel!' [...] The latest ugly episode occurred at a Brooklyn elementary school, where a Jewish family was attacked and beaten by anti-Israel zealots who yelled "Free Palestine!" "Gaza is Ours!" and "Death to Israel!" as they assaulted the mom and her husband at a graduation ceremony. Another 'Conspiracy Theory' Turns Out to Be True: Welfare Offices Hand Out Voter Registration to Illegals It sure is strange how so many supposed 'conspiracy theories' turn out to be true. The gas stove ban that wasn't happening, until it was(unless you're special, like Kamala Harris) comes to mind. At the beginning of May, the Biden-Harris campaign mocked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for introducing legislation that would prohibit illegal immigrants from voting in federal elections. It wasn't necessary, the campaign said, because it's already against the law for illegal immigrants to vote in federal elections. The AP dutifully carried water for the administration too, saying illegals voting in federal elections was merely a 'Right-wing talking point.' Well, guess what? Welfare offices across the country are handing out voter registration forms to illegal immigrants. Poll: Nearly Half of US EV Owners Regret Purchase To listen to the Biden administration, the situation with electric vehicles is going swimmingly. People love them. Government subsidies make them more affordable. As a bonus, you get the pride and satisfaction of knowing that you're doing your part to rescue Mother Earth from carbon emissions or whatever. But according to a recent survey from McKinsey and Co. conducted this month, people remain unconvinced, particularly in the United States. They polled EV owners in nine countries and found that 46% of American owners of EVs want to switch back to gas-powered cars with internal combustion engines. There were lower levels of dissatisfaction in some other nations, but nearly half of American owners are experiencing regret. Thrilling Sunday report, see man: Proper HSM helped overnight, relief for we man. However, we have been sneezing for the past couple of days, sneeze we man. Today, we conclude that we probably have a cold, drat it man. Breakfast (!!?) was a banana, ingest we man. Lunch was 2 ham sandwiches, indict them and ingest we man. An ineffective siesta was taken after the latter, inadequate zzz we man. Din-din was onecan of Aldi chili, ingest we man. We somehow subdued our laundry load and dished/de-dished the warsher, no energy we man. We did not leave the casa at all, no man. Miu alternately zzz-ing like a dead thing and being demanding, representative spectrum of miu personality man. Mini-B. arrived shortly into AFV, start of Two Guys week man. Movie night involved more Everybody Hates Chris episodes, watch Two Guys man. Many (2+2) bowls of Costco popcorn were consumed, ingest Two Guys man. Counting the other night, we already have Many (2+2+2+1) bowls tallied, impressively fast start man. We are unsure of what HSM to take tonight, must try to nuke cold man. No party with the rubias tonight, cough/sneeze we man. And that was/is our thrilling Sunday, see and si man.

Jonathan Turley is rather pointed here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the Supreme Court, two cases lay bare New York's legal wasteland [...] James secured an obscene civil penalty of almost half a billion dollars without having to show there was a single victim or dollar lost from alleged overvaluation of assets. Through various contortions, Bragg converted a dead misdemeanor case into 34 felonies in an unprecedented prosecution. New Yorkers and the media insisted that such selective prosecution was in defense of the "rule of law." This week in the Supreme Court, a glimpse of the legal landscape outside of Manhattan came more sharply into view. It looked very different as the Supreme Court, with a strong conservative majority, defended the rights of defendants and upheld core principles that are being systematically gutted in New York.
