VAWA, Part 27
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
Notaries notarize signatures, not documents. The following is not legal advice, but the outcome of observation: 1. The witness can put his/her statement in the form of an affidavit, with the notary-certification language included. The notary can administer a jurat oath whereby the witness shows positive identification (driver's license or other government-issued ID), swears that he/she is the person signing in the presence of the notary, and swears that he/she is signing the affidavit freely/willingly for the purposes stated therein; or 2. The witness can attach a separate page to his/her letter, swearing or acknowledging that the attached letter is his/her truthful statement. The witness would then sign the separate page in the presence of the notary. After either of the above, the notary would sign and stamp the appropriate page. -
Daily Update on Biden Tanking America (Part 2)

I'm almost willing to bet cash money that there will be internal terrorist attacks either right before November 5 or during Bidementia's lame-duck months before Trump's inauguration. Really hate to say that... -
Ah -- thanks. Seems to me that regular people without high security clearances wouldn't have access to the full spectrum of security steps (or to request them), and that information learned might expire before the visa process proceeded. In addition, these checks might be open to abuse -- e.g., a "petitioner" wouldn't be interested in petitioning at all, but rather in finding dirt on someone overseas for blackmail or harassment. Sorry for suggesting negative possibilities, but they came to mind.

"Who's A Good Boy? Huh? Who's A Good Boy?" Says Jill Biden Congratulating Biden With A Treat ATLANTA, GA — Following Biden's debate performance, First Lady Jill Biden offered her husband a treat for his efforts at a rally following the event. "Who's a good boy?" Jill asked a glazed-over Joe. "Does my Joey want a snacky-snack? Good boy! You did so great up there, not dying and totally staying upright for so many minutes. Atta boy!" Trump Indicted For Murdering Elderly Man On CNN ATLANTA — Tonight's presidential debate ended abruptly when Donald Trump was served with papers notifying him that he had been indicted for the murder of an elderly man on CNN. "Hey, I didn't do anything!" Trump told authorities. "He was like that when I got here!" [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/trump-indicted-for-murdering-elderly-man-on-cnn

I buy this; do you? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Worst Video From Debate Night and the Real Reason Biden Isn't Going Anywhere [...] Biden's performance was so bad that even his biggest supporters wouldn't (and couldn't) spin it as a "win." And, believe it or not, Jill Biden made it worse when the debate was over. Once the debate had officially concluded and Trump left the stage, Joe Biden remained at his podium, waiting until his wife Dr. Jill came to help him. The footage speaks for itself. Read this piece and offer thoughts, please. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If Joe Shouldn't Be the Candidate, He Should Leave Office Now [...] In other words, Joe Biden has to be replaced as president. I don't mean his name has to be taken off the ballot for this November. I mean, he must be ushered out the door, either voluntarily or by the actions of his cabinet. Julie Kelley, the heroine of J6 victims, speaks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Supreme Court Overturns DOJ's Use of Key J6 Felony Court In a devastating but well-deserved blow to the Department of Justice's criminal prosecution of January 6 protesters, the U.S. Supreme Court today overturned how the DOJ has used 18 USC 1512(c)(2), the most prevalent felony in J6 cases. The statute, commonly referred to as "obstruction of an official proceeding," has been applied in roughly 350 J6 cases; it also represents two of four counts in Special Counsel Jack Smith's J6-related criminal indictment of Donald Trump in Washington. This one, more about the underlying issue than the debate itself, hits home in many ways. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why the Democrats lied about Joe Biden's frailty So this is how republics die. Not with a bang but with the hoarse ramblings of their ageing leaders. Few events have shone a light on 'American decline' as much as Joe Biden's sad, impassive performance in last night's CNN presidential debate. Here was the leader of the free world speaking in faint, broken tones, and struggling to stay focussed, and at points seeming to blank out entirely. Before the eyes of the world, it became clear: this man is too old, too frail and too infirm to be at the helm of America. And yet, Old Joe's physical infirmity is not the thing that should horrify us. [...] https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/06/28/why-the-democrats-lied-about-joe-bidens-frailty/

Very good historical point that merits being brought up. There may be less material available on another example: in 1912, former Pres. Theodore Roosevelt entered the presidential race very late, on the "Bull Moose" ticket, against Pres. William Howard Taft. Roosevelt's entrance split the Republican vote and put the evil Woodrow Wilson in the White House -- one of the biggest disasters in U.S. history. There are bad presidents and evil ones, and I call Wilson out as even more evil than Obama. -

Wella, wella! ~~~~~~~~~ Judge Cannon's Latest Ruling May Have Shot Down One Trump Claim but It's Likely Giving Jack Smith Ulcers We knew Judge Aileen Cannon likely wouldn't rule right away on the multiple motions heard before her over the past week in the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump. The issues are complicated, and there are a lot of moving parts in the case. So when I first saw the headline: "Cannon rejects Trump claims FBI botched Mar-a-Lago search," I was a bit surprised at the swiftness of the ruling. And I figured Trump and his legal team were likely disappointed with the ruling. Then I took a closer look (always recommended). Five Major SCOTUS Decisions Expected This Summer
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Yes -- important, and a relief to see! Here's a more pessimistic post, part of some of mine from the VJ server changeover, recovered and posted here: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Supreme Court Is Not Going To Save You The Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling in Murthy v. Missouri dropped Wednesday, shattering the hopes of conservatives that maybe, just maybe, the Judicial Branch would stand up for the First Amendment rights of ordinary Americans against the egregious abuses of the executive bureaucracy. But no. The Court instead ruled that the plaintiffs lacked standing because the Biden White House allegedly backed off of its censorship campaign after the 2022 midterms (it didn't). The ruling essentially allows the federal government to continue trampling on the First Amendment rights of ordinary Americans by deputizing social media companies to do what federal agencies cannot do directly: police what Americans are allowed to say online. Guys, see explanation/apology for why some debate-related posts have been split from this more general thread and moved to the Debate thread. Here is one of mine from last night that got put on the old server. I managed to get it back and am reposting it now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes, Democrats Can Replace Biden - With Newsom or Anyone They Want. Here's How. [...] Under the DNC's Call for Convention, it's essentially impossible for Biden to be replaced at the convention against his will because of the rules related to pledged delegates. He'd have to drop out. However, there's a provision allowing the DNC to replace the nominee for President or Vice President after the convention occurs in the event of "death, resignation, or disability of a nominee." [...] The document doesn't specify how that disability needs to be certified or who makes the determination of disability, but after Biden's abysmal performance and the panic setting in among the Democrat ruling class, it stands to reason that DNC leadership will construe that section in the manner that allows them to replace Biden. Guys, some debate-specific posts have been split from the master "2024 Elections/Candidates/etc." thread and posted in this Debate thread, which will soon die down and give way to the master thread again. This post-splitting may strike you as hair-splitting, but hopefully you can forgive it as a small part of recovering from the server switchover. I'm still replacing missing posts and a little other stuff. Thanks for understanding.

Captain Ewok graciously saved a bunch of my posts that had gone to the old server. Here are some about the Bidementia debate. ======================================================== Huh -- the liberals are panicking over the debate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Fumbling Performance, and a Panicking Party President Biden hoped to build fresh momentum for his re-election bid by agreeing to debate two months before he is formally nominated. Instead, his halting and disjointed performance on Thursday night prompted a wave of panic among Democrats and reopened discussion of whether he should be the nominee at all. Over the course of 90 minutes, a raspy-voiced Mr. Biden struggled to deliver his lines and counter a sharp though deeply dishonest former President Donald J. Trump, raising doubts about the incumbent president's ability to wage a vigorous and competitive campaign four months before the election. Rather than dispel concerns about his age, Mr. Biden, 81, made it the central issue. Democrats who have defended the president for months against his doubters — including members of his own administration — traded frenzied phone calls and text messages within minutes of the start of the debate as it became clear that Mr. Biden was not at his sharpest. Some took to social media to express shock at his troubles, while others privately discussed among themselves what it would mean for the party and whether it was too late to persuade the president to step aside in favor of a younger candidate. [...] https://archive.is/JG5xs#selection-705.0-717.512 And here... ~~~~~~~~~~~ Dems freak out over Biden's debate performance: 'Biden is toast' [...] Biden's rambling answers provided Trump multiple opportunities to jump in with retorts. At one point, after an answer ostensibly on immigration, Trump said, "I don't know what he said at the end there. I don't think he knows what he said." The president's performance was widely panned online and will likely reinforce the impression that he's lost a step. The 81-year-old president's age has long been a liability, with poll after poll showing even many Democrats concerned about his age. [...] https://www.politico.com/news/2024/06/27/biden-debate-opening-concerns-00165595 This one seems a little too gloating to me, but who knows? And I suppose there were some "gotcha" attempts by the moderators. ~~~~~~~~~~~ After Debate Win, Pondering Trump's First 100 Days Donald Trump easily won Thursday's debate, besting a sputtering, often-incoherent Joe Biden who had little to offer the American people but fumbled talking points and bluster. In contrast, a confident and relaxed Trump offered a way back to the Three Fat Years of economic growth and peace that punctuated his presidency while sidestepping irrelevant "gotcha" issues that matter to the political class but not to average voters. Trump easily jumped traps that CNN's operatives attempted to set for him. He turned a question about the January 6 riot into a comparison between America then versus America now. He flipped a gotcha question about abortion to spotlight Democrats' advocacy for late-term abortion. Biden twice fumbled responses to this sole issue that is supposed to be Democrats' ace up the sleeve. Trump even sounded unifying on the matter.
