  1. Or Addis Ababa, even farther. I'm going to ping somebody who should have more insights.
  2. Smart thinking, I agree. For sure. Could Dad emigrate somewhere where you could visit him? That long? Holy mackerel. Where's the +1,000 upvote button?
  3. tjasmin111, welcome to the forum! This is an old thread (now closed to further comment). Sabela doesn't have an immigration timeline, but you can hover your cursor over the name "Sabela" and click "find content" in the pop-up box. This will show that Sabela passed that stage and several more, and so all is well. If you're still concerned about your own issue, you can start a fresh thread.
  4. Just from your photo above: What a lovely, happy couple!
  5. If South Africa gets its act together, maybe this won't be necessary for long. I have no specific knowledge, but my guess is that Nairobi would be the only consulate on the east-ish coast of Africa that might have the wherewithal to handle transfers. A bigger concern for me would be how and where "U.S. Citizen Services" would be handled.

  7. Brian, good thinking. What you're describing is called "front-loading the petition package." The requirements to pass USCIS's standards for the petition are minimal. Petitioners often fail to realize that the visa interview at the consular phase is even more crucial. When dealing with a difficult consulate or one in a high-fraud country, it's prudent to include extra "evidence of a bona fide relationship" such as documentation of your multiple trips. It's important not only to document your DUI, but to clarify that your fiancee is fully aware of it. I would put USCIS's required materials on top of your package, and behind this have a cover sheet with "FOR THE CONSULATE" atop the boarding passes, receipts, and selected photos from each trip, along with selected correspondence throughout your relationship, that you want the consular officers to see. Be very careful to exclude any correspondence in which you playfully refer to each other as "husband/wife." "Now" is a relative term -- it will take many months before your petition is adjudicated, and months after that before it's assigned to a consulate, and longer still to obtain a visa interview.

  14. Dad Issues Kids Night Vision Goggles So Family Never Has To Turn On A Light Again HOULTON, ME — Local man Chris Porter stumbled upon an incredible life hack to reduce his family's electric bill after giving each of his children a pair of night vision goggles so his family would never have to turn on a light ever again. "Look, kids! This is an ATN PVS-7! It has a wide field of view and sharp resolution to allow for increased visibility and target acquisition," Porter told his kids. "Aren't they great? Now put these on and I'll turn off the lights. Forever." According to sources, [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/dad-issues-kids-night-vision-goggles-so-family-never-has-to-turn-on-a-light-again
  15. Some really compelling arguments are in this article. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Use of Red Flag Laws Doesn't Mean They're Effective Red flag laws are one of those things that are far too popular for anyone's own good. I get the idea of disarming dangerous people. The problem is that there's already a mechanism to do that lawfully. People get their due process rights observed and, if it turns out they're really dangerous, they get their gun rights revoked. They'd basically become someone else's responsibility, much like a child in many regards. It's not an easy thing to do, but these are people's rights we're talking about here. It shouldn't be easy. Red flag laws skip this due process entirely and just take the guns based on one party's word that they seem dangerous. The problem is that the aforementioned method, we always had put someone in charge of keeping that person out of trouble. Red flag laws don't. They just treat the gun as the source of all problems. And I'm more than sick of stories about how the problem is that it's just not implemented more. 16. This is eye-opening. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You Won't Believe Why Johns Hopkins is Cutting 2000 Employees [...] What I couldn't have told you is that the cuts to USAID would be the reason they would choose to do so. Who knew that hundreds of millions of tax dollars a year are poured into just one of an uncounted number of universities from what most people think of as our foreign aid budget? 17. Money talks, or the threat of losing it does. Regardless, how many people were sanctioned in total? What was the breakdown of sanction type? How many were expelled out of that total? And what's the point of "temporarily suspending" someone's degree? For how long, and for how many people? The university needs to come clean. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Columbia Finally Announces Disciplinary Action Against Pro-Hamas Agitators Columbia University and its sister school of Barnard College have been in the news quite a bit lately. The Trump administration is looking to deport Mahmoud Khalil, a Syrian-born pro-Hamas agitator, who was involved in various activities at Columbia and Barnard. Khalil led encampments at Columbia and participated in takeovers at Barnard, with his involvement at the latter school coming after he had already graduated. The Trump administration also announced last Friday that they were canceling $400 million in grants for Columbia. Now, the university is announcing some pretty strong disciplinarian actions against the agitators. A campus wide alert was sent out on Thursday, according to ABC News, detailing how students could face suspensions, expulsions, and even revoked degrees: [...] https://townhall.com/tipsheet/rebeccadowns/2025/03/13/columbia-finally-announces-disciplinary-action-n2653800
  18. Got another one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Homeland Security Arrests Another Pro-Hamas Protester, Who's Next? Federal agents have arrested another immigrant who participated in anti-Israel protests at Columbia University. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday announced that Leqaa Kordia, a Palestinian from the West Bank, was arrested for overstaying her F-1 student visa. The student's visa expired on January 26, 2022, "for lack of attendance," according to a DHS press release. DHS also noted that Indian national Ranjani Srinivasan chose to self-deport after being "involved in activities supporting [Hamas], a terrorist organization." The State Department revoked her visa. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem explained: [...] https://townhall.com/tipsheet/jeff-charles/2025/03/14/homeland-security-arrests-another-anti-israel-columbia-university-protester-n2653839

  20. A commenter on one of the autopen articles says this: "The design of the autopen is such that there is a counter like a car odometer that counts up each time the autopen is used. It is much more tamper-resistant / evident than a car odometer. Pretty much the same precautions used for Top Secret keymat. There is supposed to be a log kept of each use of the autopen. The log should be compared to the counter to make sure all uses were properly logged. If the audit turns up discrepancies then a manual review of all documents signed by Biden should be initiated. The autopen signatures will all be identical. Ones he actually signed will show differences from signature to signature especially with his advanced age. Definitely a painstaking process but due to the gravity of his signature, all documents he signed should be examined." I agree with the above; you?
  21. This is really, really big, but how to pursue it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Explosive Update to Biden Autopen Scandal Reveals Unelected Staffer's Role As PJ Media previously reported, a bombshell investigation by the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project revealed that nearly every document during Biden's presidency was signed by autopen, with only one authentic signature confirmed — his letter announcing withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. The presidential autopen has been in use since the 1950s, which has sparked ongoing debate over its legality. In 2013, Barack Obama became the first president to use it to sign a bill into law while vacationing in Hawaii. His office justified the move with a 30-page memo from George W. Bush's legal team, which argued that a president's physical presence wasn't necessary as long as the signature was authorized. But Joe Biden's cognitive decline raised legitimate questions as to whether he was aware of official documents being signed on his behalf, or if they were even authorized. Speaker Mike Johnson previously revealed that Biden couldn't even recall signing an LNG exports executive order, raising serious questions about whether someone was signing documents with the autopen without Biden's authorization. According to an explosive report from the New York Post, a senior Biden aide may have been wielding presidential power through liberal use of the autopen and essentially acting as a shadow president. One White House source painted a chilling picture: [...] https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/03/14/explosive-update-to-biden-autopen-scandal-reveals-unelected-staffers-role-n4937922
