Lack of interest perhaps. How many women have actually ran for president versus the number of men? How many women are interested in and work towards becoming a CEO versus men that are interested and work towards it?

The only way you can reasonably argue that the amount of women CEOs and men CEOs and women presidents and men presidents should be equal is if the level of interest is equal among men and women.

When you try to tell me " the only way you can reasonably argue" , you meant "the only way I can reasonably argue"

I don't need you to tell me what I think , I need to understand why you believe women collectively as a group are not interested in leadership roles.  I suppose you would say women are earning 82cents on the dollar for the same work because they have "no interest" but I should let you say it in your own words..

I don't buy that for one second. If there was a woman running on a platform of fiscal responsibility and personal liberty I would vote for her in a heart beat. So far the only woman who we have had the chance to vote for is Hillary. Not exactly the best or brightest woman out there. By the way I don't fit the stereotype you are trying to paint here of a man who wants all women to be weak and submissive. In fact I like the opposite. I like a strong woman who can get things done and that is the only type of woman I would want running our country. A weak president is good for no one. I mean look at the current pathetic excuse of a leader as an example.

I feel threatened by the fact that she is one step away from holding the nuclear football (though honestly I would feel slightly better with her holding it than Brandon). And that isn't because she is a woman. That is because she is utterly incompetent.

And your explanation as to why we don't have a woman president and so few women CEOs is...?

Um, the problem with that opinion piece (yes, it's an opinion piece) is that it conveniently ignores that the middle class tax cuts expire in 2025 while the ones for corporations and many of the loopholes for high earners/high net worth individuals do not. Many middle class people will be facing a wallop when they expire 4 years from now.

Why are we talking about the tax plan when this is a topic about the Pfizer vaccine?

Because, we already established the safety, efficacy and necessity of the vaccine (evidence the lack of meaningful rebuttal) and we are on to playtime. You said if we finished our work....

My knowledge differs from yours, but then again I don’t known what vague phrases like   “very few” mean

Started off as a Unix kernel developer in 1985. Retired in 2021. Teamblind, levels.fyi are pretty accurate. They show average numbers. Some people aren’t average.  Anyone who can finish med / law school and pass residency / bar isn’t average. Software is  just code.

I was once at a going away dinner for a coworker. At the dinner former coworkers from a company we both worked at were also there.  One of whom asserted that jobs in the valley earning $400K total compensation (TC) didn’t really exist and he interviewed outside to prove it.  I held my tongue as I knew the young lady going away with 5 years less experience was heading to a new job earning $600K total compensation.

The high pay is there, but you have get the interview (she knew someone) and you have to prepare (which she did, bugging me every day for a month for a new algorithm or design problem to solve).

So is your advice to forgo University for the one in 1000 in terms of capabilities and desire to work around the clock, or for "average" college bound high-school grad?  I could make the same argument for a somewhat gifted athlete or musician

The only ones I know making close to 300k in Seattle, (salary and bonus exclude RSU ) are Service Design Engineers and some TPMs. Straight coders, out of high-school? not that I have heard. Maybe the bay area is way higher than Seattle.

Wales was born in Huntsville, Alabama, where he attended Randolph School, a university-preparatory school.[8][9][10] He earned bachelor's and master'sdegrees in finance from Auburn University and the University of Alabama respectively.[9] In graduate school, Wales taught at two universities; however, he departed before completing a PhD to take a job in finance and later worked as the research director of a Chicago futuresand options firm.

In 1996, Wales and two partners founded Bomis, a web portalprimarily known for featuring adult content. Bomis provided the initial funding for the free peer-reviewed encyclopedia, Nupedia (2000–2003). On January 15, 2001, with Larry Sanger and others, Wales launched Wikipedia, a free open-content encyclopedia that enjoyed rapid growth and popularity.

These income figures need to deduct the cost of education to earn those degrees.  And not just the tuition, room, and board, but the interest paid on the loans, and the opportunity cost that the loan payments imposed.

Financially higher education doesn’t make senses. I believe  highly degreed workers with high debts become highly embittered and blame Reagan and Trump for their bad decisions.

Financially becoming a medical doctor doesn’t work out for most.  Instead they could have gone to school for 2 years in a CC, 2 years in a state “directional” university, earned a computer science degree and cranked out code at Google or Amazon for $500,000 a year and no debt.

I know IT, and I know very few coders making 500k, even when factoring in stocks options with startups.  Certain skills in AI and data science are hot now, but those are advanced degree or a bs with years of experience. I am not sure where you get your data from, you must not work in IT.

There actually was a spike in suicides in 2020. Probably as a result of people losing their jobs and other negative effects of the lockdowns.

Where is the data that shows 2020 is higher than previous years?

Suicide rates declined again in 2020, but not for all groups, CDC report shows

Preliminary data reveals increases in the number of suicides among young adults, as well as some people of color.

This is the latest data from the CDC as of this morning.  In general, the data lags the actual date by several weeks which shows up in the last three or four data point which is why I go back to the data every 5-10 weeks and update the graph.  It is clear the pandemic has caused excess deaths as compared to the average of the pre-pandemic years.  I am only graphing the total of all deaths and not breaking out the pneumonia, flu and Covid deaths as we know the reporting requirements for those are not very clear.  What the raw data does not address is the number of people that are dying due to things like suicide, or other medical conditions that may have been treatable if caught earlier.

If I look at your data, there are few  deaths the last two weeks. Maybe your graph should exclude partially reported weeks.

I am not as interested in education level as I am the performance of public schools in a given area. I am willing to bet the lowest ranking cities as far as public education goes are mostly blue cities. There are people that only have high school diplomas that make 6 figures and people with advanced degrees that cant even get a job at McDonald's. So education level doesn't mean a whole lot these days. However it does matter if you graduate high school or not.

"If Donald Trump can't satisfy his wife, what makes him think he can satisfy America?"

"If he were a woman, I don't think he'd get five percent of the vote."

     "Such a nasty man"

"He's a crazed, crying lowlife" and a "dog."

""All of the men at work

flirted with me — consciously or unconsciously. That's to be expected."

"“Do you believe in punishment for abortion – yes or no – as a principle?”

“The answer is there has to be some form of punishment.”

    “For the men?”

“Yeah, there has to be some form.”"

and yet these quotes received little criticism from Trump fans and Republicans, even Republicans who are appalled are silent.

The point is to succeed, women need to be twice as smart but not make men feel threatened,  twice as kind and tolerant but twice as tough and hard nosed, work twice as hard, but stay home and raise children, take no prisoners but defer to the real leaders in the room (the men). Any deviation  from this impossible model will shake many men and some women to their core.  Some in our society are just not ready for a woman leader.

Edit okay  honest to Pete, I was being sarcastic not knowing how Putin was gonna spin this, And then I read..

"The concern about Mr. Putin’s intentions has been fueled by what U.S. officials call an increase in Russian media disinformation describing NATO and Ukraine as threats to Russia, potentially to create a pretext for a Russian escalation. The administration official said that Russian officials had also proposed information operations within Ukraine portraying that country’s leaders as Western puppets acting against their country’s interests."

More importantly,  is the MDL such a weak force that @Nature Boy 2.0 is obligated to post wapo and NYT sources?

The simple fact is that governments and particularly Democrat controlled governments are all about consolidating power over the population, and this is the best opportunity.

And this surfaced in the Trump admistration why?

    Quote

Added to that, you have the powerful bureaucrats that also like to have power.  As to Fauci, he is certainly taking advantage of his actions from a power standpoint, did he purposefully create it, maybe not, but his reckless actions and financing appear to be the most likely cause of this and he is in full CYA mode because of it.

You have no evidence to support that fantasy.

Governments may not be inherently malicious, but they are not acting in the best interest of the population they supposedly represent.

If a government coordinated shutting down the economy and life as we know it in an unnecessary and naked grab of power, not only is that malicious,  but people should go to jail. The fact is it is a bad scenario and folks are doing the best they can at all levels of government.

As to the CDC, or the FDA, whatever, they do what they do and issue their decrees that we are all supposed to follow,

OK then the vaccines must be necessary and ready or the FDA is criminally negligent, which is exactly what the conspiracy theorists are pushing.

Either I trust the folks to approved my BP meds, and dozens of other vaccines are not valid as well. It is a binary question.

They should not be hiding information from the public all in the name of the "public good".  There should be term limits not only on elected folks in DC, but also bureaucrats.

Who is  they Walensky? She just got here. How short of a term do you want in an national emergency?  Where do you have a pool of multidisciplinary public health officials waiting to take on these tremendous tasks? This isn't like term limits for for a congressional rep or parks and rec board, it takes serious chops to do these jobs.

Yeah, the whole mask as a filter debate again.  I know you are a filtration expert, so I will defer to you, but sure, if you are sick, wear a mask, let the person decide, but I realize you believe only people of a certain political elite level can make that decision for themselves, all others must have the decision made for them.  I do love all the hypocritical examples of the political elite shunning mask mandates because they of course are our betters.  I also love the fact that masks are so important to wear inside, or in a crowd but when one is eating, drinking or staging some sort of social justice protest/riot, apparently the virus does not transmit at that point.

Ok don't wear a mask, but don't come to my place of business and cough. Suit yourself. I am likely to die of toxic CO2 poisoning at any rate

I am saying that tests are as good as the conditions at the time the sample was taken.

What? I drive through the test facilities and they stuck a q tip up my nose and they put it in a jar and 24 hours later the lab sends me an email, so far 5/5 negative. I have no idea what they do, just like I have no idea how Popeyes makes those delicious chicken sandwiches ( two blocks down from the test facility,  no need to bring this up with Mrs CRT) Do you think maybe I had a false negative?

    Quote

I am not really concerned about anyone else as I have taken my own precautions and I don't think my views should be mandated on anyone else.  As to a concern of visitors or immigrants or returning USCs/LPRs are bringing over the virus or a new variant, why is the Southern Border still open?

Is it? Last I looked we have customs and border crossing.  Are people still getting in after Trump had Mexico pay for that tremendous wall?

    Quote

I certainly do not go to the likes of CNN, WaPo, NYTimes for news.  I have seen the false narratives they have pushed all in the name of better "progressive" (actually regressive) politics.  Covid has been turned into a huge political football, and the regular MSM outlets along with the Leftist social media sites are a lot of that cause.

Then why do I see the misinformation coming from Gateway Pundit,  Fox News in the evening, Newsmax, Infowars. I don’t even watch those channels and the junk gets posted here every day. All conspiracy theories aligned with the wackadoodle views I outlined above are coming from those sources. Why? I have no idea what they have to gain, but their actions are putting millions into harms way.

Does CNN and the NYT pander a bit to their demographic?probably Do they make up crazy conspiracy theories that will wind up getting folks infected or worse? Not that I have seen.

    Quote

There are a lot of expert views that have been silenced over this entire thing, and we only get the Party narrative.

Tell me which experts have been silenced. Rand Paul? That my pillow guy? The TV evangelists selling vitamins. I am not a physician or medical researcher, but I will look at whatever you bring that supports the view that the vaccine is dangerous and read it with an open mind.

Haughty ‘racial equity committee’ member harasses, doxxes parents who sued school over masks

A sitting member of the Fort Worth Texas school board’s Racial Equity Committee has doxxed parents by publishing their names and phone numbers on social media.

“She doxxed us. … She said, ‘Internet do your thing.’ I got 17 voicemails at my work from one person,” Kerri Rehmeyer, a Fort Worth mother who sued the school district to block a mask mandate, told Fox News. The misanthrope she was referring to is one Norma Garcia-Lopez, the co-chair of the Racial Equity Committee at Fort Worth Independent School District.
