  1. Has anyone ever had to say at the consulate that they were denied entry to the US, and will that mean you will not be approved?

During the whole Covid mess I visited my husband in Canada and then he was denied entry at the land border at one point for a visit because of Covid. We did not realize at the time he could have flown, just not drive over.

They did not get him out of his truck or inspect the vehicle or search his things. He had the appropriate paperwork that you take to visit that lawyers recommend you have to show ties and intention to visit and go back. He was simply turned back because of Covid restrictions.

He, of course, will not lie if they ask if he was denied entry, and he will tell them that although they didn’t interview him or state they felt he was crossing with bad intent, he did try to visit and couldnt.

This process has just been so long and I think that now that it is becoming real I am so scared of the worst happening. We, of course, would not have tried to do anything to mess this up!

I passed out receiving one of the Hep vaccines last year so now I just do vaccines and blood draws laying down, this has helped me it might be worth trying with your daughter.

Yes this last time she had one at the pharmacy they had her lay down and they put a cold cloth on her head. She still panicked and fainted. Im sure it is better but seems every time she has to have something done she gets worse with panic. I think all she needs is Hep A but them will have to go over for blood draw, too. We are so glad to be this close and her anxiety and depression has been worse with pandemic and waiting to immigrate so its just hard knowing she has to go through this, too.

I have a history of fainting as well when giving blood and have fainted occasionally with vaccines.  When I did the blood work at LifeLabs I had them draw my blood in a private room with me laying down.  They were accommodating, I was just upfront about it and asked to have the blood drawn laying down.  I find looking away helps my needle anxiety.  I know its odd I love tattoos but hate getting needles go figure.

I had updated all my vaccines before going as they were covered by Alberta Health Care and saved me having to pay at Dr. Cheema's office.

I am glad that they were accommodating like that! As far as we  could tell and the pharmacy could tell she has had all vaccinations she would need except Hepatitis. The pharmacy said theirs is like a set so many months apart so they didnt start it because they werent sure how Dr. Cheema would want it done. So Im worried if she faints and panics so easy and will have to have a Hep vaccine then to get blood drawn in another lab he will be having to carry this poor child around unconscious! This is a new development. She passed out after an injection at school and that made her fear injections so when they went to pharmacy it was horrible panic and fainting!
Hopefully theyll be patient with her and get her through it.

I just had my exam last week, will post full review later. I went to Dr Cheema's office first and there he gave me shots for TTP, MMR and Flu shot. They asked me to sit in the reception for atleast 15 - 20 min to observe if there are any side effects and I believe they have staff there to deal with if something goes wrong and to take care until the ambulance arrives. But I had no side effects and went to life labs which is around 15 minutes drives on the same avenue. There the lady took out a blood sample which in my opinion was a bit painful and still have a rash on my arm from that. After that I drove to the X-Ray place where basically I had to take my shirt off and hug the machine to get my chest scan. Good thing is Dr Cheema's office will make reservations for you at the Lifelabs and the X-Ray place.

My left arm was sore for couple of days from the blood draw but in all I had no complications from the vaccines. I hope this helps!

    Thank you!

  5. This may seem like a crazy question but can anyone share experiences at Dr. Cheema’s and doing lab work?
my stepdaughter is 14 and recently had to have vaccinations and both times she fainted. The last time she started to visibly panic and my husband said it took the woman at the pharmacy about 15 minutes to calm her- they put a cold towel on her head, etc.

They have med exams coming up and we are a little worried about how awful her anxiety is going to be and how rushed things are. That and just her not knowing what to expect. Anything helps so that maybe it is less unknown for her and then I am just hopeful that they have good bedside manner, haha. Because she may have a panic attack faint in their office.

    APPROVED

I got back to my room and collapsed to my knees and just sobbed for 5 minutes, like I'm a big emotional dude but didn't realize how much tension needed to come out haha.  Messaged my wife with the "Welcome to the United States of America" letter and she called and we talked and laughed and cried for 20 minutes.

Usual process that everyone here mentions: clock's broken, room is super quiet and dull, staff are totally nice.  Passport taken, wait 45+ minutes, documents taken, wait maybe 15 minutes, then interview.  I was asked about how we met which ended up being a rambling tale as it usually is, and about what wife does for work.  Fingerprints taken, handed over most recent pay stub and tax return from my wife, and then she said congratulations there's no problems here and that was it.  I'm having problems believing it was only really two questions but I guess we talked about stuff based on the questions so I probably answered stuff indirectly.

I was able to change my flight just to leaving at 16:00 today so quickest cross-country trip ever.

    YAY SO HAPPY EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

HR I love you, I'll update my timeline shortly.  Wife and I figured out yesterday that today is DAY NINE HUNDRED of our process.  900 days since we mailed the original petition.  And it's done, my God it's finally done, I'm going to cry again, thanks VJ, you guys have been great and I'll be sticking around for some time for support and stuff.  Sorry to the one person I randomly got cross at that one time, that's not me normally and I still feel bad for that.  Thank you all for direct support and for your stories and data and everything else.

Im crying!!!! Happy for you, beautiful post! Congrats!

I was just going through the same list, and I don't think we need an original, or a copy of the petitioners birth certificate.

The pre-interview checklist says "Your original birth certificate and that of your petitioner if applicable, English translation, and a photocopy." I think you only need it if it was requested specifically.

There is this old thread as well:

But I would also feel better hearing from others as well.

Yes. Id rather chance mailing all my originals than to chance they ask for something and he doesnt have it and then we get denied or have to wait longer!

    Thanks for your reply!

  8. This may have been answered somewhere else and we have read the website but just wondering other peoples’ experiences.

We were looking at what my husband has to take to his appointment at the consulate and it says he needs the originals of anything he had to submit and also asks for our original marriage certificate and my birth certificate.

I will have to mail my birth certificate to him, I sent our original marriage certificate before but I guess I wasnt thinking theyd want more than a photocopy of my birth certificate.

Anything else I would have here in the US I should send him the original of that isnt on that list? Does he need to take photocopies of my paperwork I sent on my end like my passport or license or the property card, or proof that my previous husband passed away?

I guess its just getting close and is so unreal, I expect us to read over something and mess things up. Super paranoid!

Thanks in advance for helping with my anxiety questions.

I had my medical today with Dr Cheema in Surrey. Things went smooth, nice safe office, and the doctor was really good. I have a medical history 😛 so it took a little while extra, but not too long.

Important note about the blood test at LifeLabs: there are signs at the lab saying that they're appointment-only now. If you're booking a medical with Dr Cheema you'll definitely want to go to LifeLabs' site and schedule an appointment for 1.5-2 hours after your exam. I had already scheduled mine for 2 hours after my exam so I was totally OK.

X-Ray place isn't really obvious from the street so rely on a map app. You have to park behind the building -- it says it's pay parking, but the machine gives you an option for "1 HOUR - FREE". X-ray place was fun fast and easy. Well, fast and easy.

Now it's hoping my results make it to Montreal by next Wednesday. I would have booked the medical earlier but I was in the US when I got my IL, then stayed 2 more days for my stepson's birthday, then quarantine until yesterday.

Do you also need to schedule the Xray in advance or is it even possible? Thanks for posting this info!

Thanks for the clarification; the apparent outlier *was* confusing.

Yes, it was very weird. They assured me twice that the “glitch” did not move our date.
Then recently were like nope it moved your date and we cant correct it back to the July date. So in the back of my mind I hoped this would happen and they’d be wrong but didn’t think it would actually happen, thought it was just wishful thinking!

    Kayleigh11 apparently changed their username.

I think they went off our original DQ date of July 8. Im not sure if you want to change it on the spreadsheet. They had told me Aug 19 was what we got changed to because they asked for another document and said there was a “glitch” but I think they must have been wrong when I spoke to them.
I just worry now it will confuse and dishearten people to think our case somehow went through earlier!

Well that's awesome things are moving and you got a decent notice to your interview date!  Now I'm excited it won't be long for my case!  Waiting has been the hardest part.

I know! It is awful! Especially when we were all waiting with no clue as to when it would move again. I am excited to see how far they got through the dates and if they got far enough you may be posting like me by next month!!

Good luck to you and your family! ❤️

I was DQ Aug 14th and didn't receive a interview.   We're you expedited? What visa catagory?

We had an original DQ of July 8 but then needed us to resubmit one document. Then we got another DQ letter for August 19.
The last person I talked to at NVC said theyd go off the August date but before they had said the additional document wouldnt change it. I was going off what I was told last of my DQ date but Im assuming that she gave me wrong information and they actually went off the first DQ date I was sent. It was all confusing!

I know they expire after 1 year, I have the old style but it hasn't passed the 1 year mark yet so wondering also if that would be accepted or if the new one should be acquired regardless.

Same with us. I think ours expires in May and we could possibly, HOPEFULLY interview in April- so I am unsure if we should go ahead and renew or wait and see it we get lucky!

    Hello Everyone

New month and hopefully we get some more good news with IL's. Just wondering I have a Police certificate from Canada which says Privacy Act Request Type: Other which was accepted by NVC and I believe the new terminology is Criminal Check for Personal Use. Should I get the certificate changed or leave it as it is. Let me know if someone has any experience with using the police certificate with old terminology. Thank you!

I wonder the same thing, I don’t know if it has to be the new terminology on one if the old one expired or if people have to go get the new one even if their old one is still good. Hopefully, someone does know!

Regarding the "Montreal IR-1/CR-1 Visa Data from visajourney.com" spreadsheet, directions are clearly stated on pages within the workbook:

EDITS ONLY BY DOCUMENT OWNER; UPDATE YOUR VJ TIMELINE THEN SEND A VJ MESSAGE TO BE INCLUDED!

    DO NOT REQUEST DOCUMENT ACCESS

    JOIN VISAJOURNEY.COM & MESSAGE @Hawk Riders

    Cheers.

Oops. Did not see that. I have creeped on this page for a while but still figuring out how to navigate it, lol.
