  1. Hello Everyone! I'm back with more questions B)

I'm trying to calculate my budget for all of this and I was wondering do I need to be present for my fiance's interview?? or is it only him?

I strongly suggest that you attend your fiance's interview. When the petitioner is present, it makes all the difference. I attended my husband's interview. Had I not been there, I could see the CO giving him a hard time.

  2. Good afternoon everybody. My fiancé had the interview this morning. They told him to go back tomorrow to get the visa. We are so happy. We want to say thanks to all the people at VJ. Thanks for your support. God bless this site and the persons on it. Thanks a lot. I will keep you posted later with all the details from the interview. Right now I don’t have any more information. Love is powerful, love is strong. Good luck to all of you.

Now we have to face the second part, the carta blanca. But lets enjoy this partial victory. Thanks again de todo corazon.

    Eduardo y Yala

    Congratulations!

  3. I downloaded the forms and things I need prior to my husband's interview when that may ever happen and on the list is an "original birth certificate" is it requesting mine or his (beneficiary)????

    Thanks in advance.

    Rajaa

    Rajaa,

We brought both birth certificates to the interview (hubby & mine as the US petitioner). It is better to be safe than sorry.

    Take care,

    Mrs. Scott

  4. Hello All,

I am so much happy..:dance::dance: Called my husband and told him first.. He is also so much happy..

Thank You to all VJ members and visitors :star:(F) for all your support and well wishes.. I am sure i will need all that until my husband receives the visa on hand..

Again, Thank you so much.. and i am very much happy.:dance: I cann't express the happiness and excitment that i am having right now while posting this... No words at all..

    Bani :star:

    Bani,

It is so refreshing to have an interview date. I'm happy for you both.

  5. Please do not feel any way about not changing your last name. It is your choice. As long as your fiance is cool with the idea, I think that's fine. I don't know you, but it seems like you are very organized. In the event that you have an AOS interview, continue to keep your files in order. I'm sure the SO from Kingston placed a note on your file. It reads, "Nuh ramp wid that one!"

  6. Thanks Nish and Gill,

The funny thing was that I was dialing the embassy when the e-mail flashed on my computer screen. lol I hope I get a Sept interview date. I hope Ray can enjoy some warm weather when he comes. lol Thanks again because I don't know what I would do without my yardie folks.

I have a copy of the Packet 3. As Gill mentioned, the main form that you need to complete is the DS-230. The other papers are for informational purposes. If you're interested, I can fax you the Packet 3. Just PM your fax number. Our Packet 3 never arrived, we had to pick it up in person.

  7. My wife has met a few people who didn't pass their interview, but they would not tell her of the reasons. I'm just curious as to what some of you think could be reasons for a denial? (We're just trying to prepare as best as we can.)

Also, is it more difficult to pass the K-3 interview than a CR-1 interview? Does it matter which?

There are several reasons for a denial including criminal record, positive HIV test, and having multiple petitions filed on one's behalf. The Embassy has to be convinced that the couple is in a bonafide relationship. There are many instances in which people are paid to obtain visas. If you have proof (boarding passes, plane ticket receipts, phone records, e-mails, pictures) of a relationship, I would not worry. Just be honest with your significant other, so that there are no surprises.

  8. Congratulations on your marriage. I made a copy of the marriage register when I filed. However, the RGD is responsible for giving you a marriage license with a seal. It is on purplish paper. Perhaps you can request that the license gets expedited,

The Embassy wants to see that this not a paper marriage. Gather every thing (significant & insignificant). Keep airline tickets, boarding passes, hotel receipts, formal wedding & informal pictures, Western Union/Moneygram receipts, phone records, etc. Start placing the proof in chronological order in a binder.

  9. Howdy.

Almost just got back from the embassy. What a joke. There was no suspense, no grilling, almost like no interview. It felt to me that any questions she asked were literally just to keep me occupied while she did the paperwork. ugh. All that stressing and fretting for this?

Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic. But it seems so anti-climatic, I am still expecting something to go wrong.

In any case, here's my story:

Simply, there are 3 windows. They take your paperwork at the first one. I got a very sullen woman who looked like she would rather spit at me than process my paper. I ignored her and just handed her the sheaf of papers. It wasn't until WAY afterward that I realized I had forgotten to hand her my "proof".

The second window is where they take your fingerprints. Easy as pie, no issues.

The third one is the real deal. For me, it was almost too easy. She was canceling my visitor's visa before she had even sworn me in. She asked some lop-sided questions like why the fiance wasn't with me, if we had a date, if I'd had any trouble with the police or my health, if I'd had my prints taken .... seriously, it did indeed seem like she was just passing the time. Turns out I didn't need to hand any proof at all! CO said "Ack, nah. I believe ya." - just like that.

It seems to me that this process is designed for those who would attempt to defraud and deceive. Once you're honest and frank, there's nothing to worry about.

Then again, I could just be one of the lucky ones.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting .... I hope your experience was as uneventful as my own.

  10. Yardie Crew,

I have decided to refrain from participating on this thread. While I received support during the visa process, I feel like many cliques have been formed. I realize that I am not on the board every day; however, I am a human being who has feelings. It is rude to be ignored. If my comments do not apply to you- please disregard. I only seem to get responses when "drama" arises. That's my take on things.

    Regards,

    Mrs. Scott

  12. When I already sent them two years of income tax returns.

    Panamania,

The Embassy asks for the same documents over and over again. If you can accompany your fiance that would be great. Here's my check list. Be sure to bring the following to the interview-

Check List for Kevin and Kelia

    DS-156 (2 copies)

    Kevin’s passport

    Kevin’s passport pictures (2)

    Kevin’s medical exam

    Kevin’s birth certificate

    Kevin & Kelia’s marriage certificate

    Kevin’s police certificate

    I-134 (Affidavit of Support)

    bank statements

    pay stubs

Visa Receipt ($100 US) I think the fee has increased to $131. Check your Packet 3 for more information.

    DS-3052 Non-Immigrant V Visa Application

Proof of a relationship (e.g. photos, boarding passes, hotel receipts, e-mails, etc).

DS-230 (In Jamaica, they asked for it at the interview. I have no idea why. We had already submitted it to the interview. I had another copy any way.

    Bring copies of your NOA-1 & NOA-2. I h

Be overprepared. Don't give the Embajada any reason to ask you to return.

    Happy Easter!

    Cuidate,

    Kelia

  13. Does anyone know for example is you received packet 4 will they also assign an interview day along with that? To my understand packet 4 is the medical papers correct? Can you hand in packet 4 at the embassy? Also once you hand in packet 4 will they assign an interveiw day along with that? Any info is greatly appreciated. I am getting anty waiting for an interview day.

    Thank you

Once the Embassy receives the DS-230, the interview is scheduled. Packet 4 is simply a confirmation letter stating interview appointment date and time.

  14. Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum. I just have a few questions.

    1) I know timelines are not always predictable but can anyone give me an estimate: I'm pregnant and would like to apply for my fiancee so that he may be here when I give birth, due date is in October. What are the chances he'll be here by then or soon after if I file ASAP? PS: He is in Jamaica and I am in NY.

    2) I am an attorney and I'm capable of filling out the forms myself but simply do not have the time right now.. I'm swamped but I know the forms need to go out soon. How reliable are some of these sites that offer services to take care of the process, especifically I was considering http://www.fianceevisas.net/

    anybody use them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Michelle

    Michelle,

I'm not sure if you have already filed. Make VJ your best friend. I have seen K-1's processed in as little as 4 months, and as long as months. Since your baby is due in October, you may want to file as soon as possible.

    Good luck!
