  1. Ladies;

Marcel and I thank you for the prayers and the support.

    One Love

    Nov

    Lawny,

You are really going through tough times. It seems like all hell is breaking loose. Drama at work, ex acting up & now your mother-in-law's death. Know that we are here for you. On May 20th, I had a miscarriage. I bled every day for two weeks. After the second emergency room visit, June 3rd- I was admitted. My father passed away on June 28th. His ###### of a wife never told my sister & I that my Dad was dying. I spoke to my father less than a week before he died. He said that he felt fine. I know what it feels like to lose a parent. I tried to keep active thinking that my grief would go away.

Allow your husband to have his time. If he doesn't want to talk, allow him space. With all that you guys have been through, this has to be FOREVER. Since funerals don't occur as quickly as it does in America, I feel like you have time to get Marcel's AP expedited. Please let me know if there is any thing that I can do to help.

    Take care,

    Kelia

  2. Mi cyaan sleep and dere's noone here fi chat...wha mi ago do?:wacko: I'm sitting here trying 2 decide on what 2 do for our 1st anniversary. I talked to my husband 2day and he doesn't care what we do as long as it doesn't involve us being bothered by friends and family. Although I'm not all that crazy about Mobay I was thinking of just hiding out there for a few days. I was looking at some of the hotels there. Any suggestions? I was considering El Greco, but I don't know anything about it. The only other place we've stayed in is Toby's, but we can't cook there, and I'm looking for a place that less touristy where we can cook...God willing we will be spending our next annivesary stateside

My husband and I have stayed at El Greco many times. It is not upscale, but all rooms have kitchens. The hotel is adjacent to a tunnel that connects to the Hip Strip. All guests get free breakfast (Jamaican or American) as well as passes to Doctor's Cave Beach. If you decide to stay there, have your husband make the reservation in his name. As long as he has Jamaican ID, the hotel will give him a local rate. Otherwise, tourists are charged more. El Greco also has a small pool if you don't feel like leaving the compound. Let me know if you have any more questions.

  3. As you know...I'm a single mommy so I don't party as much as I would like to here in the States. The few times that I have really ventured out to catch some dancehall vibes have all been dead, and each time I vowed to stop wasting my time until I reach yaad.

I don't want to take Dwane and Wakey to any ole spot for his first night out and about. What nights did your husband or SO like for the Dancehall/Reggae clubs here? What clubs should we avoid?

    Thanks for all your help.

    Jawi,

I don't like to refer my peeps to spots that I've never visited. However, there is First Fridays at Seasons (Tucker, GA). Here is the link-

My husband said that Bass Odyssey is a good sound. He said that Dwane should be familiar with them. It is free tomorrow before 11:30. Check out the flyer to see where to RSVP. I've visited Club 426 in Stone Mountain (Memorial Drive) on Friday & Saturday. It was sort of empty on Friday, but dem play some nice tune! Saturday night was filled with the Virgin Island Massive.

If you guys don't go out tomorrow, then definitely check out Club 426 or Aquarium. Both clubs are in the same plaza. There are drink specials at Aquarium. See link.

    http://caribbeanvibes.com/flyer.php?id=1589

Special on rum & coke, beer & LI Iced Tea.

Text or call me to let me know the movements. Maybe Kevin & I can meet you there.

    Later,

    Kelia

  4. Hi, how do you get a SSN after you have your K3 visa? The guide says you have to have a approved EAD before they will grant you a SSN? That could take months! How do I get my spouse health insurance in the US till then without a SSN? Please advise if you have already gone through this. Thanks

Your spouse must have an EAD (work permit) before becoming eligible for a SSN. My husband receive an EAD in 2 months. I added him to my health insurance w/o his SSN. My employer requires that any changes to the plan occur within 30 days of a life change (marriage, birth of a child, etc).

  5. my wife and her son will be having there k3/k4 interview some time in September and i wanted to know if she has to pay any money for the visa or any thing else

thanks i really appreciate your post

My husband had a K-3 interview (November 2007). Your wife has to pay $131 USD per visa to Paymaster. In addition, both your wife and step-son have to take a medical exam. Depending on the doctor, the fees range from $80 to $95. See link.

    http://kingston.usembassy.gov/medicalexams.html

Has your wife received an official interview letter? It is called Packet 4.

After visa approval, there is a small fee to pay the courier AirPak. Read my Embassy review.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

  6. I told my MOL about all the bills that had to be paid. She doesn't seem to get it. She has not asked for any favors in a few months. Then, all of a sudden she needs money & right away. I swear I'm gonna change the friggin number. Money doesn't grow on trees. Has she considered all the funds spent on the immigration process? I really like her & I don't want to be disrespectful. When I told her that I don't have it, her reply was to ask my husband. She has a lot of nerve. Other than NO, what is the politically correct way to get my point across to her?

  7. Island Woman,

No worries about the NOA2 expiration date. My NOA had already expired by the interview. It's all good!

    Wakey,

I wish you all the best. Tell Dwayne, Bienvenidos a los estados unidos (Welcome to the US).

    Lawny,

Tell the stalker to suck her Muma! She too outa orda!

    Gill,

That friend of yours seems like a Drama Queen. She needs to handle her business. People would kill to have an interview date. She has the audacity to try to change things.

    Jawi,

When are we gonna hang out again? I miss ya!

    Other Yardie Members,

I'm tired of receiving Begging Billy phone calls. We can not afford to send money any time some family member has an issue. It has to STOP!

  8. Hi Mrs. Scott

My husband resigned from his job because he was preparing to go to the Philippines, that's why he didn't file his taxes for 2007. do you think that would be a problem? what do u think of my husband just starting on his new job? I heard that USEm does not accept co-sponsors for k3.

thanks dora2x for the support. =)

I think that you should be fine. I just read this information from the US Embassy (Manila) link. It reads that it should be 1 year of returns. Here is the link-

    http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3219.html

    Scroll to the I-864 Section.

My advice is to wait for the SO to request the information at the interview. In Jamaica, some petitioners were asked for information such as paystubs & others were not. To be on the safe side, post your question in the General Discussion Area (Philippines).

  9. Hi VJ members! I'm preparing for my k3 interview and I'm really nervous that I might've missed out on something. please provide your two cents worth on the complete list of documents that i'll be bringing to my interview. Btw, the reason why I'm adding proof of identity is because according to SLEC, lack of proof of identity for both petitioner and beneficiary is the number one reason for visa denial (aside from lack of proof of relationship of course). Also, what do u guys think of my hubby just starting on his new job 3 weeks ago? His salary is above the poverty guideline but I'm just wondering if the fact that he just started on his new job would serve as a deterrent to visa issuance (he has a certificate of no file for 2007 from the IRS).

    beneficiary's proof of identity:

    school IDs

    yearbook (HS)

    college transcript

    petitioner's proof of identity:

    expired california driver's license

photocopy of biographic page of passport

    photocopy of proof of naturalization

    birth certificate

    affidavit of support:

letter of employment including salary/hour and date started

    most recent paystub

letter of explanation (that he just recently started on his new job, certificate of no file from IRS for 2007, that my husband stayed in the philippines for a year and worked here)

    IRS transcripts from 2004-2006

    w-2 from 2004-2006

    bank statements

COE for when he worked here in the philippines

income tax return for the year he worked here in the philippines

    co-sponsor's affidavit of support:

    letters of employment (2 jobs)

    most recent paystubs

IRS transcripts and w-2 from 2004-2006

    bank statement

    Packet 4:

    birth certificate

    marriage certificate

    NBI clearance

DS-156 and DS-157 (two copies) including proof of payment

    delbros receipt

passport and medical (SLEC will deliver it directly to the US embassy)

appointment letter in email and letter from the US embassy

    proof of relationship:

    chat logs

    remittance from petitioner

    pictures upon pictures

affidavits from co-workers from the company we worked for together and family members attesting to the authenticity of the relationship

    hand-written love letter from petitioner

    phone bills

PLDT budget cards (used to call the petitioner when he returned back to the US last march)

my COE and income tax return (proving that we worked in the same company for a year)

copy of magazine where i interview my husband for an article (how we first met). it's under my pen name but i will also provide a copy of the book i wrote under pen name. the copyright is under my full name, just in case she questions my pen name.

what do u guys think? did i miss out on anything?

Your list looks great. Question: Why didn't your husband file a tax return in 2007? It is my understanding that the petitioner should have proof of filing for the past three years (2005, 2006 & 2007).

  10. Good morning,

Update.... Tony called me this morning to tell me that the Embassy called his neighbor (one of his contacts on his contact form, don't know why they didn't call his phone but WHO cares right?) to say that he should come to the Embassy on September 3rd at 1:00 p.m.:dance::dance:

I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it!!!

  13. Hey all,

It's finally my turn to share the good news that I have received my appointment letter at the Consulate in Juarez, MX. My hands trembled and I opened the letter to read it to my lady.

It's a good feeling to know we will soon be together.

    Take care

    C

That's great news. Start preparing for the interview. Have evidence of a bonafide relationship. If you get ready now, you'll have less to think about later. Congratulations!

  14. Hello Everyone,

I'm married to a Brazilian. Since this K-3 (I-130) process is taking forever, and a lady at the VSC told me they'll look at it in 11 months (They received it March 6th, 2008.) Can my wife get a tourist visa and travel here while my application is rotting there?

    Thanks!

    Mark,

Unfortunately, your wife will probably get denied for a tourist visa. The Embassy will have knowlege that you have already filed for your wife. The CO will feel like if your wife gets a visa to the US, she will not return to Brazil. That's just my take on things.

This process is not easy. Hang in there.

    Take care,

    Mrs. Scott

  15. Is it ok to get SSN w/ the not-valid for work without EAD annotation even if we just filed our AOS?

K-3 folks can not get a SSN until you have a work permit (EAD).

Do we really need to provide a letter stating the reasons on why we want to get SSN in advance?

To my knowledge, you only need a work permit- not a letter.

Is there any K3 filer in here that has experienced applying SSN before getting EAD approval? The SSA will not give you a SSN without the EAD.

Can we already get a state ID? You may be able to get a state ID depending on the state in which you reside. In Georgia, you don't have to physically bring the card. However, the number will be verified.

  16. Well after calling the DOS line daily for the last two weeks (I bet they recognize my voice by now) with the same "your fiancee is approved for an interview but no date has been scheduled yet" response I received an email yesterday from the London embassy that read as follows:

"An appointment has been scheduled for July 30 at 9.00 a.m. Written confirmation of the date and time of the appointment has been sent to you."

I think I did the happy dance, the chicken dance & cut three back flips when I read that (OK I'm too old for back flips but I felt like I just about could have at that moment :jest: ). Called Anna & she was ecstatic as well.:energy: The long wait is finally over!

I booked three round trip plane tickets last night to London & back; I will fly over next Wednesday night (July 30) & the three of us (me, Anna & her son) will fly from London to Charlotte August 7 & they will be here to stay. No more goodbyes at the airport, no more Skype phone calls or waiting for Uncle Sam to get off his lazy butt & approve the paperwork. It is indeed a great & very rewarding feeling.

Thanks to everyone on this site for providing invaluable information & support-we couldn't have made it without y'all. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting & I hope I can help some of you out in the future.

    Congratulations on your interview.
