Does anyone know the link to download an updated I-134. I looked in USCIS and the foreign consulate's website, but all the veriosn expires on 4/2007. Anyone know what I can do?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Ditto! Although the date listed is 2007, the form that you have is fine.

Thanks!
Once my wife and I head back to the states my lawyer is going to send that in. I would like the SSN before OCT 15 so I can get my taxes done jointly and a tax id number is not a good option in this case.
It seemed odd at the consulate because they said the SSN would be done at airport immigration, and here on visa journey (and through talking with my lawyer a while ago) it notes you file for the SSN after the fact. I am told the green card will take 4 months or so after arrival.
It seems there is so much "it depends" in all these cases, relating to where one files and what office is handling things it is hard to keep it.
AJ
Save your money. You do not need a lawyer to file for a work permit nor green card. Try using the guides posted on VJ. The forms are easy to complete. If you get stuck, ask questions. Your wife will receive a SSN shortly after received the EAD also known as work permit.

Happy Sunday everyone! I know I probably won't get many responses to this question but thought I check anyway. Does anyone know where some futbul locations are in the ATL area? I've been searching the old yardie threads and haven't seen anything.
Lawny I'm supper excited for your big day Wednesday. You've finnally reached the big day.
Awakening,
I know that you can definitely find soccer locations in Stone Mountain. I will ask around. There is a new soccer park in Atlanta (off of Camp Creek Parkway & Welcome All Road). It is about 15 minutes from the airport.

Here I go, I got married last year in Jamaica and I filled my paperwork in Dec. of 07. I have been waiting and calling and waiting and calling the vermont center and I cant seem speed the process up. Has nyone worked with a lawyer and is it faster? These people are playing in vermont, California service center is at least 5 month ahead of them on the I-130. I can go work for them not knowing what I am really doing and get his done faster. How much paperwrk do these people work on everyday.
Mrs. Walker,
Please do not use a lawyer. I had one. It was the biggest waste of money. Lawyers can not expedite any thing! If you have extenuating circumstances, you can try to have your case expedited on your own. Keep the faith.

My husband and I have lots of pictures together including his recent visit but none of the pictures are timestamped. Would that be an issue? Is there anything I can include to prove that we really met recently? Thanks.
None of my picture had a date stamp. I had different hair styles and outfits. Also, the scenery was different. The CO's were convinced that my husband and I had a bonafide marriage.

Is the adjustment of status the I-130? My lawyer already put that in the last july, the same time as the 129F.
Thanks for the other info, that is good to know.
the K-3 was easy once we got to the consulate they didn't even ask a single question just gave us the visa!
thanks again,
AJ
Congratulations on the visa! Your wife has to apply for a work permit (EAD). Complete Form I-765. See link.
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-765instr.pdf
The fee is $340. Once she receives it, she will be eligible to apply for a social security card.

Hello,
My fiance' did not receive a copy of his vaccinations during the medical exams in Ghana. But he seems to think that the card he has from Akai House is the vaccination supplement. Can anyone tell me what the supplement looks like? Of does anyone have a pic of it so that I can compare it to what my fiance' is has. It just seems like this tiny card he has is not an official document.
Thanks,
Erika
Erika,
It looks like this (See link).

My husband's form is a little different though. I hope this information helps.

I didn't know the service centers operate on the weekends.
I got another touch today...very unexpected. This is the 4th touch in 5 days...I'm really starting to wonder what's up.
That's news to me. I had no idea that any activity occurred on the weekend.

I emailed my case worker as suggested about my questions. So I asked about the fact that every website says the K-3 visa requires the I-134 but someone else was told to submit the I-864. I've asked my husband to send me both so that I can be covered either way and then today I got this response.
Dear Ms. Vernon:
K3 applicants are not subject to the I-864 (Affidavit of Support) requirements at the time of K3 application, but will be required to submit when the applicant adjusts status to a Legal Permanent Resident in the United States. Similarly, the I-134 Affidavit of Support is also not required.
Sincerely,
Immigrant Visa Section
Can you explain this to me at all? Because now I'm SERIOUSLY confused as to what I'm supposed to submit.
When I filed a K-3 petition for my husband, I submitted the I-134 (Affidavit of Support) at the interview in Jamaica. The I-864 (Affidavit of Support) will not be used until you file for a green card. After receiving a K-3 visa, you have two years to adjust the status.
-
What is he doing that makes her think he is not in it for love?
Tell Wifey not to do any thing. As stated earlier, the conditional green card is only good for two years. What goes on in the dark will come out in the light. If he is truly using her for immigration purposes, it will be revealed in due time.

Amma,
I just read your about your interview. What a touching story! Persistence really pays. Tell Kwame that if he gives you any trouble, he will have to deal with me.
All jokes aside, I'm really happy for you two. Take care of each other.
Regards,
Mrs. Scott

Your mother has to call the USCIS and give them all her info and the info of your uncle to see if they see him in their system. They will ask her things such as Full name, DOB, etc. for both of them to verify if a petition was filed for him. If they find him, they will advise her on what to do next. If not, then she will probably have to file all over again. If she does, make sure to make copies of every single piece of paper that is sent to them just in case.
Diana
Diana,
Thanks for the information. I will let pass the information to my Mom.

My husband just received his CR-1 visa and we are moving to the US in August. I know we have a ways to go, but I´m just curious about the future steps we´ll have to take.
His visa came with a letter that said he should receive his SSC within 3 weeks. After that, I´m not sure what will happen and when we will need to do something else (like AOS?). Will he just carry his passport with him everywhere, or will he get some other kind of ID card? If so, when should he receive this card?
Also, what is the procedure for traveling outside the US? I want to take my husband to Canada and then in a year we will be returning to Peru for a vacation. Will he need to ask permission then, or just bring the visa or his card?
Thanks!!!
Since your husband has a CR-1 visa, he will be receiving a green card and SS in the near future. I believe he will have both in 30-45 days. You do not have to do AOS for two years. How cool is that? I'm not sure about visa requirements. Here is the link to check if a visa is needed to travel to certain countries-

The site is user friendly. I hope this information is helpful.

Good afternoon everyone, today I will begin the process of proof reading my documents for the filing of the K3. The biggest concern I have at this time will be submitting documentations for proof of an on-going martial relationship. We got married in February of 2008 in JA, I have been back to JA only once so far after my wedding. I will be returning every three months going forth. Our orginal intent was that I would be traveling there every month, but the price of airfare has put a halt on that. I have two letters of affidavitso far, will I need more. We don't have any bills of expenses combined. I know this process will be very intrusive in my private life, this will be hard for me, but I must prepare myself for this. I have phone call bills, text messages, no e-mails( he doesn't like e-mailing), I will start writting letters(snail mail), plane tickets, some pictures. I don't like taking pictures.
On the I130 or I29 does it ask if your SO every applied for a visitor visa and been denied. I can't seem to find where this statement is being asked. Right now because I am stressing out on this I am ready to sell my house, quite job and go live in JA, but the common sense side of me says calm down and everything will go smooth.

Roxcie,
The burden of proof lies with you. Don't worry about not visiting your husband frequently. With the weakened economy, it is totally understandable. From this point forward, keep every thing. It doesn't matter how insignificant. When your husband gets an interview, he has to prove that you two are an item. Also, I think that the CR-1 is way better than the K-3. Check out the pros and cons. See the link below-
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=compare
That's why I love VJ. The information on this site is free.
Good luck,
Mrs. Scott
Roxie i hope your journey will be smooth. I had no idea one needs to get affadavits from friends/relative regarding proof of a bonafide marriage? Is it needed for the interview or what?
Kishmar. this is needed your the K3 and CR1 I30 initial application, also for the interview process. Affadavits and pictures, since we don't have bills and finances combined. It won't be right to put him on my Health Insurance until he is here in the USA. So I won't be adding my husband to any of these documents (things) until here arrive here, so we need to have statements from other people confirming our relationship.
Kishmar, I hope all of our jouneys are smooth. I hope my SO and I weather thru this journey stronger and as deep in love as we are now. This will be our journey and maybe I should document it in a journal so when we are thru we can look back at all of the trails and triumphs. Like today when my baby is calling me because he is sick with a bad case of the flu. I want to be there to make him feel comfortable, but all I can offer is advise and comfort on the phone. I want to laugh because all men are like babies when they are sick, and cry because he needs me and I can't be there.
Those who have there SO and husbands by for side, remember this is what you fought hard and patient for.
Be Bless

Dear VJ Family,
My uncle traveled from Panama to the U.S. on a visitor's visa. He had to attend my grandmother's funeral (March 1991). While in the country, my mother filed for her brother to remain in the country. I know that for siblings the time period is ten years. At any rate, my mother has no case number nor paper work to prove that she filed for my uncle. A few years ago, my uncle had been contacted by USCIS (formerly INS) advising him that the quoting was approaching. The problem is that my mother gave her brother (beneficiary) all of the paper work. He never followed up. Now 17 years later, my uncle has no green card. She doesn't know if he had been approved for a green card or not. Does this mean that my mother has to re-file for her brother? Please advise.
Thanks,
Mrs. Scott

Trelawny,
It is my understanding that the CR-1 is for married couples. It stands for conditional relative (married 2 years or less). On the other hand, the IR-1 is for couples married 2 years or longer. I'm not sure about how the this type of visa applies to children. If I could turn the hands of time, I would've applied for the CR-1 versus the K-3. The only difference between the K-3 & K-1 is that my husband's visa is good for two years. Also, Kevin did not have to file for AP (Advanced Parole).
I agree with ClaireRN. The procedures in the Philipines seems more efficient.
Likkle more,
Kelia

Kishmar, Marlita & Other Yardies,
This visa process is extremely time consuming and aggravating. This is the 21st century. Thus, there is no reason for paper trails. Documents should be scanned in to a database. Had our SO's lived in Europe some where- we would not be waiting indefinitely. Keep the faith. Try to stay active (read, exercise, catch a play/movie). If you sit idol, you'll drive yourself nuts!
No disrespect to K-1 filers, but the process is done more quickly than for married folks. There is no rhyme or reason for interview dates. NVC supposedly schedules during the second week of each month. Kingston assigns interviews for K-1 & K-3 petitioners. The bottom line is accountability. Each government agency should have to answer to a higher authority. Immigrations fees are on the rise, but the service is piss POOR.
We must all unite & voice our concerns to the appropriate government officials. Had any us of moved to Jamaica, how long would it take to obtain Jamaican citizenship or the right to work for that matter?
I sincerely hope that you are reunited with your SO's really soon.
Take care,
Kelia

yeah you definitely have a point. I remember that it used to take a year and half to two years for the spousal visas. Then, it looked like they started speeding up the process...now they are slowing right back down.
How long did it take for Mrs. Scott to get her interview after NOA2? I know that she waited for what seemed like forever. I pray that you guys hear something soon. You should be able to get a refund on the difference between the old fees and new fees when they go past a certain timeframe. It is absolutely ridiculous.
Jawi,
I have not heard from you in ages. It took 7 months to receive the NOA2. After crying, praying, and writing three politicians- we got an interview. Our entire K-3 process was one year.
-
It finally came today. Although we didn't wait very long (134 days) the wait we had prior to sending in the papers was a lot to bear. Our 5 year anniversary is in 3 days (7/17) Keep the faith to all of those still waiting!!
Congratulations! That is awesome.

Here is something I've compiled as to what Neetu will be taking to the interview. I would appreciate feedback if something is missing and otherwise I hope this helps others organize their papers
***Required docs - interview letter (my copy and hers), postponement letter, medical packet, my passport copy, her original passports (maiden name and married name), photocopies of docs sent to NVC (See below), employment experience
***Marriage/NVC "proof" - Registered Marriage Certificate, photocopies of both marriage certificates, Birth Cert photocopy, Police report photocopy, Wedding cards, Affidavits, Wedding Album, DVD/CD of Wedding
***Proof of Relationship: emails, phone records, cards, letters, copies of cards/letters she sent to me, chat transcripts from skype, pictures (casual ones, including goa and family visits), boarding passes, itinerary of trip to goa, hotel receipts, my itineraries from my visits there, screenshots from skype webcam/chatting - presentable if asked
*Entire I-130 packet copy as submitted by me - to be used only if certain things (ie my naturalization cert photocopy) are asked for ...
*Tax returns, employment letter, bank statements from I-134 packet which I sent to her before (from when we filed K3) to be shown only if asked. She doesn't have a copy of the I-864EZ that I filed ... I think that isn't necessary.
*Tourist visa sponsorship info filed by relative (her parents got it, Neetu was rejected at the time - to be shown only if asked).
I've also attached the list above as a TXT file in case it helps
Your list looks great! Other than wedding pictures, I would also bring informal pictures. I wish you much success at your interview.

I have my interview tomorrow in Denver and from other posts I see many have bought their US spouses with them. I wasnt asked to on my interview letter, although I wanted him to come but he has issues at work he needs to deal with so will be working from home in the mornign and watching our daughter. Is there any problem with him not coming with me?
If at all possible, I recommend that your husband attend the interview. If not, bring your daughter's birth certificate. DNA is definitely proof of a relationship. Good luck!

I called the NVC and they told me we are just waiting for the Interview. They didnt send the case to the embassy. They said they assign interview on the 2nd week of every month.
Can someone tell me how this process works and what we are suppose to do next.
The NVC will schedule the interview. A confirmation letter will be sent to the agent of choice. In the mean time, you can call the State Department (202) 663-1225. Press 0 to speak with a representative. Be sure to have your case number available. Call on Tuesday or Thursday after 3 PM (EST). When I checked my husband's interview status, I called twice in one day. The first representative stated that a date had not been scheduled. However, in the afternoon the status had changed. Good luck!
