  1. Gooden,

I hate that you are going through such a difficult time. The immigration process is expensive & time-consuming. I have learned that no matter how good you are to a person, you CAN NOT make a person do right by you. Respect the fact that he no longer wants to be married. Stand your ground. Perhaps his real estate friend can assist him with obtaining a green card. In the mean time, try to focus on you. I pray that God sends you a man that will love & respect you unconditonally.

    Mrs. Scott

  2. Hi ,

I have a green card and my parents who wold be visiting me on a valid US visa, wish to vist either Bahmas or Hawaii...Please advice as to if we need any other special visa to enter these places of Hawaii or Bahamas.

    I would appreciate your help.

    Thankyou!!

    Cheers,

    V

Since you have a green card, you do not need a visa to visit Hawaii or Bahamas. However, some visitors need a visa to enter the Bahamas. I noticed that many visitors from African & Middle Eastern countries need a visa to visit the Bahamas. Please click on the link for more information on entry requirements to the Bahamas.

  3. Hello everyone as you may have read on my page I just got engaged in May and we started working on the k-1 visa but hit a road block with finances but anyway I was wondering which would be better the k-1 or the k-3. I know the k-1 is said to be a little faster then the k-3 and that there are other things about the k3 i have read about. I just dont know what will be best for us. This will be the first marriage for the both of us neither of us have kids and im still in college but graduating in December. I guess I just really want to find the smoothest route possible.

We are not married yet but i have a returned visit planned for christmas and I know for a fact that this may be my last visit to jamaica for a while and we dont know if we should marry there and go with the k-3 or as u mentioned the cr1 or file for the k-1 wait and just have me visit when we get an interview date.

    Brown Eyes,

Faster isn't always better. The K-1 is definitely the fastest; however, I don't think it is the best. In my case, I went the K-3 route. I have copied & pasted the link for the comparison chart.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=compare

It is difficult to be apart from a loved one, especially a spouse. Review the chart. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Regards,

    Mrs. Scott

  4. The other day I was driving in Florida and i pulled into a parking lot, I park my car and was on my way out when this police officer came up behind me. " I have been trying to catch up to you he said but a car got between us" he then asked me for paperwork He asked me why i had not changed my plates from California to Florida, i told him I just go my car from California and that I just changed my insurance on the 2/13/09 and that I was need to get my title sent to me. I could not find my insurance. so i looked until i found it. He then asked me to sign a sheet of paper, I asked him for what, he said he is charging me with a mister minor criminal violation for being a Florida resident and driving with out of state plate. So now i have to go to court. I don't even know what to do. Can someone help me??

    Mrs. Walker,

Most states require that new residents obtain a driver's license & license plates within 30 days. Here is the link from the Florida DMV-

    http://www.flhsmv.gov/dhsmv/newflres.html

My suggestion is to contact the court, and request to change the court date. By that time, you should get all of your paper work in order. I'm not sure why you were charged with a misdemeanor. If that's not an option, just keep the original court date. Bring the document to show that you are a Florida resident (e.g. lease, utility bills, etc). The fact that you changed your insurance is proof that you are not trying to pull a fast one. I think you will be just fine. The main thing is that you just show up. Otherwise, you could face other legal issues. The judge may require that you pay the court costs. I wish you all the best.

  5. Attention Atlanta Yardies:

Is it freezing today or what? Sixteen degrees for the Atlanta area is cold. I know the Midwest crew is probably laughing at me. At any rate, the Bob Marley Festival is this weekend. Check out the link for more information.

    http://www.mywebevents.com/bobmarleyfest08/events.html

The link contains 08, but it is current.

For those of you with upcoming interviews. I wish you all the best.

    Mrs. Scott

  6. I am at the stage where I have submitted the I-130 and rec'd my NOA1. Now I'm still debating whether or not to send the 1-129f for my husband who's in the Dominican Republic. Many people are telling me that it'll be more expensive and not to waste my time with the K-3 because they are getting approved at the same time. But others are telling me that to get an interview it will probably be a longer wait if I go just the I-130 route.

I would just like to be with my husband soon. I've heard crazy stories of people waiting for years. Do you think that'll be the case now a days?

Please I need advise and help on this matter. I would like to hear more from my fellow VJ members whos spouses are in DR as well. But i'm open to advise from anyone.

    Ilana,

I am not sure of the time line for DR. However, the CR-1 is better than the K-3. You will not have to do any paperwork for 2 years.

  7. Ditto! I certainly understand your frustration. However, under no circumstance should you cancel the interview. Try to see if your husband can pick up the medical results in person. The Embassy will accept it as long as the envelope remains sealed. In the event that the medical isn't ready, still go to the interview. Worst case scenario: Your hubby may be given a pink slip. As long as he has a clean bill of health, he will be approved at a later date. Try to enjoy your holiday.

  8. Nikki,

I agree with the other VJ Yardie members. Please don't waste your time or money. There are tons of us that have been through the process. Feel free to post any questions. Believe me- there is no dumb question. Be sure to start gathering all pertinent documents. Make sure that your SO has a current Jamaican birth certificate (blue one). Keep all phone records, plane ticket receipts, boarding passes, pictures, e-mails, letters, and other items that proof that this a real real relationship. I wish you all the best on your journey.

    Take care,

    Kelia AKA Mrs. Scott

  9. Congratulations! I think hubby will get the visa before next Wednesday. Start looking for a one-way ticket. :jest:

Well guys my husband got his visa!!!!!:dance: ...sooo excited and ecstatic all at once...well here is the run down of the event...

He was scheduled for 7:30am...he went through the metal detectors and a CO checked his name and took his interview letter...he was given a number and was told to sit down...he waited about 2 to 3 hours before his name was called...when he went to the first window a lady asked him for his medical records and his passport pictures....she also asked him for his visa but then gave it back to him...he was then told to sit back down and someone else will call him in about 5-10 mins....he was called within 10mins by another lady....she did his fingerprints and she asked him the following questions..

    When we met

When did we get engaged (he told her we never did the engagement thing just started planning on getting married...I'm not sure if that was a wise thing to say in my opinion)

    When did you get married

Do we have any kids together

Were either one of us ever married before

And then she asked him if he had any pictures and he showed them our pictures...he said she did not say anything while looking at the pictures and he said she looked at all of them...

She then said ok and gave him a white slip (thought it was suppose to be pink) and told him were to go to pay for the delivery of his visa....she also kept his passport....she also made him sign on some form...he said it was like a stack of forms but he only had to sign one part...he also had to write his name and address on a yellow piece of paper....

He had to pay $750JA for his visa and they took the white paper the lady at the embassy gave him and then gave him a receipt and told him that he can pick up his visa next week Wednesday in New Kingston...there is also a spot in Mobay but he is going to stay with his sister until the visa is ready to pick it up there...

Overall he said it was ok...the lady wasn't rude but she wasn't smiling either...he also said it was jammed pack in there...He said most visitor visa people didn't get through but majority of family visas got through except for those who were missing something....

Thank you Jesus that this is finally over!!!!!!!:dance::star:

    Paul Novak

    USCIS Vermont Service Center

    75 Lower Welden Street

    St.Albans, VT 05479-0001

    Dear Mr. Novak:

I am writing to you regarding my I-130 Petition, receipt number ________. I filed the I-130 petition for my husband to join me in the U.S. I filed my petition in December of 2007. Vermont received it December 30, 2007 I got the first Notice of Action on February 21,2008. Since I received that first Notice of Action I have not heard any update on my case since then.

I have called USCIS and I get the same answers that the I-797C tells me. I have schedule info passes and checked the website. I don't where I can go to have this matter resolved, so I turn to you. Sir It has been 9 months since my case has been touched and it has been almost 1 year since Vermont Service Center has had my case. I understand that at the Vermont Service Center our cases are numbers, however this is my life and part of my heart, my family is in another country.

I would really appreciate it if you would find out what has happened to my petition and why it has taken so long for my case to be completed. I also filed a I-129f receipt number ____________ I would like to know how that is coming along also.

I look forward to getting a answer from you very soon regarding my petition. My number is ___________, you can also reach me at_____________.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Walker,

I contacted three politicians (2 state & 1 local). Within one day, Senator Isakson sent an acknowledgement letter. After a week, I had an interview date. I think you are in Florida. Click on the link for more information. If you need any additional help, please PM me. The K-3 process should take no more than a year. Good luck!

    Mrs. Scott

P.S I also was looking at My I-130 Petition and I saw that my husband's birth date was not on it. His birth date is___________. I also changed y phone number since then, the new number is____________, and _____________.

  12. Im going in Feburary and I need info and a rental .. dont want a resort i want to rent a villa or house ,, but want prices on the lo lo ...lol :help:

    Eastbound,

Welcome to the Yardie thread. Awakening, Jawi, Solsouer are also residents of Georgia. Please specify the city where you will be staying (Mo Bay, Ochi, Negril, etc). There are tons of members who can help you. However, we need more 4-1-1. :star:

    Take care,

    Kelia

  13. I am married to a Filipina and am about to file a I-130. I want to apply for her SS number before she arrives in the US. Does anyone know where, in the process, you would send the DS-230 form (APPLICATION FOR IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION)? Thanks!!! :star:

There is a box on the DS-230; however, it does not apply to K-3 filers (K-1 & CR-1 filers can get one without physically going to the SS Office). Once your wife arrives to the US, she must file for an EAD (work permit). Once she receives the EAD, she is eligible to apply for a social security card. Since you guys are already married, have you thought about the CR-1 visa? The process takes 9 months to a year, but it is better than the K-3. Plus, there is no paper work to file for two years. Check out the comparison chart-

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=compare

    Good luck!

  14. hello my dear friends out there. i am really bothered right now and i need your help! i just had my embassy interview last monday and i feel that the interview went well as i was able to answer all the questions confidently. my problem is that the consul never told me if i am approved or not. all i know is that they took my passport and that i only got a pink slip and they asked me to pay the visa delivery fee. what do you think? i have not been able to sleep since. please help me.

Yes, you were approved! Call the US State Department in Washington, DC. A representative will be able to tell you if the visa has been printed (202) 663-1225.

  15. Solsoeur,

If I had to do it all over again, I would've gone the CR-1 route. By the way, K-3 visa holders do not need AP. It is a two-year multiple entry visa. With the CR-1, there is no paperwork to file for at least two years. To me the K-1 has the fastest turnaround time, but it is not the best! That's just my two cents.

    Mrs. Scott

  16. Dear Yardie Family,

Please pray for Ja Love. Her husband called me at 1:00 AM. Yesterday, she complained about having migraine headaches. I told her that if the problem worsens to go to the emergency room. To make a long story short, she had two seizures. The doctors are trying to determine if she had placenta remains inside of her. Her baby is only a week old. Her mother said that she is having a cat scan. Hopefully, they can figure out what's wrong. As soon as I hear from Chris, I will let you guys know.

    Later,

    Mrs. Scott (Kelia)

  17. Sus, I will stay out of this, Adams Morgan is downtown DC. But good luck w/Laurel, Maryland. I live, work, dated, party and have friends that live in DC, Laurel, and BB, and all over the other areas you are talking about. But I was only trying to be helpful, I live here and I wouldn't want to be leaving DC at 2am in the morning and trying to travel to a hotel in Laurel, Maryland.

    Laurel, Maryland is suburban/country....

I wasn't trying to jump on you and appreciate the advice - I was telling you what I had found, but I am swamped at work and doing six things at once, so if I sounded short, sorry, didn't mean to -

I found a Days Inn on CT Ave that had a good rate, just booked that -

    Hey Yardie Crew,

I can't keep up! Unu chat nuff!

Marlita, Did Evan get his medical straight? I have heard of being able to pick up the results in a sealed envelope.

Sunny, Congrats on your approval. I guess Ray can come home with you.

JGay, Are you still waiting on a date? If so, #######!!!

Will someone reply? There are too many pages to read.

    Thanks,

    Mrs. Scott

  18. According to the DOS, they entered the ds230 into the system today. According to fedex the 2nd copy I sent was received on Tuesday. I hope you are right and there can be an interview by the end of November, because my doctor only clears me to fly until then. My priority date is way back in February...Do you think that matters?

    Acrow,

If the DS-230 was entered today, I seriously doubt that you will get a November interview. Check out Sunny JA's timeline. Her interview is next week. She also is a K-1 filer. Try not to stress. Keep the faith. This process can be a real pain in the a@#! When is your baby due?
