Whenever USCIS take an action on your case, the date changes in your case status. It could be any action like approval, RFE, background checks, case review, case transfer etc.

Hi guys! My PD is 11/15. My date on USCIS keeps updating as well. i spoke with a live rep on Emma today and this was what they said. I am choosing to be optimistic about this!! Hopefully it means they’re finally working on some November cases!

Jay&Sid reacted to kbertrand in Canada/US border is about to close. Are we considered essential travel?
Saw someone post this on reddit regarding being a Canadian crossing the border to be with their American spouse, thought it might be helpful:

“...I'm also a Canadian married to an American with a pending i130. I spoke with someone on here in a similar situation who was able to cross the border during the travel ban due to COVID-19. I then took my chances (safely, of course!) and did the same. The officer at first said my trip was non-essential until I said my spouse is an American citizen. He asked for proof, and so I showed him our marriage certificate and a photo of his passport. I was then allowed to enter the USA. From what I read, they will never ban close family members. Wanting to be with them during this tough time is not considered tourism, which is what the travel ban sees as non-essential (especially when you're probably just going to be home all day!) Good luck :)”

Just wanted to mention that I was in Canada with my husband for the last month and he was able to come across with me today into the US. I’m American, he’s Canadian, just waiting on our CR1/IR1 interview In Montreal. He’s staying a couple weeks as we have a few prenatal appointments here.

I have been following the I-130 groups on Facebook, I’ve seen a lot of September 2019 filers getting approvals this month despite the fact that their cases were transferred from Texas to Vermont. Seems to be following the same timeline as Texas, so I remain hopeful for June! 😬

    PD: Nov 26th
    NOA1: Dec 3rd
Update 1: Feb 23rd - transferred to Cali from Texas
    Update 2: March 31st - see below

Update - My husband spoke to Emma again a couple of days ago to see why we had another date change. The operator confirmed that the second date change (March 31st) indicates that our case was being worked on and said ‘this is a good sign’. Trying not to get too excited but I am preying for some good news soon. I have seen someone with a Nov PD get approved last week so perhaps we are all not too far behind!

It looks like we were actually approved yesterday. We logged on today and it still says "In process" but above the IOE # says "Closed Case". The I-130 Approval Letter is in the uploaded docs with yesterday's date.

    Unreal 🙃

Quick question. Who gets the NVC email? Beneficiary? Petitioner? Both? We filed a G-1145 with the Petitioner's (mine) email. My husband thinks he may have accidentally deleted the NVC email. He cleared the spam folder today. I could kill him. Thanks 😂

Jay&Sid reacted to Canadian Elle in K-1 Visa From Canada to USA
I wanted to come on here and share my K-1 Visa moving story in hopes that it can help other couples.

With the COVID-19 pandemic growing each day, my fiance and I were extremely concerned with my plans to move to the USA on my K-1 Visa.  My flight was scheduled to leave from Edmonton, AB on March 31st and crossing customs and border in Toronto, ON before flying to Atlanta, GA.  In the days leading up to my departure, I tried calling the border office and the Embassy to see if I would be admitted entry as there was no clear answer if K-1 Visa holders were deemed "essential" travel.  I heard from the Montreal Embassy and they advised that if my Visa expired (it was going to expire April 15, 2020) I would have to go get a new medical exam and attend a new interview in Montreal.  This was not an option.

I took my chances and flew to Toronto on March 31st.  The flight was near empty and once I got to Toronto, I was the only person going through international security and customs and border.  The border agent took me into a separate office where a new border agent took my packet that I received from the Embassy.  I sat there for about 10 minutes while he processed my paper work.  The only questions he asked was where I would be living and if I had travelled outside of Canada to any of the high risk coronavirus countries.  He advised that I would need to get married within 90 days of today's date.  Afterwards, he wished my good luck and sent me on my way.

I was shocked by how simple this process was!  I was stressing and sweating for days about whether or not I would be granted entry because of the whole COVID-19 mess.  I was never asked about my health condition, nor did the airports take temperatures or anything.

I am safe and sound in North Carolina now and self isolating for 14 days out of precaution.  I wish everyone else good luck with their Visa processes!

There is a date update on one of my kid file on March 31 but still my spouse and other kid have no date change since Feb 23. I hope this date change will bring some good news during covid19 madness.
