I do see it and understand it, but I don't think that way!
Don't get on a flight. I am saying drive... Like get in your car and drive there or if you don't drive, then have someone drive you there. DO NOT take a flight! That would be a big mistake. Also, don't take public transportation! drive there your self or go with family/friend. This way you do not need to isolate when you get there.
In regards to the second part of your point... What they may tell you because about being/living in VA: You don't know that they will say no to you. There is a possibility that they will process it and in that case, I would ask you, wouldn't you be very glad you went to NYC?! I think that way... And if they end up saying "no why are you here" and "you should be in VA," then you remind them that they are the ones who invited you to come there and that you have done the address change on their website. If they still say no, then at least you have tried. So, yes, I would take days off of work to go out of town to NYC driving for this important interview. If they say yes, then you are very glad you went. If they say no, then you know you have tried, and they will re-schedule you in VA.I hope that helps...
I get it, and I thought about all that because I was in nyc recently and I drove up and drove back down. Unfortunately, I called and they canceled it almost immediately so that’s my luck. I have to charge it to the game and go back to waiting on Norfolk field office.

Are you disappointed that they scheduled your interview?!!!
VA is not that far from NYC. Just drive there or have someone drive you there (even if you have to pay them) and attend your interview on time with no changes. If you have to book a hotel room and be there ready to go one night in advance, that would be smart. When you go to the interview, tell them that you are in the process of getting a new state ID if they ask you. I hope that helps!I am beyond excited and I wish it was that easy. It’s $29 for a quick flight up to nyc on the date but once I get there, I would have to quarantine and I have work. I also don’t want to go there and they say, “we see that you moved to VA.” I have been waiting so long so trust me I’m hurt but I rather just doing it VA rather than go through the hassle. Imagine going there and they said, you just traveled from VA, why are you here and not quarantined? I hope you see where I’m going with this.

You could schedule an appointment and print a copy to take with you to the appointment.
Make sense but I literally just saw the letter and they scheduled my interview in NYC even though I updated my address to Norfolk VA from March last year. I can’t travel to NYC due to Covid, work etc so now I have more question... who do I contact? This is clearly an error from USCIS end.

I would love to know if anyone has any advice. I moved and did the whole address change and everything but I haven't gone to the DMV to switch over my Drivers license as yet. All the DMV appointments are like 90 days out etc. Would going to my interview in my new state with my old state ID be an issue?

Same here - USCIS has been “actively” reviewing my application for 313 days as of today lol
Same here, but 333 days for me. I filed 01/03/2020 and saw people who filed in feb, March, April, may, June, July and even September at Norfolk field office already interviewed an oath. At this point I think they threw my application to the side.

Thank you so much. I filed in Jan and still waiting on Interview so I’m a bit gutted to be honest but I’m happy for you. Please let us know if they do same day oath. Good luck.

January people still waiting for interviews... Any updates??? Anyone?
I wish, I’m still here waiting. Everything disappeared so I can’t see any status on my USCIS.

I think we're in the same boat. I never even got an initial interview, and my field office has been open since June. It's getting super frustrating.
Me too. I’m here waiting on Norfolk field office and still no interview. I was told my case is still at NBC 😪

I haven't posted in a while but it's good to see people are getting interviews and same day oath. I filed in NYC but I moved to Virginia so my case is with the Norfolk Field office. I don't know what is going on at that office but no interview as yet and myucis says the standard, we are taking longer than expected ...
If anyone know anything about Norfolk, let me know. Congrats and good luck to everyone still waiting, we are almost there.
PS, can the person who have access to the spreadsheet change my field office to Norfolk? Thank you.

That's a one year old letter addressing the closure from all the international offices. I.e. if you live in Germany and are married to a USC, you where able to file directly in Germany for your CR1 and the process time was just a few months. If you live in Switzerland, just a bit south of the German boarder and you are married to a USC, you have to file thru the Chicago lockbox and the same visa takes 12+ months. IMOH you have to allow directly consular filled for everyone or nobody. Since it would be to expensive to open a USCIS office for every country, i personally support the closure off all the offices and every visa has to go directly thru the USCIS in the USA.
I posted the correct link.

In my line of work, video depositions in both state and federal level have been allowed since the pandemic. I don't see why they can't.
It would definitely help everyone out.
Sorry this is the correct link.

Credit to Amy Klobuchar and all the senators who signed and send this letter to USCIS. I think USCIS should be able to do video interviews and even zoom meetings for OATH ceremonies. What do you guys think?

Posted the wrong link. Here's the link where the senators asked USCIS to implement video interviews and oath.

The letter does not address local closures, it addresses closure of international field offices. Did you mean to post a different link?
Generally I would of course like the idea of video interviews and oath ceremonies to allow regular timeline processing and give us a chance to register to vote in the upcoming election. But I am not sure if any of the existing video portals provide the level of data security that would be required to do so?
Thank you, I did post the wrong link. This is the one.

Yes, either that, or the file gets sent down from Vermont to the case officer.
Either way, I'm glad there's movement, and also glad that I'll have a green-card to hand-in at the oath ceremony, as I had read about problems for some people who didn't have one.
If you don't mind, when did you file in Brooklyn? I'm in the Bronx but could potentially move to BK soon. I'm trying to understand what the average timeline is for BK.

I live in the Bronx. In November I got a notice saying my case was transferred. I did an enquiry a few days ago to ask where to and they said Queens.
Thank you. I'm in the Bronx as well. This is giving me hope but it's weird that they transferred your case to queens when you did nor move. When did you file?
-
I’m so happy for all of you but all it’s telling me is this is a massively long wait. I’ll be happy when I start seeing people getting interviews in December and January.
@Thegirl Did you file in Queens originally or they just transferred yours to Queens? Looks like it took about 7 months for you to get interview notice which isn’t bad.
-
Good ole NYC. My completion date just increased 2 months to November 2020, lol....

I'm so happy for you. I know you'll probably disappear after your oath but you have helped so many of us with your research and checking on timelines. Be sure to let us know how when your oath is scheduled.
BTW, You are the best person to ask. I am in the Bronx but could possibly move to Brooklyn in the next month. DO you think it will make a difference?
I know Brooklyn is about 10 months despite what the processing timeline say.

Congrats but I’m still here from January 2020. My interview is March 19th.
